BYU Basketball & Kevin Young Building Promising Foundation For Big 12 Success | BYU Cougars Podcast

  • The BYU Cougars continue to build out Kevin Young's vision for the BYU men's basketball program with the hires of Will Voigt and Tim Fanning as BYU basketball assistant coaches and it's clear that what KYU hopes to build at Brigham Young University (BYU) will have a sturdy foundation while also allowing his players to live their dreams in the NBA and elsewhere.
Jake Hatch then talked about the impending visit of Jamari Phillips to BYU and what his possible addition to the BYU hoops program could do to take an already-strong lineup and embolden it even further with the thought that there could be role players in Provo that are top-tier recruits and that's only going to make the Cougar Cagers that much better.
Finally, the show wrapped up with some reaction to Daniel Schneeman and Justin Sterner making strong Major League Baseball debuts as former BYU baseball stars and a look at what the BYU football program did to woo four-star prospect Micah Matthews on his recent visit to Provo and if Kalani Sitake, Aaron Roderick and the rest of the Cougars can land his commitment.

Expectations for BYU basketball are clearly sky high. Hopefully we cut the coaching staff and players a little slack if (and when) things don't go as expected. Still very exciting times!

If they can't win a conference championship in five years, it means it isn't working.

the problem with KY is if he proves to be a good hire. He's getting NBA and blue blood job offers before the vision finalized

He was already getting NBA job offers lol. We’re fine

As mentioned by another, KY had an NBA head coaching job this summer if he wanted it. He had done it - he had reached the pinnacle of basketball coaching. And he CHOSE to give that up to come to BYU. He may go back to the NBA someday, but it won't be anytime soon. He's not at BYU to build up his resume. He had already built it up all the way to an NBA head coaching gig. So he's not going to ditch BYU for any other college job and he's not going to get back on the NBA coaching ladder any point soon. Probably won't even think about the NBA again until his kids are out of the house. KY is the perfect man for BYU - he actually wants to be here and he's at the very top of his profession.

Yeah, KY chose BYU over NBA head coaching jobs because he wants the BYU lifestyle. Dude isn't going anywhere.

KY taking this job was all about his family life. He won’t depart any time soon.

Man BYU is all in on basketball and couldn’t give a crap about the football program. Steve Young, Andy Reid, and etc need to call them out or step in and start offering generous donations to get the football team rolling. BYU recruiting in the big 12 football wise is embarrassing. I have a feeling Kalani Sitake will be fired after another losing or average year. Problem is there aren’t many CFB coaches that are LDS.

With todays competitive and WOKE enviornment, how long will it take for one of these "one and done" players to have some woman accuse him of breaking the BYU Honor Code with her? That could happen. It could also be true with one of these players. Like the NBA, I hope Coach Young advises these players to watch out for people who want to harm them this way.

no way you actually just used the word “woke” unironically😂😂😂

@@janson301 I guess as long as you understand what I said then all is ok. Maybe I should have added woke "college" environments but either way it is still the same. Take note that these kind of false accusations have already happened at BYU when trhe DUKE vollyball player falsely accused someone at their game yelling racist slurs at her and her teammates. That type of woke mindset is exactly what I am talking about.

@@outsideview9052 i agree with the Duke volleyball shit, but saying the word woke is just hilarious to me, you probably think Trump's election and court case with that pornstar was rigged LMAO

@@janson301 I suspected you were a Leftist Democrat but to laugh off or criticize the use of the term "WOKE" when describing todays Social Justice fanatics and legal environment implys that you prefer to argue about words rather than the policies that make up that term. I suppose for a person who cant define what a woman is, how many genders there are, and or who calls advocating for a two parent family "white supremecy" then no one other than another Leftist Dem would care about your opinion in the first place. Best of luck to you.

Why should they? The reason why they don’t invest millions is because byu football is known for loosing football, lack of player development 😂
That’s a poor ROI for investing millions when Arod and all the other stupid cosches can’t develop duh 😂😂
