- On October 31, 1517, a rebellious German monk named Martin Luther is said to have nailed his Ninety-Five Theses to the door of Castle Church. This simple act of protest sparked a religious revolution that would split Western Christianity and shake the foundations of Europe's cultural identity.

Imagine Luther having to decide if he wants to nail his pamphlete on the right or the left door.
"Luuuther!", the narrator cried, "that kills people!"
And then coming to a set of two open doors, Luther took the one that lead to the division of the Catholic Church....

This is well-made and educational. It's a light-hearted introduction to the Martin Luther and the Reformation, and if it encourages people to find out more than this short film has done a brilliant job.
Wessie P it’s widely inaccurate

As I am interested in learning more, can you provide some information (links, videos, etc.) on this subject?
yeah
More like Martin Luther the Anti-Jew and the Protestant Heretical Schism
First they'd have to fact check this video. Starting with the fact he didnt post the theses on the door. While it acted as a bulletin board yes it was only an announcement posted of his presentation, of the theses. He also didnt split Catholics and protestants. Henry the 8th did that. Sigh I weep at all the inaccuracies

wanted to fix the Church he knew but instead spilt the Church in two. That about sums it up. Then the protestant part just kept splitting and splitting and splitting
Well, at least he had done one of the things that were required to finally end Middle Ages in Europe. Put a start to a very important process. English Reformation shortly after was the final coffin to that period.
The other side of the coffin however was nailed by italian merchants.
If not for him, we'd both be peasants working the land to this day.
That and the fact that unfortunately in some of those splits some isolationist, harmful and even dangerous cults have appeared even to this day :(
@@IsAcRafT what's unfortunate in them being examples of people's faith and organised religious institutions being not the same thing and that fanatics are dangerous no matter the faith?

Wow no mention at ALL of what the Luther's Reformation was REALLY about (salvation by faith vs works)?
The dispute about indulgences was merely the gateway that led Luther into the argument of salvation by faith. I guess I can't expect a secular institution to talk about that...

It'll be nice to see more of these.:)
We appreciate your feedback!
I loved it. Do more. I hadn't picked up on the trouble caused by Luther translating the Bible into a language regular people could read.
More errors come with translating, I guess
Luther happened to live in the age when the printing press was invented. It’s helpful to realize that the vast majority of people were illiterate in medieval times and before. That’s why pictures were painted on the walls of churches and stained glass windows served the same purpose. The only Bible that existed, pre-Heidelberg, was a hand written manuscript that was worth lots of money.
Yeah, that’s Lutheran propaganda. Don’t believe the lies, do your research.
In Luther's defense, he genuinely wanted to teach Biblical doctrines - he wouldnt have called himself "rebellious"
love the animations XD He looks likes little ceasers guy, great video!

My brother laughed at the noses we love that video awesome we gave it a big Thumbs up👍❤️
Just a quick addendum. Vernacular versions of the bible were made throughout the pre-medieval period and medieval period. Luther's German translation was not the first vernacular bible.
There were actually 18 German translations of the Bible. Fourteen were written in High German and four were written in Low German.
Loved it..
This was actually very educative and funny at the Same time! 😀
About as educational as anything from PBS or the modern History Channel are, anyways. Grossly oversimplified, egregious errors, and quite a bit of context left on the cutting room floor.
Love this kind of this animation!
i love it...so simple but so good and clear

I learnt about Martin Luther and the reformation from the concept album by Neal Morse called 'The Door'
Orthodox eating popcorn watching this: "Yeah, how does it feel now Catholics? Now you're the one who gets split!"
This video presents knowledge in a simple way. I like the silliness too.
This is beautifully made. They forgot to mention that thanks to the printing press people were able to actually buy a Bible for themselves
It is a myth that Luther nailed his Thesis to any door.
The best way to teach something. Super entertaining!

I like when Catholics smugly say something along the lines of, "you follow the Bible, but who do you think canonized it(implying them)". My response "then why aren't you the first ones to follow it over tradition?"
*Puts sunglasses, mic-drops, ascends to heaven.
Jabberwocky, tradition and scripture are both valid. Paul said so when he wrote that the people should listen to their (non biblical) oral teachings. See 2 Thesallonions 2:15.
@@obligatoryusername7239 The phrasing of "spoken words and letter" was just a way of saying everything Paul taught, not referring to the Bible as a whole or church elders as a whole. Church tradition comes from long after Paul's teaching. It's not the same.

I don't think martin would have never intended to split the church
I don't think so either. I'm sure he would have liked the whole Church to follow the Bible rather than much of it sticking with "Catholic" tradition.
Yup he just want to reform.
Question for all of you guys. Why is there still a protestant religion if there founder never intended to split up the church?
@@nomadiccheese4911 , as it says in the video, people started arguing, things got out of control......
It comes down to people wanting CONTROL over others. Got to love human nature.
It doesn't really matter what he intended tbh. He had a cause and it made an effect. We can't really determine what he was thinking, though I believe he has said on some occasions that he intended for reform rather than the splitting on the church, so you may be right.

@Knights Templar Christianity and Islam are both from the middle east. Christianity destroyed true European religions.
@Knights Templar It's not. Christianity originated in the Middle East, and was brought to Europe. The original Europeans were PAGAN. Hellenists in Greece. Druids in Ireland/England/Gaul. Norse pagans in Scandinavia. Christianity replaced it all by killing or converting them. They cut off the pagan boys long hair, and forced them to attend Christian schools and hate their ancestors traditions.
