What to do if you don’t like gay marriage: Step 1: When a gay person proposes to you, say “no” How to avoid getting this close? Step 1: When a gay person asks you out, say “no” (I commented this before seeing it in the video)
Remember the day gay marriage was legalized, when government agents came and forcibly separated all straight couples and ordered them to await their assigned gay partners? Yeah, me either.
When I came out to my mother as bi, she said curtly, "That's nice, now let's never speak of this again." And we didn't. She never once met anybody I ever dated and I don't miss having her in my life.
what a crap response, imagine the reaction if you had said that to her when she opened up to you.. gosh when mom came out to me as bi, I said "omg I always thought you were straight" then I thought back on how much more I crushed on girls than guys growing up and realized I wasn't straight either. my sister, with a brief explanation, helped mom and I both realize we're actually pan. this all came from mom ranting in the car about an ex gf that cheated on her with some bad boy type. I'm always grateful sis knew some queer terminology else my orientation would still be "wtf is going on" so it's always better to be open with your kids, give insight and be curious. there's nothing confusing about making things clear, heck I wished I'd learned what pan was back when I was 13 cos that's when I started having girl crushes. thinking I was weird cos I grew up in fuckin backwardsville pennsylvania where the school's queer demographic consisted of a single known lesbian and that's it. everyone, especially girls, from all cliques made fun of her, spread rumors to make it sound like she was gross, masculine, or made lesbian her entire personality. funny that queerphobes claim we do that to ourselves. so I never talked about my girl crushes, only boys. even though I thought about girls a lot more. it just didn't make sense to me.. I was confused af being in the dark about queerdom. I think your mom was lucky to have a kid so insightful and patient with them, and she didn't appreciate it. now you're gone from the energy hope and joy vampire, I wish you a good life to spite her ignorant self.
Kids really don't care that people are trans. I'm non-binary, I'm also a swim instructor, I have yet to be able to actually answer a kids question about my gender because they've either started talking about something else, or swam away before I could even open my mouth.

When I was younger I've met people who thought "heterosexual" was a slur. To the point when I once told someone "oh, you're heterosexual" they took it as an offense and answered "nono, I'm... normal!". The word skirt used to refer to both the garments now refered to as shirts and the ones we still refer to as skirts. Therefore it's perfectly normal and traditional for men to wear skirts.
Children were called girls regardless of sex until the age of 3 to 5 and wore dresses. Males were sometimes called knave girls and female children were sometimes called gay girls, if there was a need to differentiate. Boy was a derogatory term and was used only to refer to male servants.

I think the "Divers" thing is just badly translated from German, where "Divers" would be Diverse as in "anything else but binary" and would be normal in any kind of forms.
That's correct, we even have job ads that say (m/w/d) after the job title. That stands for male, female and "other". As someone in that category I do not like that. "Divers" sounds a bit like weirdos or leftovers or something. But at least there is a recognition that there is someone outside of the binary.
@@rainboworangeyeah, it was kind of a compromise back then when it was decided to use „divers“ for those who identify non binary in Germany if I recall correctly. It‘s pretty difficult with German language to create good terms for it. Especially if it comes to pronouns. My asexual awakening character moment was probably when I watched Disney's "Moana" for the second or third time, and I realized what I love most about it is how refreshing it is to have a movie with an adult(ish) female lead who doesn't get bogged down with romance stuff. For her entire story, even though she spends lots of the movie alone with a man who (as far as we know) isn't in a relationship himself. I've never minded stories with romance in them, but seeing films where the girl has a great character arc without a hint of romance or sexual tension even when there's potentially single guys around... to me it's like taking that first breath of outdoor air on the first really /cool/ autumn day after a long summer.

10:54 Can confirm -- kids don't care if someone is gay, trans, queer, nonbinary, bi, or any combination of permutation thereof. They might have some questions, for sure, but in all the times I've talked to kids about LGBT+ subjects and individuals (including talking to my own kids about my being queer & their dad being bi, as well as their cousin being nonbinary), they've never been even remotely fazed. (kids are generally great about dealing with accidentally screwing up someone's pronouns, too, unlike a lot of adults I've noticed! No arm-waving or overreacting or making it all about them and their feelings vs. the feelings of the person they misgendered. They just generally self-correct and maybe offer a quick 'oops, sorry!' and just keep it moving. It's beautiful LOL)

