Great reaction Nicki and congrats for your fist time reaction on cam it was amazing, i love this movie it´s a masterpiece of cinema, the dialogue is sharp, the performances immaculate, and the twists continually surprising. There’s much about the film that stands the test of time. There are some fun-facts about it Brad Pitt refused to make the movie if studio executives changed the ending, he came up with the movie’s ending. He thought that Mills should be the one to kill John Doe, which would give the movie a somber, realistic ending without the big, satisfying moment of retribution that most of these movies have. Initially, executives at New Line Cinema despised this ending, and tried to have it changed. However, Pitt threatened not to do the movie if they changed the ending, and they were forced to relent. Leland Orser went to extreme lengths to prepare for the interrogation scene. In order to nail his intensity in the interrogation scene, Leland Orser did rapid breathing between takes to saturate his body with oxygen and allow him to hyperventilate at will. He also deprived himself of sleep for a few days before shooting the scene, so that he’d look suitably disoriented. David Fincher’s vision for this movie was to essentially make a black-and-white movie in color. He brought on cinematographer Darius Khondji who at the time, was known for shooting perfume commercials to pull off this effect. The signature gloomy look of this film was mainly achieved with a chemical process called “bleach bypass.” Plus, the silver was left in the film stock, which added to the darkness of each shot. Brad Pitt really did injure his warm while filming, so his cast was real and had to written into the movie. Morgan Freeman’s son Alfonso, had a brief cameo as a fingerprint tech. While shooting the gluttony scene, the production poured seven crates of cockroaches all over the set. Reportedly, one of them even crawled in actor Bob Mack’s underwear. The sloth victim Victor was played an actual actor, Michael Reid MacKay, who weighed only 90 pounds during filming. Due to his incredibly slender physique, he’s played roles of creatures/ghosts/monsters in The Monster Squad, Insidious: Chapter 3. During the Greed scene, actor Gene Borkan was covered in so much fake blood that he got stuck to the floor. Despite being a movie about a brutal serial killer, only one kill is seen on screen, when Mills shoots John Doe at the very end. Ironically, 6 years after the movie was released the Patriot Act gave legal permission for library records to be pulled, which this movie made a big deal about being very illegal in 1995. Keep up the good work, im hoping to see more reactions from you on this channel.
"What's in the box?" Fun Fact: When filming the "sloth" victim scene, the SWAT officers were NOT told that the victim was still alive. When the victim coughs and scares the SWAT officers, that reaction is real. Location Location Fact: The diner that Somerset (Morgan Freeman) and Tracy (Gwyneth Paltrow) meet at is the same diner that Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke meet at in Training Day (2001). In fact, they meet in the same booth. It's the Quality Coffee Shop in downtown LA. Standing Together Fact: The ending in the movie is the ending in the original draft of the screenplay that the actors and director had signed on to. Producer Arnold Kopelson had it re-written, and the ending was changed to John Doe (Kevin Spacey) kidnapping Tracy (Gwyneth Paltrow), with Mills and Somerset racing to save her life. When David Fincher, Brad Pitt, and Morgan Freeman read the new ending, they all demanded that the original ending be put back in or they wouldn't do the movie. Art Over Ego Fact: The producers intended that Kevin Spacey should receive top billing at the start of the movie, but he insisted that his name not appear in the opening credits, so as to surprise the audience with the identity of the killer. To compensate, he is listed twice in the closing credits, once before the credits start rolling and once in the rolling credits in order of appearance. Another advantage from Spacey's point of view, as he saw it, was that he was excluded from the film's marketing during its release, meaning he didn't have to make any public appearances or do any interviews.
Well, that's partially correct. The Usual Suspects came out before Se7en and Kevin Spacey was concerned that people would suspect he was the killer in Se7en because (spoiler alert) that was the big reveal in The Usual Suspects. That was the primary reason for him not being mentioned prior to the film's release.
Your whole look was awesome. Your hair is beautiful. This movie is disturbing in many ways, but the "graphic violence" is all in the viewer's head. It's so well done.
That was an intense reaction 😲, i love mystery thrillers and dark things and this definitely filled that criteria David Fincher is a great director of thrillers you should also check out Fight Club and another serial killer movie of his ZODIAC . Saw this when it first came out in ‘95 on my 30th birthday. The theater was dead silent at the end, even when people were walking out. Such a good movie.
