I believe the line after "Give in to the hunger" should be "Cast off your ablution". It doesn't sound like Inhibition, and Lakshmi is asking the Warriors to "Cast off their ritual purification" and give in to desire, remove the Blessing of Hydaelyn and fall under her thrall.
Cast off your ablution was actually my first thought as well, that's what I heard but I hadn't thought of it in the context of Hydaelyn and so wasn't sure that it worked, whereas casting off inhibitions works well with giving in to desires at a literal level. Unsure of it now though, it could feasibly be either. If I listen to it thinking your ablution, I hear your ablution. If I listen to it thinking inhibition, I hear inhibition. That said I'm leaning more toward inhibition at the moment. Going to pin your comment though and see if other people want to give their opinions. Thanks for your input!
SirTeflon I can't not hear inhibitions for that part. Your explanation for how it could be ablation makes a lot of sense, but with the word inhibitions the proceeding sentence "Let passion run wild" makes much more sense. That's just me though.
What if Hydaelyn is just a primal, and we're under her influence just like anyone under another primal, and that's why other primals can't dominate us?
The story has all but outright said Hydaelyn isn't a primal. It's implied that she's a true god because her existence precedes her worshipers (see: she made a covenant with Midgardsormr to let him settle on the planet and who seems to have come to the planet from space a long time before the spoken races were established), and the Dark Knight quests have some reveals about the WoL that basically null the possibility of them being tempered.
Hydaelyn and Zodiark are the principal gods of the XIV-verse. They've existed before anyone was around to worship them. Their conflict is a primeval one. The WoL have been chosen by Hydaelyn to carry out her will which makes them immune from being corrupted by primals which are merely just manifestations of Hydaelyns aether.

As we know, Lakshmi is a divine figure where many of Hindu people worship until now. She is heavily associated with lotus, the symbol beauty and purity, based from her appearance in the story of Samudra Manthan. But, for her snake trait... Maybe, it is derived not only from the Ananta tribe in-game. In Indonesia, Sri Lakshmi is also known as Dewi Sri (Sri Devi), the goddess of harvest, where Kejawen people still revere her figure. Dewi Sri is heavily associated with paddy snake (?) because that snake eats rats in ricefield and saving the harvest.
Its most likely because among the tridevi her ideals only work as a destination, but taken as a means toward achieving her own ideals she is the most material and leads you astray, whereas Sarasvati and Parvati are the actual paths toward achieving what she represents (prosperity as achieved through self-knowledge or Saraswati and experience measuring the value of said knowledge and deciding when you should choose passion instead as with Parvati). I.E only with lived experience or sufficient rumination can the prosperity and nirvana she represents be achieved, as focusing solely on it one can become obsessed with material security under the presumption that there is no other bedrock for comfort and acceptance in/with oneself and their reality, and a preoccupation with the more spiritual aspects of Lakshmi can result in (an ironic and superficially paradoxical for the alternate consequences of pursuing her ideals) neglect of health and responsibility with regards to physical incarnation or interpersonal relations and realities. effectively the Hindu version of why Arhats are both respected and warned of in Buddhism vs other aspirants toward enlightenment. All previous mentions of "realities" should have quotation marks, but I omitted them because this recontextualization and having read it both ways is important, i.e In some ways Lakshmi can be seen as a mirror of Maia/Maya.
Maybe unpopular opinion but this song had more impact when she is summoned during the Ala Mhigan peace meeting. Not only because you don't expect it, but you are fighting to prevent her from turning people into thralls. Just has that feeling of being on the backfoot against a goddess who can dominate with a single breath.
Just played through that section not too long ago. Imagine the poor saps who had just won freedom for Ala Mhigo, reeling after a hard fought victory after years of Garlean rule, only to get enthralled by a primal and cut down by Raubahn out of necessity. Damn sad...
Someone else pointed out that Lakshmi in this game is basically the embodiment of the phrase "Ignorance is bliss", and that's pretty much the best way to describe her. She encourages her followers to care about nothing but her beauty--why suffer the horrible truth, after all, when she can give them such a beautiful lie to live? And I realized it goes even further than that--from what I can tell, she's also one of the few Primals to be portrayed as malevolent or bearing ill intent, up to and including displaying a powerful dark aura multiple times throughout this fight and putting the heroes under her spell of desire for the purpose of directly taking their lifeforce, which adds all the more to the frightening nature of her and what she does. On top of this, I can't help but notice we never see her legs, only a large dress that could easily be hiding a coiled-up snake tail, and she has a tendency to draw out her S's, like stereotypical snake speech (as seen in lines like "Sssurrender to bliss" and "Open your heartsss to me!"). She may very well have presented herself in a form the Ananta would respond well to just so they'd be more likely to trust in her.
This has got to be the *creepiest* boss fight music (or any fight music, really). It's not menacing. It's light and triumphant. She's not angry, she's seductive. It's absolutely brilliant.
@@warriorfromhammerfell1557 Nope. I never said it wasn't a good melody, and I don't say "creepy" like it's a bad thing. I love seeing Primals with different natures. It gives a real identity to the tribes/people that summon them. Sophia's and Lakshmi's themes are equally as great though !
Ilona Yes, FFVI. 1994, she was, it's obvious. 90% of FF monsters and bosses are directly ripped from religion, mythology and literature; specifically Greek, Norse and Hindu.
Sophia is based on Christian Gnosticism / Greek myths, who is supposed to be the personification of wisdom & philosophy. Lakshmi on the other hand is beauty and wealth as seen in the Hindu / Indian myths.

