Thanks, Mike! So much groove and so melodic throughout as well. Tons of great ideas to explore. Super helpful to see how you connect the riffs over the changes in different positions up the neck.
Awesome video. You are a great player and teacher. Would love to see a video covering different versions of Politician during the Cream days. He blends rhythm guitar with lead licks masterfully!
Thanks Mike, I've been trying to pick this up by ear (from the Clapton/Buddy Guy South Bank Show performance) for some time, on and off, but hit a wall with it. This has helped a great deal, I've picked up lots from this. It's finding the time to try to learn properly and not get distracted by other things, but much appreciated.
This one just appeared in my recommendations - what a treat! The Layla album version has always been one of my favourite Clapton performances and I was made up when he played it the first time I saw him live (1978).
Hi Mike, I’m 66 and I discovered the blues thanks to Éric Clapton with the Layla Derek and the Dominos double live album at the Time he recorded it. My favorite number was Key to the highway and is still. Now I’m playing my first jam sessions and this number will be at the top of my set list for my next stage. Thanks so much for your approach, it helps me a lot. From Geneva, Switzerland I wish you a great new year 🎶🎸💙☮️🙏
Freddie King's version from 'getting ready' is one of my favorites. it's all leads, but rhythmic as hell(like your version at the end, there.)Little Walter, and Derek/dominoes(tho no intro) are great as well. thanx, Mike.
BTW, Blues fans, y' gotta hear the re-mastered one from Layla, here on YT. Duane(motorcycles) is long gone, while Eric seems to have longevity. but the beauty of a recording is, it never dies!!
I follow you since a long time, I will try to write in english..., I really like when you play jazz scales. i would like you to make a video telling us how to start with jazz. I play blues but Im always doing the same old pentatonic scales, you are a great guitarrist and i think yo could make a video spaeaking about creativity or simply about scales. thansk you for all your content.
Hey Mike, great lesson as always. Would you mind sharing what model Les Paul you are using in this vid? That is of my favorite burst tops I have ever seen?
Thanks mike best blues guitar channel keep the clapton songs coming

First time seeing the les Paul. You have some nice gear. Taking Clapton leads is not too shabby.

Hi Jacob... It's a 2016 R8 ... the finish is ice tea burst... thanks for watching & commenting. Mike
Brilliant Mike and thank you. Noticed you're hybrid picking alot, any chance of a lesson on this?
Good idea... will try & do that..
It is very cool! I am doing UA-cam too! I support you from Japan!
You need to get on with Marty Schwartz and get exposure in America. It would double your audience I mean you are 0bviously a great player.