One time I was volunteering in the primary school I went to and was in the nursery classroom with 3 and 4yr olds. This boy said: "My dad married my grandpa!" I was like "I don't think that's true." because it would be concerning and he was like "boys can marry boys and girls can marry girls!" I didn't know whether to be happy they were accepting or concerned at the implied incest.
Honestly, both. The best thing to do in that type of situation is to explain that yes, there is nothing wrong with gay relationships, but incest, however, IS very wrong.
@@SomeGalNamedEve Yeah, I did try to do that. Honestly I wasn't too worried because it felt like the kid was just making it up because he thought it sounded funny lmao
The statement can be true without gay marriage or incest even entering into it. If the grandfather officiated the wedding, he did indeed marry his son (to his now spouse). It's like a little riddle, like the surgeon's child one.
When my SIL told our nieces (6 & 8) that my wife and I were getting married all they said was “so we’re gonna have two aunts!?” And they had absolutely no other questions lol
Heartstopper is such a great show and I'm so in love with all the characters. I also just LOVE Nick stating "I'm bisexual" all the time, and how Tara and Darcy say they're lesbians and not just "gay". It's refreshing to hear that and not just "I like women/girls". And also to hear characters say bisexual and bi so openly. As a bisexual, I love seeing it. I'm so happy for the younger audiences that get to watch the show during the time when they can still dream with a sweet high-school romance. And I love the talk around consent and how outing people is not okay and the acceptance of trans and aroace people for who they are.
I used to be bisexual, now I identify as a lesbian (sexual orientation is pretty fluid, and can change at different times in life). What’s annoying is that people treat the time when I identified as bisexual as a time when I just didn’t want to come out as gay. No. I was interested in guys but I am not anymore. I don’t know what’s so difficult to understand about that.
HRT flipped me from being a gay man-shaped thing with almost zero romantic or sexual attraction to women to a lesbian with almost zero romantic or sexual attraction to men. It's been a bit of a mindfuck, but it only makes sense that that would change as everything else about me changes.

The trans men all lived in places where it was illegal for them to use the correct bathroom, and I've been kicked out of women's bathrooms since before I knew trans people existed simply due to not being feminine "enough" (I'm non-binary).
I don't get why people even care about who's in the next stall, so long as there's proper cubicles. Potential attackers aren't going to care about signs or societal norms anyway, they can also be of any gender. When the second failed, I had space to reflect and realized I’ve had crushes on women I’ve been really close with through the years as well, just already in a relationship and never thought about what it meant. Aesthetically always liked women more, but as I’m demi, I never had that like “celebrity sexy crush” awakening or anything. Def found people of all genders “hot,” but it doesn’t translate to actual “sexy feelings” if you know what I mean. My brain went to German rather than French, because it’s the standard third option for German and Austrian forms that ask for your gender (since 2018 in Germany and 2019 in Austria).
It’s also a valid (if somewhat archaic and definitely very rare) alternative spelling of “diverse”, as used particularly in legal contexts. 12:04 I have actually made a sin calendar, January is Sloth (You stay up late for new years and are exhausted. It's also in winter, a very lazy season) February is Lust (Because of Valentine's Day, obviously.) March is Greed (St. Patrick's Day, the whole point being kidnapping someone for money, pretty greedy) April is Envy (Because I couldn't find a big holiday for April, therefore it's envious of months like December and October) May is Deception (I had a few months left and needed to fill them with something, so May and September got irrelevant sins) June is Pride (Need I explain?) July is Violence (Celebrating the singing of a document that caused a war with explosives? Seems violent enough.) August is Wrath (I lied about May; August has a nothing sin too.) September is Theft (Like I said, not all of these have some big meaning.) October is Blasphemy (People say Halloween is "of the devil", I know it historically isn't, but this works for our purposes here.) November is Gluttony (Thanksgiving of course.) And December is Indulgence (New Year's Day, also winter is vice season.)
all the bi awakening memes remind me a lot of one of my favourite things about figuring out i'm a gay trans man, and it's that Team Fortress 2 was literally my awakening. the absolute insane FPS full of equally insane men who blow each other up and have weapons such as hilariously expensive golden frying pans and literal jars of pee made me realise i'm a guy, and i am incredibly proud of it :) godspeed
This video was very calming to watch after I found out about Project 2025. Despite how horrifying it is, I think everyone should know about it so that we can stop it
5:06 Unfortunately, even if you think your family will be supportive, you can be surprised by them. My mom has been in relationships with men & women in her life. For most of my childhood, she was in a long term relationship with a woman. In high school, I thought she would be supportive when I told her I was bi & introduced her to my girlfriend. She immediately said she didn't believe me & wanted me to kiss my girlfriend in front of her to "prove" I wasn't faking it. I kissed her on the cheek because I didn't feel comfortable doing a full on kiss in front of my own mother (I would have felt the same if she asked me to do this with a boyfriend I introduced her to). That relationship didn't last very long because my mom made it really uncomfortable for both of us.
Something I never really hear anyone talk about regarding "cis" and why some people might react unfavorably: It's a relatively harsh sounding phrase and when we produce it, our faces grimace into something snarl like, thus making it easy to mistake it for an insult. You know, like "wasp" sounds more harsh and aggressive than the comfy and soft sounding "bumblebee", which might indirectly shape our expectations for the thing referred to. Don't get me wrong, it's mostly homophobia, but I think there's always a bit more going on under the hood to how we react to stuff compared to how we sometimes may want to reduce it to a single reason. At least that was my initial reaction to the word. Also as a cis person we are usually privileged to not being used to feeling "othered" in terms of gender if that makes any sense. The difference being I then simply educated myself on the meaning and etymology of "cis", accepted/adopted the term and moved on from being initially butthurt 😅.
I still don't like the prefix. It reminds me of the word piss while trans sounds travel related. I want a travel sounding prefix, too. And a way of saying the same basic thing without making it sound like one is in agreement with gender norms. That was my biggest issue. Of course everyone decided I was a transphobe just because of my fixation on how a word sounds to me personally. It has nothing to do with anything else. I'm autistic though and just have different ways of looking at things. Gender and linguistics both. And of course I have no idea when it's ok to say something and when it's going to get misunderstood and upset everyone else. Someday, when I'm long dead, the language will shift no doubt.

