    TJ Tony Johnson is the unsung hero of our game! The energy, the knowledge and the passion that exudes through his commentary is unmatched in my opinion. Keith Quinn and Nisbo are absolute legends beyond a shadow of a doubt for sure but for me Tony Johnson stands alone.
    “The Breakdown” is a great show, years in the making, that was started at scratch as “Re-Union” hosted by the man himself TJ. He’s truly unsung and no rugby game is as good as when he is commentating

    Richie Mo'unga is good, but not good enough to change the whole eligibility system in nz, just to cater to one player. If Robertson can't adapt and use /develop the players we have got, then is he the right man for the job

      @@LZAK123 It's about the eligibility rules per se not any particular player. The starting point should be - we want NZs best players to be playing for the ABs. I actually believe it's quite simple. Just select them wherever they are playing. We are talking about 3-4 players maximum at any time. This fear of a massive exodus is misplaced as there aren't as many overseas options available these days due to overseas players quotas and financial constraints.

    • @LZAK123
      @LZAK123 Місяць тому

      @@jamesblewman yeah I agree, it's about a bigger discussion around player eligibility. I just didn't like the rhetoric online, etc, saying that we need Mo'unga and therefore need to change the eligibility rules.
      Re overseas eligibility. What number of players would you consider a mass exodus? My number is around 15. Players ranging from current AB's stars to uncapped fringe players. My concern has always been about how eligibility effects super rugby and npc. I'm not worried about stars like Ardie leaving. I am more worried about up and coming/ fringe AB players leaving. If you take out too many guys who aren't great international players (yet) but are great super rugby players, imo that will negatively effect the on feild rugby product

    • @jamesblewman
      @jamesblewman Місяць тому

      @@LZAK123 One way would be to implement a minimum number of test caps. As I said earlier there's not as many overseas opportunities as there used to be. For starters I do think that NZers playing for any team in Super Rugby regardless of location should be eligible.

    • @LZAK123
      @LZAK123 Місяць тому

      @jamesblewman re overseas opportunities. Unless you know actually numbers etc. I would slightly disagree with you. Yes, there are not as many overseas opportunities, but imo, clubs over Europe, Japan, USA, the potential UAE leage, that is still a lot of options

    Richie Mo’ ain’t the answer - just back DMac 💯 but give him a decent midfield. He needs a proper 12 who can crash it up and/or offload and a proper13 who can distribute. ABs have two too many Barretts: it is a good thing that JB is off to Leinster; as for BB, it’s high time he went the way of TJP and Cane once and for all. Raygun Robertson et al need more vision for the backline - how about getting CC into 12, Rieko and Jordan revert to 11 & 14 respectively, and develop Proctor and Love at 13 & 15 for starters?

    If Henry and Hansen were coaching the All Blacks in 2024, their winning % would be much lower than the 85% they had. All teams are much better defensively now especially with rush defense. All Blacks don’t get the space to score tries like in the past as a result. Even during the great All Blacks era we lost to South Africa 3 times in 1 year in 2009. 2009 had 4 losses including 2 lost at home. The 85% win rate is never coming back because the sport is far more competitive than its ever been. All teams have access to modern coaching and training systems. McCaw would be heavily scrutinised in this TMO era.

    The way we played against France was nuts. We rarely kicked and chose to dominate possession. We have good skills but is there any team who can operate skillfully for that amount of time fatigued and under duress without errors or turnovers? We needed to be more pragmatic, as France were, and pick our moments to show off our skills. Why did we not kick to reset and for territory and attack only when it was truly on. We played that way the week before in Ireland and won.

    Biggest 'take away' from this year is decision making from the coach and capt. scot barrett. wrong decisions made at crucial stages, against boks they should have taken the points when they were up 20 points( its bleeding obvious you consolidate your winning position) against s.a , eng and Ireland they needed to take the try or go for try instead they went for goal kick. Robertson is learning on the job which is a huge 'no no' hanson foster spent year and years building up with wales and other teams before they were even considered international coach worthy. So far foster is better than robertson there is no escaping that, so next year if they dont do better then yes epic fail. However they will do better since they wont have to put up with woker perenara and cane who is not in the others class. Next year Darry has to play and Lord has to play , we need height . I have no problem with vaii since he gets turn overs.scot barrett the same case hes worth his weight in gold. this year Roigard is only in his infant stages and yet already hes the best halfback in the world. harking back to justin marshal type running and strong except his pass is much better and hes faster. My worry is robertson wont get rid of slowpok rece. we needed epic speed like all the other top rugby nations do kolby case in point. Jordan needs to be our right winger dmac should be our FB and bb is our 10 case closed.

The player completes 50 tests, then can go offshore knowing they can still fight for a place. NZRU dont have to cough up huge salaries to compete with Japan and France, and the likes of Mo'unga going off shore opens a birth at the Crusaders for new talent
