- Hey guys!
I just had my front driveshaft rebuilt on my 3.8L Automatic Jeep Wrangler JKU Rubicon. I wanted to take a few minutes to talk about why I think modified Jeep owners should upgrade their drive shaft to an after market solution. I also talk about the difference between choosing sealed or greaseable u-joints.

I know this video is old but I wanted to say thanks for making this video. I just purchased my 1st 4 door JEEP Wrangler about a month ago. The previous owner already had some type of 3inch lift on her. I started noticing the frequent vibration issues about a week after ownership. A reputable auto technician recommended that I replace front and rear drive shaft with an aftermarket one. Thanks again.
Excellent video. I'll be replacing my front DS soon, thanks for posting.
I have a TJ lifted it 4 inches but the vibration was there, sad that the videos that talk lift don't go over the importance of being aware to upgrade your SYE AND DRIVESHAFT CONNECT, Great video!
Great video and information around the drive shafts. I will have to come back to this video when the time comes to do this on my Jeep!
MakeYourOwnAdventure thanks for checkin it out!
My front cvo took a crap last week. I ordered Adams 1350 solid front and rear shafts with 2 extra universal joints waiting for them to come in. I went with solid for the strength. Hey jeep, why the hell did you go cvo's? We jeepers want to be able to field fix our rigs dumb dumbs!
drive shaftt u-joints its the same with the front drive shaft u-joints?
Really enjoyed this one. Got. 2018 JK and am lifting with a 3.5 Rubicon express sport lift and 35s. For the first year we might go camping and on some easy dirt trails so I plan on upgrading the front and rear driveshafts after next winter in Canada. My question, after the Rubicon express sport 3.5 lift and the driveshafts, what else should I look out for upgrade wise to extend the life of my Jeep? Are the driveshafts basically the only "must upgrade" after a lift like that?
Any help would be appreciated.
Its hard to answer because the answers depend on your off-road style. I have a lot of must haves but only if you wheel like me. Chdcj out my video about offroading for the first time, I have some good tips in there. I like to have a winch as a must have if wheeling often.
@@Casey250 That's fair. I guess my main concern is more along the lines of things I overlooked like these driveshafts that I should have been aware of. I have full armor for under, bumpers, winch, 360 camera system, rock lights etc but I'm not 💯 percent savvy in regards to possible mechanical parts I should consider upgrading.
We just bought 10 acres of land heavily forested so we got the Jeep for making sure we will have a way in and a way out. Going on trails is just a added bonus.
From what I can tell the driveshafts, even when mostly on road and light off-road would need to be changed so I have been searching for other parts I might have to deal with asap because of the lift I have put on.
IMO all I can really think of once I get a roof rack and start loading that up too is some upgraded breaks.
Thanks for the quick reply and you got a new sub my man. :)
I kind of go with the rule of "replace it when it breaks" lol
@@Casey250 haha I like it.
Adjustable Control arms...
Thank you for the info. I lifted 2.5 but how do I decide why drive shaft I need. Can you supply some me some info I have a 2017 jk sport.
At 2.5inch, probably do no need one unless you experience issues such as clearance when flexing or ripping the boot. Adams driveshafts is a great company that you could get in touch with if you do need one.
Any updates on how the U-joints are holding up ?
Have had no issue since making this video.