I remember seeing this in the cinema when it came out and I don't think have ever been as genuinely near peeing myself in fear and shock as I was when that happened.
Great reaction! Be sure to check out Fincher's Zodiacl (2007) with Robert Downey Jr., Jake Gyllenhaal, and Mark Ruffalo. Also, Fincher's The Game (1997) with Michael Douglas is an excellent thriller that most people have never heard of but is generally well regarded. It's not quite a crime thriller, but I think it would still fit nicely within the theme of the channel.
you got so many correct, it was a head in the box, Mills was the killer, although he only killed one, and you called the wife being a victim early on too. great reaction!
@@bossfan49 I have to agree a bit with that. All the way through, Nicki @criminalcontent (hope I got right spelling, shouldn't be too hard as it in the post, just too lazy to check!) Got so much right but in the wrong way, if that makes any sense? He does technically kill a non convicted suspect (I personally couldn't wait for him to pull the trigger). Apparently there is another filmed ending, though, where Somerset kills John Doe to stop him from completing his plan but also to protect Mills from being prosecuted for murder.
The mainstream audience did not know who Kevin Spacey was at this time. So his appearance was a total mystery. No-one knew what to make of him. It was a brilliant bit of casting, and apparently Brad Pitt gave up a chunk of his salary so they could afford to put Spacey in it, because New Line balked at his price. But with this and his Oscar-winning turn in THE USUAL SUSPECTS Kevin Spacey soon became a superstar.
Oh, awesome hair! Goes well with the rest of what I can only describe as futuristic-goth, but then again, I know nothing about fashion, just reacting to the all black vibe :v
One type of depravity is permitted in a free society. Another type of depravity is inherent in an authoritarian society. This story is asking you to choose which system you prefer. The setting is a dark filter version of today's "mixed economy" society, where most people can't make up their mind about what they really want society to be - free or totalitarian. Hence the effectiveness of the question.
Defense attorneys can live with themselves because it's their job to make sure the state doesn't abuse its power. If someone is acquitted it's because the government fail to prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt. If you or someone you care about was accused of a crime, you'd be grateful for a defense attorney who takes his job seriously.
and the studio tried to change it make it happy happy fun time ending where they ride off into the sunset. but Brad Pitt told them if they changed the ending he would sue them and end his contract with them.

The actor who played the "lust" murder man, deprived himself of sleep for an extended period of time to enhance his frantic behaviour. Now that is some dedication to your role, how ever small. As I understand his career did take off he got more movie roles.
There's one thing Johnny boy missed: if you're found not criminally responsible you don't get let go, you end up in the forensic psychiatry system. With all the crazy shit he's done and how calculated he was in doing it no forensic psychiatrist would ever let him back on the street. They can hold you indefinitely. Though he'd not be doing hard time society would most likely be safe from him. I would have just let him plead insanity. My ending is way less cool but realistic.
Yes, countless movies ripped off the credit sequence to this movie. But none ever matched its twisted atmosphere. The visuals themselves were groundbreaking. Fincher has mastered this ultra-dark contrast-y style. The depth and texture of the lighting was achieved through a photochemical process called 'bleach bypass', which was another thing so many other filmmakers copied from this movie back when movies were actually shot on film. Most notably Steven Spielberg with SAVING PRIVATE RYAN. It really enhances the blacks and gives everything a washed-out look that is still crisp. And it was with SE7EN and FIGHT CLUB that Fincher established himself as a visual perfectionist on par with Stanley Kubrick.
If you dig this ‘90s crime thriller style, screenings of “Silence of the Lambs,” “Fargo,” “Usual Suspects,” and “The Fugitive” are required viewing. You could throw “The Big Lebowski” into the mix, but that’s more of a comedy-caper film, doesn’t revolve around police and crime outright, and is more of a vibe.
Have you watched "American beauty", "American story X " and " Fight Club"? Looking forward to see your reaction on those master pieces! At the begining, on the credit scene, shows the finger prints being pelled off.
Spacey is a creep yes, but man can he take on such a heavy, hated, serial killer's persona and make it believable. Great cast, great writing, and so well acted. And your reaction was very entertaining. Fun stuff.
The problem with this movie, for me, is that Mills' wife is murdered, not for one of the sins and conversely, Mills is not murdered, but is guilty of one. Remember that John Doe is milled because of envy, Mills should have been killed because of wrath. A similarly dark movie you might enjoy is 12 Monkeys, starring Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt, by Terri Gilliam.
