I have never stitched a Mill Hill looked at them many times but didn’t know if I could do one. You mated it look easy so I am ready to just jump in and try one an open up a new whole world of stitching . You were watching the time to see how long it took but when you are learning an having FUN time doesn’t matter 🤔🤔🤔 Love all of your videos look for you each time I start watching floss tube you could make one each week it would be fine with me😃😃😃😃
I was keeping time to know how long it took and also using the time stamps as a way to make people look up. I know I am usually stitching and love it when someone says...look up or something to grab my attention
I enjoyed your video Audrey! I have never stitched any kits, including Mill Hill. I learned something new which was that it matters when beading whether you use a full or a half cross stitch. Thank you!
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. My daughter gave me a Mill Hill kit for my birthday and it was coming along ok - until I got to the beading. This video helped a lot and it is time to get it back out and try again. I love all of your other tips too. Especially doing the loop start on the top. Tried it that way and love it. Thank you again and happy stitching!
Thank you so much for doing this video. I own 2 Mill Hill kits and haven’t had the confidence to start them. I have never beaded. After watching you I want to start one right now. I’ll wait a couple days until I finish my wool appliqué. Can’t wait to do my kit!! Bead
Thank you, Audrey, it is always good to see other processes. I have done several Mill Hills, with several to do. Love your finishing, had not thought about a bookmark, thanks!
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this video. I want to try a mill hill kit and was a bit intimidated on the beading but the methodical way you showed all the steps from start to finish was so informative, I now feel ready to tackle my first kit and my first ever bead although I have been cross stitching for a number of years I have never beaded. P.S. I love watching the progress on your halloween Afghan, absolutely beautiful stitching. Again thank you ❤
Thank you so much for this video!! I started my first kit and it’s full coverage 6x6. I didn’t get very far and felt intimidated because of the paper. You have given me such good information. I feel more confident to it. Thanks again!
Your key bookmark is beautiful. Thanks for doing the video. Very informative and I like the bookmark idea. I have stitched a few Mill Hill kits and have 3 more that I plan to do as gifts. Even though the beading is challenging, I really enjoy it. Take care! ❤️
What type do you like stitching? I have done a flamingo for the neighbor, sugar skulls for my daughter, snowflake ornaments, Halloween and gosh can't remember others 💙🖖
My kits have all been Christmas kits; winter cardinal, Christmas wreath and snowman. I just bought a flamingo kit and an elf kit, both with dangling legs. 😀
Thanks so much for the video. I have several mill hill kits and have never done them cause I wasn’t quite sure how to do the beading. You have answered those questions and I think I could tackle it! Thanks so much !
Thanks for such a great video!! So interesting!! Love that key!! I have several mill hill kits but I have not stitched them yet. Thanks again!! Hugs from NE Ohio.
Is beautiful!! Thank you for doing this! I got 2 Mill Hill wips but I am intimidated….So yes. I will do it now that I can see your video as I do it. Thank you😍
Thank you for a great video.🤗 A little tip.😊 There is a star behind some of the colour names of the beads. The ones with stars behind is in the same bag and the ones without a star is in the other bag. Close colours should be in separate bags.
Thank you Audrey for taking the time and effort for this video. I am only 22 minutes in, learned a lot about the kits. Haven’t got or done one yet, it is high on my want to try this list … but first, continue watching your video
Now I have watched the complete video, looking forward to try it myself. I found a seller in the Netherlands which had a few kit, one to my taste … so within a few days I’ll make a start. Bead, beads, beading .. I have done it once on a Celtic lady. Your key really is a beauty, much nicer stitched up as the pattern showed. Thank you Audrey 🙏
I have 3 Mill Hill Kits that keep screaming at me! I learned a lot from you today. I think I can stitch them now. I like how you put the felt on and then cut it down to size….that is brilliant! Thanks for doing this video and your Key is beautiful 💕
Thanks for sharing your process Audrey. I’ve done beadwork on Sue Spargo style of embellishments but not on cross stitch that I recall pre 2000. And not since I’ve restarted in 2029 thanks to Anna. It would be fun try try and stitch the little kit that you showed us. I have used some tiny beads and would like to try even more petit ones. Your piece finishing was lovely.
Thanks very much for showing how you do Mill Hill kits. I have never done one and would love to give it a try. Finishing it into a bookmark is such a brilliant idea, love it
It was fun to watch you walk through the process. I am not afraid to bead, I have stitched on perforated paper several times, but I have never had a Mill Hill kit. I really love the one you just completed, so I may have to go have a look.
