    You, Sir, are to be applauded for not only finishing this hike, but filming your hike as you went. Your filming surely involved multiple times back tracking to capture this marvelous scenery. Job well done, Sir.

    I've been hiking this exact same trail with my dad in October 2018 (a few months before you). We were late and on the way back we ecnountered two bears. As Europeans, we've never seen wild living bears and we freaked out quite a bit. Crazy memories.

    Pretty sure we saw you at roughly 2:30pm california time, on 95 (you were heading south, we were heading north), about 10 or 15 miles south of the Nevada border. My wife was pointing going, "that's him!" Your kayak is what got us thinking it was you. Hope you're having a great time!

    Dude. Seriously. That was the best episode you've ever posted. It had everything-Yosemite, waterfalls, Sprotsmobile, Mojave, cooking pizza, fun 4WD trail...Great angles. I've never subscribed to any Uboob channels before but you converted me. I'm a Landcruiser guy but respect your Jeep and how you handle it. Good luck on all your maintenance and look forward to following your travels east.

    I remember camping in the White Mountains of NE Arizona some years ago. I spent 5 days in one camp waiting out some bad weather. When I packed up and fired up my Nissan Frontier, the engine sounded horrible. I popped open the hood and discovered that mice had chewed through two of my spark plug wires. My only option was to head the 30 miles back to Springerville running on 4 cylinders instead of six. On several of the steeper hills on the highway, I had to shift down into low range to make the climb. To add insult to injury, the auto parts store charged me $150 for a new set of plug wires! Hope your battery wires were a lot cheaper. BTW, you're having great adventures.

    It seems tempting to think ' the grass is greener' regarding switching to an earthroamer or sports mobile or toyota something or other,,,but in all seriousness you do have the best option in my opinion, dimensions of Jeep,ease in which to set up camp, compactness, capability/ mobility, etc..a proven chassis and you are familiar with it,,just add that needed recovery gear and you are golden..

Of course, when I think about it, my 4x4 truck cost a leg and kidney. Wait Chris: wha'?! Y'all Jeep boys just have to go over that one rock? Maybe it was only way, but looked clear from here. Looked like you just HAD to go over it. Oh me, a Campmobile! We've had two of those, a new 1974, then a 1968.

    Oh man, the balloons. You know those fun little parties people have, having such a blast letting their silver shinny balloons go into the air... Guess where they always wind up! Yep, the forest. I can't count how many times im in the middle of nowhere hiking, no trails straight bushwacking, and come across those balloons. If you all see people letting the balloons go, remind them they are littering the forest for some stupid photo op. Maybe they don't teach it anymore, but "what goes up must come down".

    While you are in California this time of the year, you should go to King of The Hammers race in Johnson Valley. Its a great race and fun to see, but the true pleasure for me is looking at the 100k people and the campers and camping lifestyle that is on display. You see it all and it would make a fun trek for you.

    Chris, dude, you've gotta put some veggies on that cheese pizza. Some diced onions, some green peppers, or *something*! Same goes for your grilled cheese sandwiches. Put a thin slice of onion between two pieces of cheese to make it a bit healthier. I hope you're eating apples and other fruit off camera, too.
    Love the camera work, and that you just go with the ambient sound. Beautiful settings don't need a music track.
    Take good care.

    Rodent tip, prop your hood when you make camp. Let it get cold. They only love engine compartments because its warm. While grabbing and shaking stuff do your control arms, tie rod, and drag link. Its all diy, just time consuming and most special tools you can borrow from the major auto parts stores. If you are still in that area check out excelsior mine road, not too rough, seldom traveled and neat ghost towns. You are always a state away by the time i cimment anyways lol. If you end up wherever im at i also volunteer my time tools and hands.

    A trick that has worked for me to combat the mice is to slice up Irish Spring barred soap and litter the troubled areas to prevent them coming in or hanging around. They must hate the aroma. You can also use dryer sheets with lavender scent. Your vehicle will always smell fresh. Bonus.

    • @takayama1638
      @takayama1638 5 років тому

      That really works, eh? The Altoids won't melt and make a mess?

    • @insaynbcr
      @insaynbcr 5 років тому +1

      @@takayama1638 .. Works yes! Rodents hate peppermint. Sticky mess, possibly. Actually, I think grinding them into a powder and melting into some light oil like 3 in 1 oil and dabbing it on various places around the engine bay would serve reasonable expected results without worry of a sticky mess. Or do the same thing with straight peppermint oil, dabbed or spritzed here and there would do the same thing.

    • @gilvietor1918
      @gilvietor1918 5 років тому +4

      It is so odd how rodents just love it under there. I did not know that about peppermint, very cool. In Oregon we had a huge problem with mice in the garage, almost instantly. Had the cat stay in the garage for a night, woke up the next day and she had killed 8 mice, all laying at the door. Man that was a great cat.