Could any of you react to the spider short horror film? Its not crime cinema technically, but I feel it's something you would like. Thanks for your reaction!
Yes, the fat guy had his chest cut open by the coroner. That is part of the job description, since they literally have to see your insides to figure out the cause of death. Especially in a suspected murder case, you have to be sure.
I continue to be confounded by the "it was fed to him" line. He said it was found in his stomach, one assumes that means it was fed to him, no? How else would it get in his stomach? Surgery? Be like if I gave you a ring and said "I found it on her foot." Then walked out and dramatically said "it's a toe ring." Like... what else would one conclude? Why did you deliver the obvious observation as if it was a dramatic reveal? "I found a pencil." .... ... ... ... "he used it for writing."
@@SchulzEricTThey were none prescription sun glasses? Stevie Wonder always wore glasses, did they make him see better? Somerset may have been waiting for the facts before presuming anything and when he was presented with fact he took notice.
Yeah, when she saw the back of the Clif's Notes and they were obviously Clif's Notes and she didn't react, I realized seeing the front wouldn't help. Just tell her they're like hard-copy Wikipedia.
That is not the movie that set Brad Pitt ablaze, as you put it. '12 Monkeys' released a month before 'Se7en' and got him an Oscar nomination and a Golden Globe win, while 'Interview with a Vampire' and 'Legends of the fall' released one your earlier. 'Legends of the Fall' got him a Golden Globe nomination. So when 'Se7en' released he was already quite established as an actor.
The ending was good but I felt it was a forced ending. It could have been, should have been more complete. John Doe being envy didn't totally add up, considering he held most of the human race with disdain and he said he only killed sinners, yet killed Tracy for an unjust reason. Throughout the movie, Mills was obviously wrath, but Somerset was clearly envy. If you analyze the movie, he envied Mills. He envied his passion, his home life, the fact his career was starting off, whereas Somerset was retiring, jaded and broken with nothing to show for it. He even had a line where he said he admired a man showing emotion or something like that. The ending should have done something with that. We'll never know what the original script was
@joey_dangerously I like the movie. Don't get me wrong. It's shocking but the ending is truly out of left field. John Doe behaves suddenly different with the last couple sins. He prides himself on only preying on the sinful and not killing for killing's sake, yet has no problem slaughtering an innocent like Tracy. Doe felt like he was doing a noble thing, then suddenly with the last two sins this was going to be for posterity sake, where he wanted people to think about this. We can maybe agree that Milla was right, that he was a loony, but I felt the ending compromised a strident killer and made him a relatable villain that the audience could condemn, another flawed human and not a remote dedicated serial killer. Se7en is a great movie and I enjoy it (as much as something this grisly can be enjoyed) but wonder what could have been a more satisfying ending
It is somewhat hilarious how she mentions different meanings of "Ew" based on tone, and yet all of them had the exact same sound. Obnoxious comment aside, great reaction.

The dust adheres to the oils left by the human skin.
Now, watch Brad Pitt again in Fury & World War Z.
Great movies
ALSO Cool world.
What a great flick, first movie watched with Mr Pitt as a kid.
There's another great movie as good as Seven that you must watch : Resurrection (1999) staring Christopher Lambert.
What's in the f****** box?
13:02 … Well! Freud was right. Lol😅
If you like Horror watch the movie Barbarian. Cool reaction, thanks.
We'll never know what the original script was
I've never seen a worse take on this movie...
John Doe is right. So is Hannibal Lecture.
🤘🤘😆😆🤘🤘
You couldn’t figure out why Brad Pitt’s character was a the ‘scene of the crime’???? He’s a police detective assigned to the crime no?
It is somewhat hilarious how she mentions different meanings of "Ew" based on tone, and yet all of them had the exact same sound.
Obnoxious comment aside, great reaction.
I have been known to be somewhat hilarious
32:45 what's referred to as your *initial intuition* 🤘
You dont really show much of the movie
Did i watch Nicki Cyrus or Miley Cyrus?
Omg best comment
This is not the movie to show semi transparent, can hardly see anything
Why on Earth did you think Mills was the murderer? I’ve never seen any reviewer who had that reaction.
Ladies, what is Nicki's hairstyle called? I want to get it
It's mostly gel, I think.
I watched a reaction with this girl before, she was just kinda cute, good reaction. Now she’s hot asf 😂 did they do a makeover?