rajesh vengat lotus are symbolic because they are beautiful yet grow out of filth ( the swamp) if there were a story of a lotus flower growing out of cow dung I would not be surprised. ( might also have something to do with cows being sacred.)
I think the correct term for tempered with Lakshmi is "dreamer". She says it in the song and when you kill the adds at the beginning of the fight she says something along the lines of "What right do you have to wake them from the dream?". Either way, be it tempered or dreamer, I think I am one too. Lakshmi best primal.
Matthew Daigneault I think Tempered was originally the specific term for Ifrit claiming souls for himself, as the word relates to his element of fire. The word has stuck for me too, but I wonder if it's actually supposed to be different between primals? e.g. Leviathan "drowns" his victims to make them his thralls. I vaguely recall that being the word used for him... But I don't think I remember any of the others having specific words.
Yep. The terminology is different between the beast races, although the process is the same. Ifrit's thralls are Tempered. Ramuh's thralls are Touched. Leviathan's thralls are Drowned. Zantetsuken's thrall, Odin, is considered Sundered. Those are the terms we currently know of.
You know, when I originally started FFXIV and was going through ARR hell, I was really close to quitting the game. And then all of a sudden, this came into my recommendations. Usually I don't like spoilers but I did agree that the music in this game is the best that I have encountered in an MMO, heck probably in all the games I played. After listening to this, I just got so much determination to reach this part in the game so I can experience this myself. Safe to say, here I am 3 years later with FFXIV being my favorite game of all time. Just letting others know that it gets WAAAY better after ARR. Can't wait for all the good stuff to come from this game in the future!
I love that these first two trials are bosses that don't feel evil in the traditional sense. Lakshmi is certainly exploitative but the presentation and music is such a nice change. And I adore that Susanso is just hype for a good fight.
Ahh, I will always remember this theme because the first time I ever did this Trial battle the majority of my group (myself included) was inexperienced and accident-prone, so we kept on failing. I was getting SOOOO frustrated at myself and the whole situation but found that the frustration never lasted more than a few seconds because I loved the theme so much. After we wiped and were planning a strategy before starting the fight again, I would also just be quietly vibing with the theme :) Like I wasnt able to get mad while listening to it. Eventually, we did beat the trial too. All in all, this is definitely one of my favorite gaming memories haha.
Rise high, High above our rivals, Spread our wings, Spread them wide, Let them fly It's like Lakshmi is encouraging you to defeat her. C'mon, get up, let's dance some more. You almost had me there, you can do this! How can one possibly get tilted in this fight?
this theme is so scary The players managed to recapture Ala Mhigo and move closer to peace, but she tried to destroy it and ruin everything. Also, it was even more terrifying that she didn't do those acts with malice.
I haven't fallen in love with any of the primal songs as much as this one. Each time DF takes me to Lakshmi I grow to love the song more. "In time you shall follow" indeed! It's now my ringtone.
@Kisu Aran - Nobuo only ever seems to get contracted for the more universally somber shit. But then again, I think we should still have some old tracks from 1.0 that haven't been given a proper home yet (PotD doesn't count); Nobuo DID compose those, after all.
Well Nobuo earned his rest after doing all the soundtracks for over 20 years. Who did Without Shadow by the way? It was him, right? He did the 1.0 soundtrack and WS first showed up in the original Limsa starting experience.
(spoilers for stormblood patches) v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v absolute dread when lakshmi was summoned inside the palace during the meeting, i just did that mission today and i honestly thought at least one person was coming out of that tempered, one of the most stressful fights in the entire game so far
I find it very fitting she carries lotus flowers with her and most of her attacks are marked up with lotuses. All of her speak of dreamers and slumbering in bliss has a very 'Lotus Eater' thing to it.
Still at 3.3 and thinking of coming back. After hearing Susano's theme and hearing people's thoughts of saying "the budget went into everything but the primal song" I was sorta reluctant to get it immediately and probably wait until 4.1 Then... Then.... THIS FUCKING THEME! MY GOODNESS IS IT BEAUTIFUL! THE INSTRUMENTS. THE VOCALS. THE VISUALS! EVERYTHING! Have to get this tomorrow
@@MaymayMakesThings I definitely agree, but funny enough, I still prefer Lakshmi's theme. At Both Ends is a total blast and extremely fun (and so few people appreciate taiko drums), but I think Beauty's Wicked Wiles has quite literally bewitched me. Susano's fight and personality have been more fun to me, but Lakshmi's theme is superior, even if it's by a hair's width. Her personality scares me, though.
I love trials and dungeons that make me feel like I'm dancing while I avoid the aoes. Shb has been like that and doing it as dancer has been really fun