I think the "Divers" thing is just badly translated from German, where "Divers" would be Diverse as in "anything else but binary" and would be normal in any kind of forms.
Same in French! "Des objets divers" = "diverse objects" so it could be a mistranslation.
That's correct, we even have job ads that say (m/w/d) after the job title. That stands for male, female and "other". As someone in that category I do not like that. "Divers" sounds a bit like weirdos or leftovers or something. But at least there is a recognition that there is someone outside of the binary.
Same for Dutch!

Jamie himself?) deletes nonsensical comments from these videos, I am also glad to (occasionally) be here early on before they've had a chance to clean things up. I like seeing that many many people leave thoughtful and positive comments, and only a very few deranged posters leave lots and lots of inane nonsense.
It's kind of a group effort. Anyone who sees a hateful comment can report it. Sometimes if I have the time, I'll just scroll through the comments section and report all of a particular troll's comments. Obviously I can't get to all of them, and some are so inane that I don't bother. But I definitely try to get rid of the most hateful ones, and certainly any that threaten or imply violence. I know there are some other people who do this also. (Good thing, because I actually have to go to work pretty soon, so I won't be able to right now.) Just ordinary people doing what we can.

So fun! Think my favorite is the " being someone's bisexual awakening" one and the STACK of pictures lol
I am bi, actually. Heartstopper is so good! 💗💜💙
I can't name a specific bisexual awakening, because there were really more than one, but it took a while for me to catch on. But nowadays, when the bi-cycle is going strong, it feels nice to get bisexual reminders - like, what if I'm really just lesbian, then I see someone who convinces me, still into dudes, too. 😂
My bisexual awakening was one of my besties in high school. Had a suggestive dream about her, and then I really couldn't deny it. My pansexual awakening was in adult naughty films tho, when I realized that I liked people with breasts but also a penis. Go figure lmao
@@animeartist888 Ain't human existence just beautifully diverse? 💗
Bi, here, also love Heartstopper 💖💜💙.
Also, I’m demisexual though. Which I didn’t know/understand until here in my 40s. I had 2 long term hetero relationships that spanned my entire adulthood.
Then I realized I fell hard in *all* the ways for someone AFAB in my life that I was close enough to that they’d made it in under my “demi” umbrella.
So I realized I’m bi in my 40s.🤷♀️
@@RM-hi4vv I'm demisexual, too! I actually figured that out before the bi part, because the serious crushes I've had have happened very rarely. I was in my mid-20s when I figured things out, and at that time, I started analyzing my interest in certain female celebrities. I never just see a photo of a celebrity and think they're hot, but after watching a few seasons of a tv show, or a film which really hits me in the feels, I find the attraction, too. In real life, I need that deep emotional or intellectual connection, and once that happens, a switch goes off (or on).

As a Christian, I talk very openly about queer stuff because it is so important to me that queer people know they're safe around me and won't be judged. I also try to talk about queer stuff in Christian spaces as much as I can so cishet Christians know that queer Christians exist and aren't any less Christian for it - although sadly, I do have to be careful and picky with which Christian spaces I share that in. I do need to keep myself safe as well.

"Divers" also means "Various" in French. So it could be for anyone whose gender is fluid?
Maybe they could only write the last option in english...But not the rest.
My brain went to German rather than French, because it’s the standard third option for German and Austrian forms that ask for your gender (since 2018 in Germany and 2019 in Austria).
@@ragnkja Could be that as well!
It would depend on who created the website and their nationality I guess ❔❓
It’s also a valid (if somewhat archaic and definitely very rare) alternative spelling of “diverse”, as used particularly in legal contexts.
Example: "By order of the High Council, this is an impartial inquiry into the behaviour of the accused person, known as the Doctor, who is charged that he, on divers occasions has been guilty of conduct unbecoming a Time Lord. […] He is also charged with, on divers occasions, transgressing the First Law."

I don't know if anyone else has commented that yet, but in Germany, "divers" is actually the third gender option on birth certificates. All job descriptions that don't need a specific gender now have (m/w/d) behind it meaning male/female/divers.
The difference being I then simply educated myself on the meaning and etymology of "cis", accepted/adopted the term and moved on from being initially butthurt 😅.
phonetically, it works super well in YTPs
