    This hit home with me. I was in this situation, sort of. My dad sexually abused me and my sister, it was on base. He served 3 years total in fort Leavenworth, dishonorable discharge. I haven’t spoken to him since. He died the day he decided to touch us and no longer our father at that point. He keeps trying to contact me, trying to go through my husband and my son. My husband told him to get lost because I don’t want nothing to do with him. Now he’s playing the you have to forgive me because I’m dying card. I know it sounds cold but after years of ptsd, depression, guilt, and anxiety, that’s the only way I can cope.

    • @GallifreyanOrphan
      @GallifreyanOrphan 2 роки тому +161

      Similar situation here, but my dad died about 12 years ago. When he was sick, my mother (whom he had married when she was a teenager and beat and cheated on her for 10 years before throwing the family out to move his gf and her kids in, and that was before the CSA started) tried on a sob story about how he "just wants to know his kids". No. He had decades for that and he did what he did. I know they say forgiveness heals and how it's harder on the grudge carrier, but I care not. My brother and his wife cared for him while he was dying, my mother visited him a lot, but I made it clear he was dead to me long before that point. You don't have to forgive jack. If someone did that to my sister or brother or kid, I'd never forgive them. Why should I forgive someone who did it to me? Therapy has helped, PTSD and anxiety suuuuuuck, but you have zero obligation to someone who was supposed to protect you and instead did that.

      Misinformation is dangerous. UA-cam have many flaws. But the reason this videos get recommended less and don’t have ads is to protect brands and children. Children should not watch this and while it is the parents responsibility but no parent have total control over what their kids are watching. by not recommending this videos less kids are going to be exposed to this. It is also a sensitive topic and victims of sexual abuse may also want to stay away from videos like this because it can trigger ptsd.
      Also brands don’t want you to think about negative things and their brand. Because our mind is going to connect their brand with bad things and bad people and be less prone to buy their product.

    I think the punishment was more severe because the civilian court allowed the military to fully take over. The UCMJ article 120 much more clearly defines what the guy did as illegal, plus the UCMJ has a catch all article, article 134 which is called the general article that allows charges for “conduct unbecoming.” So from the civil prosecution perspective it would make less sense for him to stand trial as a civilian because he’d probably walk away with a slap on the wrist, but more sense to allow the military to take over where he’d be guaranteed to get a much more severe punishment. He can however have been tried in both courts for the same crimes which may have beefed up the punishment

    I believe in the military, if you're caught outside and charged through the civilian court, you dont go through the military justice system. It's one or the other, not both. But with sentencing like this, it'd bring a dishonorable discharge.

    • @katelizabeth7264

      It's both. The military has priority so they would come pick him up from the civilian jail and he would be in a military prison while he's going through court and all of that and then his sentencing and then he served whatever time he has in a military prison. Once he's released from the military prison and everything's all said and done, then the civilian justice system can sleep in and pick him up and charge him however they were originally going to charge him. So he would have to serve two sentences in two different Justice systems. I know this 100% for a fact as my stepmother and sister are both military lawyers, and a family friend literally went through the situation like that. Not anything to do with kids, it was a drug thing that he was struggling with, but he dealt with basically the exact situation in which I just stated.

    The whole thing about “oh you say you didn’t mean to do it, so we’ll let you go,” is pretty true. My father admitted to being a pedo in court shortly after I was born. For whatever reason, they allowed him to have unsupervised visitation. He sexually abused me until I was 13, at which point he decided he wanted nothing to do with me anymore. He was also physically abusive to the point that I now have permanent disabilities. But that’s another story. He didn’t serve any time at all despite overwhelming evidence against him because he simply told the officers that he didn’t do anything. They believed him over me and all the evidence, and they told me that even if it were true, it was his right as my father to do those things to me.
    These videos also always bring a smile to my face. I love to see people standing up for children, and I’m so glad that this show caught these predators. I wish it would continue running. I’m not going to try and sue all the officers and CPS workers or even the organizations. Too much trouble and not worth it in my opinion. Over the course of 13 years, my case got passed around a lot. So many different agents handled my case that it would be impossible to go through them all. But I did have a lawyer from when I was 8 to 13. My parents were in a custody case, and it was supposed to give me more of a say in the outcome. I’m considering suing her. She had full and total ability to get me out of that situation and she didn’t. Not only that, she tried to have me committed to a mental institution because she thought I was insane for even suggesting that my father was abusive. She had records to all the CPS cases and to court records that my father was a diagnosed sociopath. But I’m the insane one. I’m also considering suing the therapist I had as a child. She put me in direct danger (and she knew it) by telling my father everything I said in the sessions about his abuse. It only made the situation worse. She probably also violated some HIPPA stuff. But that’s the extent of the legal action I’m taking for now.
