Bethereal Msp hey ik your not taking to me but I got the same as him in the sciences and I was supposed to get a 9 in maths and the school downgraded it (😔) so for science do A LOT of past papers. Before you do past papers do exam questions on the individual topic. So for example if you’re revising cells do exam questions in the specific cell topic such as magnification or animal cell or surface area. And then move on to do an exam paper when you’re satisfied with every single topic you’ve done. Print out the specification as well and make notes on the specification. As well as that do mind maps they are very effective. Don’t just take notes by copying it down. Make sure you learn not just memorise. As well as that make flash cards as they help a lot. For maths do topic exam questions like in science and when you’re satisfied do a full paper WALKTHROUGH. Which is where you get say maths paper 1 2018 calculater and type that into UA-cam and then do the paper along with the video. Attempt the questions first and then watch how the other person does it if you’re stuck. Some sites for science is physics and maths tutor (topic questions very very good) and freesciencelessons. You can use primrose kitten but I only recommended that when you’re quickly going over stuff because her long videos cover the WHOLE biology so it’s not very details as freesciencelessons. For maths I reccomend corbet maths, maths watch(your school should give you a login) hegarty maths and videos online. You can find end of topic tests for maths anywhere online and also past papers anywhere for maths same as science for past papers. ASK YOUR TEACHERS MANY QUESTIONS. Especially if you’re stuck. I annoyed my maths teacher w so many questions but I ended up getting great grades and he was very proud. Last but not least get good sleep. If you wanna revise till one am eat then have a nap for at least two hours when you get home (try get some sleep on the bus, I did 🤣) and then start working. Also don’t leave anything vital to do on the bus or journey to school. Such as for me I made mistakes by for example when I had an re end of unit test and they gave us the revision materials which was like twenty revision cards I would memorise 4 each day (sounds like a little bit it takes a lot out of me when I fully memorise every single word on a revision card which is bigger than an average revision card) it’s not good to plain memorise by the way but for gcse I scraped by with that method. Anyways when I cba I would say that I would memorise the remaining ones on the way to school. That wasn’t a good idea because on the way to school it sometimes wasn’t enough and then I would say nvm I would do it after school on the way back which was a big mistake because I was always tired after school. Moral of the story don’t procastinate. Also if you don’t understand don’t just hope it won’t be on the test. As I have said ask teachers and make sure you go over it at home and do some questions as well. Anyways good luck x.

For anyone upset about your GCSE grades, my parents have always said "Grades are not a sign of intelligence, they are a sign of devotion". Basically this is there way of saying grades mean hard work not how smart you are so if you did receive bad grades, don't see yourself as stupid. For example Albert Einstein did horrifically in school.
Albert Einstein did well, he got a 6 in a ton of subjects which is the equivalent to a 9 in his education system (these subjects included all the sciences and algebra, so that's what he's famous for) . The things he didn't do well on were french and geography which have nothing to do with why he's famous.
Great results btw but there has been way too much grade inflation this year, which just devalues it for the people who actually worked really hard and deserve the high grades they got.

I haven’t taken gcse yet but my mum is an English teacher and tutors people, what she does is study each given text in a lot of detail think about points if view of different people and the devices used. Ik they use a whole book so look for motifs and how each character changes. In unknowns just think about each character and how they feel if there’s no people image you are there in the place and how you feel. Also idk about where you are but apparently they usually have an extract My Family And Other Animals by Gerald Durrell. Good Luck!

Same with RE! I was getting around like 6s because we were just not friends but in my mock I panicked and got a 3 lol. My teacher found me annoying too because I was probably too opinionated for her but I got a 9?! I don’t get it at all but I’m just gonna take it and run haha

Is anyone planning on doing latin for GCSE? Like our school now lets us drop or mlf to do latin ... and I have no idea how French works and I’ve learnt French since year 1 and I’ve learnt latin since year 7, my levels of understanding the languages are about the same... sooo I’m planning on doing latin because it seems like I understand it a little bit better and apparently the latin GCSE is translating from Latin to English
Hey this was a while ago, but I am taking both French(AQA/iGCSE) and Latin(OCR) for GCSE (I am currently in year 11) and I would recommend Latin if you are actually interested, although it is certainly a step up from year 9. You definitely reach a point at GCSE where you can't just blunder your way through in translations and things, so if you do take Latin, I really recommend that you make clear grammar notes from the start and try to understand the grammar when you learn it (instead of assuming you can work it out later like me!). If you do this, particularly with making sure you can decline nouns and conjugate verbs, the language section is not that hard in my opinion, but I personally have found French easier. The Latin literature section also seems quite intimidating but is not that bad once you find a technique. Just make sure you have a clear translation of each extract, and write any notes your teacher gives you on a fresh copy. When it comes to revision you can just learn your points and use them in different ways depending on the question. Sorry for writing such a long response, but I am taking English, French and Latin for A-Level so this feels like my specialist subject!! Hope that helps x
@@beaquin3173 I dunno if you've started doing Latin yet but I did Latin from year 8 to year 11 and I really enjoyed it but MAN does it get harder!! absolute biggest piece of advice is learn your vocabulary, start learning it early and really keep on top of it because it's 100% the ticket to getting a good grade. You can manage pretty well with basic grammar knowledge but you NEED to know your vocab! it can be pretty stressful but the literature is so interesting and it's deffo worth it :)

Teachers have definitely over-graded students.
My teachers definitely didn’t, I was getting 7s in my mocks for English Lang and I was given a 6, overall in my school it’s pretty harsh!
I got a 7 in engineering and I was predicted a 8 :(
i don’t feel like they have overgraded me in comparison to my predicted grades from the beginning of year 10, but i can’t speak for other people!!

I am sick and tired at the annual hysteria over a bit of paper.. It wont do you any good, Get a bloody job or a Shovel, or better still wash a cup up.... It is all do to keeping up with the Jones anyway....

Is anyone planning on doing latin for GCSE? Like our school now lets us drop or mlf to do latin ... and I have no idea how French works and I’ve learnt French since year 1 and I’ve learnt latin since year 7, my levels of understanding the languages are about the same... sooo I’m planning on doing latin because it seems like I understand it a little bit better and apparently the latin GCSE is translating from Latin to English
Hey this was a while ago, but I am taking both French(AQA/iGCSE) and Latin(OCR) for GCSE (I am currently in year 11) and I would recommend Latin if you are actually interested, although it is certainly a step up from year 9. You definitely reach a point at GCSE where you can't just blunder your way through in translations and things, so if you do take Latin, I really recommend that you make clear grammar notes from the start and try to understand the grammar when you learn it (instead of assuming you can work it out later like me!). If you do this, particularly with making sure you can decline nouns and conjugate verbs, the language section is not that hard in my opinion, but I personally have found French easier. The Latin literature section also seems quite intimidating but is not that bad once you find a technique. Just make sure you have a clear translation of each extract, and write any notes your teacher gives you on a fresh copy. When it comes to revision you can just learn your points and use them in different ways depending on the question. Sorry for writing such a long response, but I am taking English, French and Latin for A-Level so this feels like my specialist subject!! Hope that helps x

@@beaquin3173 I dunno if you've started doing Latin yet but I did Latin from year 8 to year 11 and I really enjoyed it but MAN does it get harder!! absolute biggest piece of advice is learn your vocabulary, start learning it early and really keep on top of it because it's 100% the ticket to getting a good grade. You can manage pretty well with basic grammar knowledge but you NEED to know your vocab! it can be pretty stressful but the literature is so interesting and it's deffo worth it :)