I gotta tell ya I didn't really like this fight until I started maining Dancer. Wooo boy this is the best fight to play as Dancer. I had so much fun. I have fun playing Dancer anyway this fight doubled it.
Yes, exactly. Primals are not always battle hungry or dominating, take Ramuh as example. I mean, yeah, I would love for a scenario where Lakshmi helps us to fight against foes, even just temporarily.
Hearing a different perspective is interesting. I see her peaceful demeanour as a facade to draw followers in, kinda the same way Sirens lure sailors to their death.

orrthehunter I actually tried the thavnairian dance to this theme. It's quite fitting.
I think this fight completely derailed my train of thought better than any other.
"Welp, she's huge now. This is definitely gonna hurt, I should be ready to use...wait, why the hell is everyone *dancing?* "
You got subjucated bro
My duty button was hiding behind my mini map cause I'd been messing with the HUD. Couldn't figure out why I couldn't activate the bubbles and I kept getting yeeted off the platform. Kept asking for guidance and group would just say "click the button for the bubble."
Fought this boss for the first time today and didn't know the theme. It was glorious !
I am always in sheer amazement of the orchestral/musical diversity of FFXIV and the way they use it to express culture in the game. Amazing!
Just played this for the first time, I was blown away. It looks gorgeous, sounds amazing and is such a cool fight. This fight really has spoiled WoW for me.
Wait till Titania unless you already got there, it’s only upwards from here :D
I literally got blown away by lakshmi several times :(
@@PinkSonique nah lakshmis theme sounds 100 times better then titania
10 bucks says youre back playing wow by now 🤣
Sorry buddy still on FF14. Though to be fair I have really opened up my gaming selection since quitting wow. @@swickster
Anyone realize she is the opposite of Sophia? Balance, atonement, and truth versus sin, bliss, and delusion.
I love seeing Primals with different natures. It gives a real identity to the tribes/people that summon them.
Sophia's and Lakshmi's themes are equally as great though !
The Goddess (Sofia) was based on the god Lakshimi, so there's really nothing special or original here, just laziness.
The Merovingian She was not though ??
Ilona Yes, FFVI. 1994, she was, it's obvious. 90% of FF monsters and bosses are directly ripped from religion, mythology and literature; specifically Greek, Norse and Hindu.
Sophia is based on Christian Gnosticism / Greek myths, who is supposed to be the personification of wisdom & philosophy. Lakshmi on the other hand is beauty and wealth as seen in the Hindu / Indian myths.

Just got to this song, and it continues that every Female Raid fight has had banger music.
FFXIV's Music crew did it again with such an amazing OST. never cease to make such wonderful sounding music
I was wondering how they were going to implement Lakshmi's Alluring Embrace in this game. Glad to see they were able to pull it off.
Listening to this again after a year not playing... oh boy I can't cry anymore of how awesome this song is
I like how the boss phases are synced to the music, eg the end of the song when she casts her ultimate and then back to phase 1 and the song repeats
I've got some preliminary lyrics for Lakshmi, hopefully they're somewhat accurate XD

