Actually movable letters where invented by Peter Schöffer, his business associate. But Schöffer only had money for wooden letters, Gutenberg "stole" his idea and had enough money to make letters out of metal. I lived and raised in the town "Gernsheim", where Schöffer was born. There is also a statue and a school named after him.

And who told you that? Schoffer from his grave?. Because no other scholar actually refutes that gutenberg invented the movable printing press. there is always some nutjob spreading rumours and contrarian information
is there any more indepth analysis of this topic? I can't find anything more then the superficial stuff when I search for it. - who were the second level printers, - how did they get access to the technology - what is the cost comparison of a hand copied book versus a printed one. It is obvious that there is a cost difference, but are we talking about factor 2 or 100? - what were the first books printed, other then the church texts? I hear travel literature was popular. ..... any help would be appreciated.

Story Time(...) Me and Richard III started arguing over who was gonna to pay for the bill. "Richard, if he wants to pay." "Anne said, and I said in response to her " Shut up !" Richard III Said in response " You can't talk to my wife like that." And I said, "Oh,yeah ? What are YOU going to do about it ? "
Knowledge is power and control people were so hungry to hear the gospel in their own language and it ended the corrupt latin vulgate that was so prevalent in the Catholic Church.
I agree with you , the western countries just stole the credit of inventing the printing press from the Chinese and as you have rightfully written , the printing press was invited in China around 1000 AD / BC before the Europeans hoged ( stole ) it's blueprint and made it in Europe
Partially true. The Chinese had simplistic wooded moveable type set in a wood block. The printing press is a far more efficient and advanced device. It’s a bit like comparing a flint knife to a samurai sword. While u r correct the concept of a blade a fixed to a handle is far older. The two aren’t comparable in most other ways.
@@ushathingbaijam4562 the Chinese invented movable type. The printing press is a device. They are not the same. They didn't steal the printing press. Now the printing press uses movable type. But just because you use ketchup, but didn't invent it doesn't mean you stole it. So no.
This is how people in the future will describe the Internet.
When you go to the future and come back, then you will be able to speak with authority. Projection is all the rage NOW.
People are already saying that about the computing revolution starting around the 40s and 50s. Same will happen for the Internet in the 2060s onwards.
I took a History of the Book class in college, and how books were being made through history was awesome!

The *movable type* printing press changed everything. Earlier printing presses were much too inefficient.
By inefficient do you mean useless?
@@wrpg9955 Inefficient has a specific meaning. Google it.

The man wanted to get rich and famous but died right before his brilliant ideal got off the ground....
Talk about harsh!
So we all have to thank China then, for both printing and paper
I read an old dandy annual which claimed a guy named William craxton invented the print and press
Is he in any ways relevant or were they misinformed
hello i have a question
was everyone able to have books???
Fed is thankfull😂
The printing press was a technology that existed in China around 1,000 AD/BCE before it was invented in Europe.