Oh my goodness, I am glad I wasn't stitching while watching this because I totally did a spit take when you mentioned butting your paper against your belly! 🤣🤣 I have done that, but I butt mine against a boob because I am a little nearsighted and my belly is too far away.😜 I have thought about getting some washi tape to frame the edges so my floss doesn't catch. Thanks for the video. I love the key.
How did I only just stumble across you? Loved your video! Have often thought I’d like to try one of those kits and it was very enabling to see your progress. Thank you 😊
Love your finish, and thanks for all the great tips and instructions. I have not done a Mill Hill kit but would like to try. I love the dimension the beads gave your bookmark. Thanks
I have not stitched Mill Hill before. I want to try them, but just haven't acquired one yet. I am just starting to do some Beading on Just Nan pattern. I really enjoyed this video...thank you so much. I did have one pattern and had to bead. Could not figure out how to do it. Now I know to use a Beading needle. Looking forward to trying again with this extra knowledge.
Beading adds a whole different element to projects...just look at Mira's and Chataleins. But for some those are too big a project and Mill Hills can/are small and easy and beautiful 💙🖖
I rewatched this video today and started a Mill Hill Christmas ornament. I have the cross stitches done for 5 colors. Going well so far. Thanks for the motivation. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Thank you so much. Have never done any Mill Hill kits, where do you start, what do you do, how do you sew on the beads. Now I know and feel ready to start! Thanks again!
Loved watching this! I think I have this one or Autumn Key in my stash...if I don't have this one, I'm going to have to get it! Haha! Happy crafting my friend! 🦩🦩🦩
Thanks for the great video, really inspiring. I’ve been intrigued and tempted to try a mill hill kit, but felt a little intimidated. And totally flummoxed on how to attach a bead, so this was great insight. It looks like a lot of fun, and your key came out beautifully!! 💫
This is my 3rd attempt at trying to comment! Thanks for the shout out. I had a question about the beads you had to look up. Were they in the same bag? They usually have the different beads that are in one bag marked with an asterisk on the list of beads. Also - there is a Mill Hill Cross-Stitch Kit group on Facebook where people can ask questions and show off their Mill Hills that has some good ideas for finishing also. Your key is beautiful and I love the way you turned it into a bookmark. Very informative video. I stitch mine a little differently than you so it was nice to see how you do it. I usually don't worry about the center unless it is one I am going to get framed and start from the side or bottom. I also trim the annoying jagged edges off because they drive me crazy - or as my husband would say, crazier! Don't enter me for the kit because you know I have way too many of them to stitch in my lifetime as it is! 💜
actually I think this kit was packaged wrong, the dark gray/green Bayleaf beads were in both bags, there was suppose to be abalone beads for the hanger and they were not there, which was ok as I didn't use them. I belong to several fb groups and hardly ever go in to them, mostly I just read my friends posts and play backgammon. I understand and respect your crazy...or crazier....lol
I like your bookmark finish. Not sure if I would be brave enough to clip so close. I am going to add the stick on felt to my wish list, it seems to be a great option for finishing. I have done a few mill hill kits and have done beading on some Mirabilia ladies. Would love to bead the honey bee kit.
Hi there. I have at least 5 of the Santa/Jim Shore kits and also a black pumpkin kit as well. I’m totally intimidated by starting them.😳 maybe I can try now.
Audrey, I've stitched lots of Mill Hill kits both the beads and buttons along with the ornaments and love them. Did you ever think of putting painters tape on the edges. It doesn't leave a residue. I normally use the sticky felt but someone on Flosstube said they used sticky velvet, I'm going to try it. I use the small bowls you would have soy sauce in if you were at a sushi restaurant. I am going to try finishing one color at a time when I do my next kit, thanks for your take on stitching the kits. The key is absolutely gorgeous. Oh, I forgot to mention that I did the Mill Hill bead kit the woody car with the Christmas tree as pillows. I did it on 10 count Klostern cloth and used larger beads. They turned out amazing.
Someone suggested washi tape because it's low tack. I am pleased that I have gotten comments from both people who have/have not stitched Mill Hill kits. 💙🖖
I've stitched a couple of the Mill Hill Sugar Skulls. My struggle is actually with the pattern. i always have to enlarge it so I can see the different symbols. Now I'm off to see if I can find that Antique Key set.
I did not realize there was a needle threader for these. I have put it on my 123 stitch wish list. Thank you!