Many people dont know that she is the hindu goddess of wealth and prosperity and worshipped regularly in almost every hindu household here in india.
Doesn't she also live in the Dung of cows? and holds a Lotus?
RagingThunder rude ass bitch.
That should be outlawed.
what should be outlawed? living in dung? who are you to decide where other people can and cant live
rajesh vengat lotus are symbolic because they are beautiful yet grow out of filth ( the swamp) if there were a story of a lotus flower growing out of cow dung I would not be surprised. ( might also have something to do with cows being sacred.)
Beautiful theme, beautiful primal, half snake, half woman, 100% waifu.
ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THAT
crayonkiler someone sounds tempered
FFXIV has so many banging themes/soundtracks
The Primal version of "I'm So Good at Yoga"
Hive five my fellow CEG fan
As someone who started about a year and a half ago, I agree
The music honestly made we want to keep playing aswell was wanting to quite then fought guruda and I was damn this shit rocks
I don't understand what's so bad about ARR
Playing this on repeat. When I got to this stage it felt like I'd stepped in Disneyland. I was all smiles.
Bollywood Disneyland forever. ❤️
I love that these first two trials are bosses that don't feel evil in the traditional sense.
Lakshmi is certainly exploitative but the presentation and music is such a nice change. And I adore that Susanso is just hype for a good fight.
"YOU SHALL ALL WORSHIP SRI LAKSHMI!!!"
i dont play anymore but goddamn was i glad i played this gem.
Rise high,
High above our rivals,
Spread our wings,
Spread them wide,
Let them fly
It's like Lakshmi is encouraging you to defeat her. C'mon, get up, let's dance some more. You almost had me there, you can do this! How can one possibly get tilted in this fight?
This is straight out of a Bollywood video.
I think this song deserves a Record of the year award
this theme is so scary
The players managed to recapture Ala Mhigo and move closer to peace, but she tried to destroy it and ruin everything.
Also, it was even more terrifying that she didn't do those acts with malice.
im in LOVE with this soundtrack!!!
One of the top highlights of Stormblood expansion.
By far my favourite Primal theme in the game right now! I love this so damn much!
Same here
Give in to her grace, her purity. All must worship the ONE TRUE GODDESS!
100% Bollywood. Especially the dance trance. Love this so much.
I haven't fallen in love with any of the primal songs as much as this one. Each time DF takes me to Lakshmi I grow to love the song more. "In time you shall follow" indeed! It's now my ringtone.
I fear no Primal...
_looks at new mystery button and mechanic_
That thing... It scares me.
_falls off the edge of the arena, anyways_
Soken, you've done it again.
I thought Nobuo was doing the OST for 4.0 O_O
Maybe I misunderstood and was only the main theme.
Yup. Nobuo only did the main theme. Soken did every 4.0 songs (except some themes which are arrangements from other FF by Uematsu)
He did the 1.0 soundtrack and WS first showed up in the original Limsa starting experience.

absolute dread when lakshmi was summoned inside the palace during the meeting, i just did that mission today and i honestly thought at least one person was coming out of that tempered, one of the most stressful fights in the entire game so far
Fk being the warrior of light, I’m converting to Lakshmi worship.
FFXiv is an awesome videogame
I find it very fitting she carries lotus flowers with her and most of her attacks are marked up with lotuses.
All of her speak of dreamers and slumbering in bliss has a very 'Lotus Eater' thing to it.
I like this song cos its like a mix of three cultures which makes it trully unique.
My neighbors dont visit me anymore ever since they came in and saw me /charmed with this theme on repeat for 10 hours
Still at 3.3 and thinking of coming back. After hearing Susano's theme and hearing people's thoughts of saying "the budget went into everything but the primal song" I was sorta reluctant to get it immediately and probably wait until 4.1
Then...
Then....
THIS FUCKING THEME! MY GOODNESS IS IT BEAUTIFUL! THE INSTRUMENTS. THE VOCALS. THE VISUALS! EVERYTHING!
Have to get this tomorrow
lol, people can't appreciate taiko drums.
Taiko, Fue, Shamisen, Susano's theme is SO good.
susannos theme is so boring worst sb theme by far
Alex MaGanda clearly you don't understand why his theme is simple and playful
@@MaymayMakesThings I definitely agree, but funny enough, I still prefer Lakshmi's theme. At Both Ends is a total blast and extremely fun (and so few people appreciate taiko drums), but I think Beauty's Wicked Wiles has quite literally bewitched me. Susano's fight and personality have been more fun to me, but Lakshmi's theme is superior, even if it's by a hair's width. Her personality scares me, though.
REST YOU WEARY SOULS UPON MY BOSOM
I love trials and dungeons that make me feel like I'm dancing while I avoid the aoes. Shb has been like that and doing it as dancer has been really fun
I wiped like 4 times on my 1st extreme try so i listened to this a lot...one would think i'd be traumatized by the song but thats FF soundtracks for ya.
Just ran Emanation recently.
DPS in the chat says "save LB3 for the healers"
I didn't even know I had a limit break before this point.
The More You Know.
SuperDude Taylor pffft, that sucks dude. As a Raise Dragoon Mage (RDM) im forced to hold back on LB so the Ninja or the Healers can have it. If I had you as my healer the party would wipe XD but don’t fret, I’ve seen worse. Shiva EX was terrible with the Astro we had, and she’s not even that hard. Some healers just dont know how to play their class. Dont feel bad, okay?
I don’t really blame you lol, healers hardly ever use it unless everyone is close to wiping
@@fart9653 Well, it's better than Tanks
@@meiwasstruc2914 I totally forgot we even had one until the fight that came out in 5.3. I don't think I'd used it even a single time before then.
DPS gets to use LB more than the healers.. and rareeeelyyy tanks.
This is so catchy. I didnt like it at first but then it grew on me real fast
Probably my favourite song in the game right now. It's so fun to sing along to
The only dragoon in our party was the only one who died. Three Times in a row.
i know this is 2 years old but.... That dragoon was you right? XD
This song wins the most beautiful in my eyes but my favourite for motivation and pure fun is always going to be Rise (Alexander)
One line sounds like what I say when I take off on a plane at an airport: "Rise high, high above Arrivals."

