Not sure Y Tesla is not jumping on the LiDAR bandwagon (probably cost). Optics can get coated in mud or snow. I think until we see driverless svc from Tesla in the Vegas tunnels, it remains vapor wear. This though looks practical. Thx for the video.
It's not only cost but systems based on lidar look like crap. Most importantly, lidar is not vision. A lidar base system is never going to be as good as one where the vehicle can actually see moving objects with detail.
They doin't need it. If you can't drive, a vehicle can't drive. This isn't very often. It's safer to pull over if you can't see the road and its conditions.
Everything will be bigger than tesla in 10 years. Tesla, is betting on self driving without lidar. In snow/fog/rain ladar has a huge advantage. Think when driving if you could see through the fog with special glasses, would you use them? Of course you would. The cheapest lidar right now is $200 and the price will continue to go down. All AI models will have lidar integration except for tesla. Why would you not have lidar in your car? It is expensive? It was expensive in 2018 when Tesla decided to remove it, it is not expensive today but they can not pivot again as they have promised self driving to all Teslas on the street currently. So with time they will have the worst self driving AI even if today it is one of the best.
It baffles me that there doesn't seem to be any technological convergence between Tesla's and Waymo's autonomous driving solutions. They both seem to stick religiously to their own approach without any significant changes. So clearly each company thinks the other has made the wrong choices. I can understand that this can happen in very early stages of development, but it's strange to see it continuing having spent billions of dollars each. ¿Is there something I'm missing?
Go find someone who has FSD 13. It will blow your mind when it drives you from A-B without an interventions. My Model 3 does 99% of my drives now in SF.
Waymo chose the right partner, Zeekr is making just awesome EVs taking the best from Geely Group. Really hope they bring it to Europe to :)

I think Xiaomi will be bigger than Tesla in 10 years.

Zeekr is way too expensive. It won't compete with Tesla Model Y or Robotaxi.
What a bunch of crap! Can't stand these "High tech" automobiles. They are complete garbage IMO.

It’s the future of cars. A sad future.
Keep your old cars forever!
Lidar, cannot be trusted. Enter at your own risk.
Waymo is an actual self driving car. Tesla FSD is still unreliable trash.
