- this morning i opened my gcse results for exams i didn't do! this was very scary as we had almost no control over what we were getting - it all depended on our teachers... i hope everyone who has received results today is happy with them!!

I remember 2 years back when I was in year 11 they would tell us that only the top 2% could achieve a 9. I got one 9 but jheez u aced it. Congratulations!!! What A levels u thinking of taking!!!!

I’m low key really scared for my gcses as I’m not going to sit any of my gcses and I havnt done any mocks so far because of corona and I don’t want my teachers to give me low grades so j can’t do the four subjects I want to do for sixth form

A good way to memorise things for the long term is to test urself on the info, walk away till u almost forgot it. Then test urself again without looking at the answers. See what u can remember. Then look at the answers again when you remember all u can. Simple revision cards work pretty good too. :) 🍄💫⭐️

thank you - yeh i understand if i seem ungrateful for my grades, but i've been working towards getting all 9s for most of the course and so that's why i was a little disappointed in the 8 - however i am still super super happy with my results and tbh i wouldn't want to have them any other way❤️❤️

my predicted grades are 4s 😩. i have mini exams in a couple of months and i only do seven subjects. any advice or lmme guess i should just give up right .

I have done some research and the best way to revise apparently is to test yourself on the topic and then walk away until you have almost forgotten the info.
Then don’t look at the answers straight away. Try and remember them. Look at the answers after u remember all that you can. Simple revision cards are pretty good too. 🧚🏻♀️😊👍

sorry this is so late, but thank you!! i think definitely keep on top of your work, and make sure that you understand the topic fully as you go along - it makes revising so much easier!! also doing loads and loads of past papers and practice questions is the way to go (for non-essay subjects at least)

i never really had a specific schedule, but if i found something hard i would go over it - and obviously i would revise for any end of topic tests. I would say I did about maybe 3 hours of revision a week, on top of homework

What did you do to revise? Does the school give you revision sheets on what you should study?? Or when you start your GCSEs year 11 do you get only stuff that will be in your test
my school helps a lot with our revision, but you can defo find a LOT online - physics and maths tutor i would defo recommend. you can find specs for all subjects online as well, just make sure you have the right exam board for each subject! use the spec to check through each topic and make sure you know it all!
How do you revise? Those grades are amazing btw, you must have worked rily hard.
Thank you! I use loads of practice qs for sciences and maths (physics and maths tutor have LOADS) and active recall/condensed notes for humanities/essay subjects
Congratulations amazing ! I achieved all grade 9s , but it wasn’t worth it , it caused me intense stress & anxiety , some days I would study 12 hours a day - it really was insane

wow! I've never been predicted an 8 or 9 grade in any subject. Any advice on how to get there?
hey, so I'm predicted 7 grade 9s, and 2 eights, here are my tips:
1. Always to past paper questions
2. After doing past papers go back on the areas you r weaker on and do specific questions on those (I use 'Physics and Maths Tutor' which is a great website for science, english, maths and geo. It has flashcards, notes, questions and past papers)
3. Always ask your teachers if you are unsure on a topic...even if it seems like a stupid question, you'll thank yourself on results day and they r here to help :)
4. I make flashcards on quizlet and keep going back to previous topics and continuously testing myself so that I don't forget (this is called active recall and there's tonnes of stuff on the internet about it)
5. For sciences i wrote out common six markers as bullet points and like memorised it - obviously make sure u understand it first and don't blindly memorise (these are required practicals, and a lot of comparisons, eg group 1 VS transition elements)
6. For english lit make character profiles, and have a few go-to quotes for all the themes that you have analysed in depth
7. Maths - literally all i do for maths are practice questions

I wish we did our gcses in 2020 we easily would've gotten these grades. Or atleast performed better becuase ofcourse teachers have more bias.

revise each topic as you go, make sure you understand it as you are being taught it - it makes revising for larger tests/exams a whole lot easier!

just keep testing yourself and going over topics you find especially hard - try to do as many practice questions as possible, look on physics and maths tutor (the website) as they have so many past papers for different subjects (mainly science subjects). good luck!!!

@@MiaYSMalik Im referencing the point you made about the govt degrading results. Obviously it wasn't ideal, but it's worth bearing in mind that (1) 75% of teachers over predicted and (2) even after the grades were moderated, the results abominably high.
