HOW TO CHECK OIL LEVEL ON A BMW

In this video I show how to check your BMW's engine oil level using my 2020 X3 M40i. Checking the oil level in virtually every newer model BMW is the same using the idrive system. Make sure to drive your car at least 6 miles or until engine is fully warmed up before checking oil level.

Considering a purchase of this car. How reliable is this reading? If the digital system fails is there another option to check the oil?

I don’t think there is a manual way to check oil level on BMWs. I believe the readings are pretty accurate judging by when I get an oil change or occasionally add some oil.

New owner you’re using the round dial then look for engine oil?

Use the round dial and look for “Vehicle Status” or something similar and then use should see an option for engine oil level. Hope that helps.

Not a good idea from BMW. What would happen if car dashboard failed? You will be saying bye bye to high end car 😂
