Science, technology and art come together at Virginia Tech

Jacqueline Bruen, a Ph.D. student in Industrial Systems Engineering at Virginia Tech, and researcher Myounghoon Jeon are working with a local dancer named Sumin to integrate technology with performance art. While Sumin performs, a Qualisys motion tracking system detects movement and breathing, which in turn changes the sound design and visual playback on computer screens.
Within computer science, Bruen's specific niche is human and computer interaction. Her work is primarily related to helping people enhance their artistic practice through the use of technology.
