    What is the reason why the yank trucks have such low payloads?

    • @aussiefarmer6012
      @aussiefarmer6012 9 місяців тому +4

      This is the smallest one, if they carry loads they buy a F250 or F350. A 150 is a shopping car in the US.

      @@aussiefarmer6012 I know the 150 is the lowest tier, but if you compare it to a much smaller dual cab, it's still lower

    • @steveallen1340
      @steveallen1340 9 місяців тому +5

      Because they place a greater emphasis on ride quality, these are effectively used as cars in great numbers in the US. They have heavier duty trucks for people who need to carry a load.

      FORD USA unload trucks the yanks did not want to Ford Australia to sell two year old unwanted trucks to Aussies. You can buy a 150 in Aussie with 1 tonne and 4 tonne tow.

      In North America, the highest payload 2024 F150 has the 5L v8 (which isn't going to AUS), but the 3.5TT v6 is rated for up to 2,455lbs (down from 3,315lbs in 2023 with the Heavy Duty Payload Package which was dropped for 2024).
      Australia downgrades the class 2A (1/2 ton) trucks for some reason. I don't know if there are regulations that make it advantageous to be under a certain GVM or GCM in AUS.
      AussieFarmer is correct though. We don't really use the class 2A pickups for towing or hauling all that much. Even my Ram 2500 diesel was weak from a towing perspective. It worked fine with trailers up to about 14,000lbs (I have a 30' enclosed car hauler), but could not handle my 26,000lb GVM gooseneck flatbed. Ordered an F450 a year and a half ago and still waiting for it.

    No Coyote 5.0 V8 single cab option is ridiculous, the single cab V8 with the 4WD system is lighter & more economical than the dual cab V6 bucket & a lot cheaper‼️ The OG Aussie ute was a single cab with V8 option, doesn't make sense🤷⁉️

    • @rich7447
      @rich7447 7 місяців тому

      Ford offers the XLT in a regular cab with the 5L. No idea why they don't plan on importing them to Australia. You rarely see them in the US.

    • @rich7447
      @rich7447 7 місяців тому

      The F150/Ram 1500/Chevy 1500/GMC 1500 are the entry level into full size pickup trucks. People that tow or haul a lot of weight don't bother with this class of truck. Because the GVM/GVWR is 8,500 lbs or less they fall under a different set of EPA regulations here in the US. We can move up to an F250, F350 or F450 for not a lot more money. The highest payload would be the F350 with the max. payload package which gives you 7,640 lbs/approximately 3,500 kg of payload (GVM is 14,000 lbs).

  • @TheMowogman
    @TheMowogman 9 місяців тому +5

    They have missed the mark with the Payload. 350kg of ball weight and 2 portly pensioners and you are over weight. Poor effort Ford

      It's a joke isn't it? i've just read the specsheet to confirm. Can't understand how this hooks up the caravan and takes the teenage kids anywhere. Put the full 135L of fuel in, and you'll barely be able to put 5 adults in it before you hit the GVM. There really doesn't seem to be a way for this to tow even 3500kg pracitally, let alone 4500. [edit] i've read that fords figure includes a full tank of fuel for kerb weight... but still, comically low.

    • @rich7447
      @rich7447 7 місяців тому

      That's an Australia specific thing. Here in North America the F150 is rated at 2,455 lbs of payload. Anyone who is towing of hauling anything significant is not using a 1/2 ton here though. It doesn't cost us very much to move to an F250 or F350.

      @@TheMowogman Vehicle prices have been going crazy for a few years now. I bought a 2011 Ram 2500 crew cab diesel back in 2010 for $42000 on the road. Sold that same truck 14 months ago for $30,000 and its replacement (F450) is $100,000.
      Has anyone asked why the US half tons are rated for less payload in Australia than in the US?

  • @stevethepom
    @stevethepom 8 місяців тому

    $106k plus on roads will probably mean it will cost around $120k or you could go for an F250 like one at a local dealership to me thats going for $186k plus on roads spoke to the dealer out of curiosity and was told after adding on roads and Luxury tax would be looking at a cool $250k + for what I regard as a steaming heap of shit that has no place on Aussie roads !

    • @rich7447
      @rich7447 7 місяців тому

      The Super Duty trucks drive well and tow even better. A quarter of a million seems pretty expensive even given conversion to RHD costs. A top trim Super Duty is just over $100k here in North America.

    • @EleMexican

      So the F trucks dont pay luxury car tax they're commercial not luxury. Also how is it shit? and the roads in this country are fucking dogshit and cities suck and aren't worth going 200km near. the F150 fits perfectly in a parking spot if you know how to drive, it's barely longer than a ranger and does 0-100 in 3.5s
      maybe you're just a cockhead who doesn't like cool cars or trucks?

    yeah, not worth the outlay or the upkeep. not many of us could afford to own a full size vehicle like this, and actually use it.
    These will just be clogging up the school pickup points and shopping center carparks, like the other full size import vehicles (and 300 series/y62's).
    Trying not to sound bitter about it, but i guess i am a little jaded by it all.