Perfect theme for a boss that literally tries to kill you with kindness. XD
This is personally my favorite, based on how unique the music is apart from the other Primal Battles. ♥️
i hope shadowbringers can stick up to sb theme wise
Remember to use your duty action or else you'll be in *VRIL* trouble
thats some woke jazz, fren

It's been so long but god damn this is such an interesting track with asian influences all over from all cultures. Truly underrated track.
Sounds like a child of the OST of Bayonetta and Mulan
LET'S GET DOWN TO BUSINESS! To defeat...Primals!
Did they send me moogles, when I asked...for Hyurs!?
You're the saddest party I've ever met, but you can bet before we're through...
Adventurer, I'll...make a Warrior of Light...out of you!
Hey you're here too! Yeah ikr, the vocal kinda look like Moon river / Fly me to the moon with Mulan orchestra
Rise high...
High above our eyeballs :)

Somebody make me unsee this ('cause i have to unsing this)!
This is now canon. Thank you.

Ah shit, I felt myself dozing off while listening to this. Bout to turn into one of the dreamers real quick

Just ran a blu group for her spell, now this damn song is stuck in my head
This is my favorite song and probably my favorite Primal fight in Stormblood
stormblood in general had the best music imo especially if you compare shb trials to sb trial shb only had like 3 good trial themes and thats it
This song is amazing im enthralled!!!
I will never fall under Primal enslavement!
[after listening to the theme] Whatever you say my queen
Theme came out of nowhere and I instantly loved it and its use in the fight!
I gotta hand it to SE, EVERY Primal gets their own theme and they're all good.

Except Shiva. >_>
emanation = eman = ايمان = to believe in
I am a man easily swayed by the alluring charm of the ladies, and I can say for certainty if I could have outright refused to fight, I would have 🤣
This fight is awesome song is stunning
This song is so underrated. Just beautiful
not really look at the views lol its one of the most viewed osts
God the music in this game is amazing. Love getting Laskhimi for the jams.
I gotta tell ya I didn't really like this fight until I started maining Dancer. Wooo boy this is the best fight to play as Dancer. I had so much fun. I have fun playing Dancer anyway this fight doubled it.
Absolutely here for her pronunciation of weengs. It sounds so pleasing to the ear.
To be honest, this boss is the least primal looking out of all primal bosses, she actually look like a peaceful god, sadly we had to cut her down
Yes, exactly. Primals are not always battle hungry or dominating, take Ramuh as example. I mean, yeah, I would love for a scenario where Lakshmi helps us to fight against foes, even just temporarily.
Doesn't she entice people and mind control them?
Yes, because she was summoned by a mentally-wrecked mother.
Hearing a different perspective is interesting. I see her peaceful demeanour as a facade to draw followers in, kinda the same way Sirens lure sailors to their death.
Well she is like Siren, may do no catastrophic harm but best at mental control abilities.
Such a good Primal theme
Every instanced fight song is a bop i swear.
Even tho this song brings me memories where I thought i had friends in this game ,i still love it 😌
I love this song.
The best part is the phrase that Lakshmi tries to tempt the protagonists with sweet words to make the gods too angry.
this song has such religious feel to me, it was so good
Because it is indeed a religious song for the Ananta's belief.
