Found one of these in the garbage a few months ago. Cleaned the wood, but searching for some missing hardware. I’d like to make a matching one. Glad to see this!
So weird, I was searching for Titanic deck chair plans the other day after studying some of the furniture on the great ocean liner. And now this Norm video droppes! No one else I'd rather watch make it!
What a difference those full-size templates would have made with the Lutyens bench I built. I will agree with Norm, it is a very challenging build. Transposing the plans to working templates took months. I might consider building a few of these now. All of my many projects are a direct result of the skills learned from the Master Craftsman Norm.
I have seen an original deck chair from the titanic in the maritime museum in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. This one looks a lot like the original, job well done.
Rockler had made a kit back in the day but it's no longer available. We also don't have full size plans anymore! We looked for something equivalent and the only place we found them is in Denmark.
@@newyankeeworkshop Since the plans are computer generated, wouldn't the full size printouts be possible from the smaller drawings in the plans, so long as the scale is indicated? That's done frequently in sewing patterns--makers either tape together home printed pages or send out to a print shop for large format printing. I would also think, as otherwise suggested, that 3d printing might make the hardware possible, as well. While generating 3d print files is a complicated task, I bet it's one that this community could cover!😉 It would be worth it to bring back these lovely loungers.
You know, Norm? Those templates for this chair, and the all weather loveseat, that I've seen in season 20, but on another channel, I think that the 2 in 1 usage for the leg shapes, and mortises are very useful layout tools for those who bought the measured drawing on the New Yankee website, and will really challenge the woodworker with such good techniques of your level!
Before we use any power tools let’s talk about shop safety. Be sure to read, understand, and follow all the safety rules that come with your power tools. Knowing how to use your power tools properly will greatly reduce the risk of personal injury. And remember this: There is no more important safety rule, than to wear these, safety glasses.
“I wonder who Russ is?” How I loved this show ! Blessed to be able to watch again here…

Oh, I am building this ! Sweet
A work of art, as usual.
I can only imagine the cost of the materials.
Thanks for bringing us along.
Can you imagine what this would cost to build today if you used sustainable teak and brass hardware -Wow!
Brings back great memories

My next project
Good luck. The hardware kit Rockler made is no longer available. The plans aren't for sale.
Thats like 2 grand in teak, right there.
Yep, ipe, or cypress might be a cheaper option
SHADES PLAIDS AND SHOP TOOLS NOTHING BETTER
Where can one get the hardware?
According to the video description, it's no longer available.

@@bymyhandsworked Yes, it's possible to print them "at size", but the real issue is the hardware isn't available anymore.

"Kewwee Too"......oh dear. That's gonna get you banned over there.
