    Not too many people can say they were a student of Bruce Lee. Almost no one can say they were a teacher of Bruce Lee, but Wally Jay is definitely in that club. I'm not one of those crazy Bruce Lee fans, but he was known to be particular to whom he paid respect, but by all accounts, he very much respected Wally Jay.

    I have all the volumes of teaching his art. You can see the expertise of this master. He was teaching even after he had the open heart surgery. He died of a stroke in, I believe, Alameda, CA. In the early "70's , Prof. Jay was a strong proponent for Judo. He grazed the cover of Black Belt Illustrated. I just feel the pain who on the receiving end. One f my classmates in Sin Moo Hapkido used the pressure points (16:08) , it hurt. Prof Jay's concept is much clearer than when I learned the Chi na techniques from Jwing Ming at Purdue University. 33: 54 is the one technique (pow wang chingka) that reminded me of Jwing Ming

      Thanks for the comment, I enjoy reading of others journeys and stories. I too have learned the hard way with these applications by being my own instructors uke when he was introducing the small circle concept to me through modern arnis applications. I am a fan of Professor Wally Jay's material.

      That's what I choose to believe, because whenever Bruce Lee saw something in a particular martial art, and thinks it will benefit him, he'll become interested and befriended the master and learn from him. I think he's a pioneer of that, instead of challenging the master you make friends and learn with them.

      All of this stuff was pressure tested at one point. Do you think it would still be taught if it wasn’t legit? MMA isn’t the gatekeeper of martial arts and it mostly certainly isn’t self defence. Sport and self defence are not the same thing.

      its an all depends scenario. The idea with holds and restraints is to use distraction first and not chase these locks and restraints from the get go. There needs to be an entry before an execution.

      Absolutely! The eye rake via Kali works very well. When someone throws a “haymaker” for example Paul Vunak say just eye- rake and they are wide open for anything including small circle ⭕️ joint locks, headbutts , elbows, whatever 😎,

    • @ArnisRisingHFS
      @ArnisRisingHFS  4 місяці тому +4

      Now, I don''t normally entertain these kinds of ignorant comments on videos I have shared but I'm going to make an exception on this one.
      I'd love it if you could share your resume in martial arts and use of it in real situations then sir and while you are at it post some videos of yourself up on youtube for the world to see doing your flavour of martial arts.
      Jujitsu, Aikido, Judo, BJJ it all started with Jujitsu all the rest came from the mother art which is actually quite extensive, you have seen one demonstration video and my guess is you saw only a small fraction of this video and decided to call it a pointless martial art, and you are entitled to your opinion.
      I've worked the doors of some pretty rough areas, I've used this stuff quite a bit as a bouncer. I know from years of experience and hundreds of altercations in my career that this stuff is legit. I have 36 years experience in real world fighting and martial arts and I've been around some of the best at their game that go unrecognised because they're not professional competitive fighters, they're the real deal guys who work with violence for a living and I count myself lucky to have walked among them at different times in my own career.
      I'm going to assume that you are a keyboard warrior that doesnt truly understand violence and human psychology and has no idea of how and when this stuff is actually applied in real live situations.
      Enjoy your trolling sir. I wish you well in your search for your truth.
