I bought an N instead. It was a difficult decision mainly because of the price and knowing the m3p was quicker.
Everyones reasons and needs will differ, but here were my thoughts:
    1. I need space. 3 kids fit in the back of a 3 dual motor, but snug and they are still growing. The headroom quickly diminishes back there.
    2. I hated not having a turn signal stalk. The buttons straight up suck, and i saw many complaints about the button sticking on/off. Also, if you turn the wheel first, you can lose where the buttons are, and it's too late.
    3. The cooling system is more robust and track ready. Even if I never track it, I like the feeling of it being overkill and hourly adds to the longevity of the battery and motors.
    4. The Tesla looks like every other Tesla and especially to non- enthusiasts. I wanted something somewhat unique.
    5. The fake shifting and sounds. Yes, it's a bit hokey on paper, but it's so well executed (the shifts, rev matching, each gear has its own powerband with dips, each gear loses power respectively to the one preceding, engine braking with 1st gear having the most etc).
    6. Inevitably, something will go wrong with either car. Tesla has a limited dealer network, and the repair time are high. Way more Hyundai dealerships out there.

Id be worried about that nest of hoses in the frunk standing the test of time. I agree with all your points though it's just that 20k difference that did it for me. Plus the model 3 has been out a while and they've had time to get things right. Hyundai is not known for its reliability and this ioniq is very new. I hope it does well, it looks so cool and is just a beast!

I've had the US spec 24 M3P for 6 weeks now.
      1. Valid point
      2. After some adjustment, I like them. I ride motorcycles so it's nothing unusual for me really. You just can't rest your fingers on them, or else they stick
      3. 100%. No plans on tracking the Tesla. That is what the s1000rr is for :)
      4. I test drove a 21 M3LR. Didn't like the look or road noise. The refresh looks good to me. I also had it tinted and removed aero caps.
      5. I agree. What a move by Hyundai!
      6. I had an issue with my M3P shortly after I picked it up. A mobile repair guy came to my car at work an fixed it without me having to do a thing.
I am not to knowledgeable about the N, but the software/app control in the M3P is amazing. I have had free FSD since I've had it and it will drive for 3 hours, in any condition, just by pushing 1 button. In spirited driving it feels planted and responsive as well. I came from BMWs and was impressed in the sportiness of the car. RIP sound and manual though of course.

Weight matters. The Hyundai is 800lbs heavier than the Model 3 thats why the Tesla has more range and better drag times.
BTW the Highland Model 3s beat their EPA numbers, in the past it was true that Teslas always underperformed but thats not true for the new Model 3. I'm getting 200Wh/mile over the last 1400 miles and 208Wh/mile over the 3500 miles that I've owned my 2024 M3 AWD. Thats mostly roadtrip miles. And the M3P was in the wrong mode, so it all works out regardless. Those factors won’t change the stock 0-60 factory tested times for either vehicle. And yes, he used the boost mode and even explained how it works at 2:20. The good news is that the I5N still wins on a track course as the M3P doesn’t come with a race suspension and the brakes are only average. Winner? M3P because it’s 15K cheaper than the I5N.

This is better in every measure using it as a regular car on a daily basis plus you’ll smoke anything on those 10-15 seconds you dare to “race” anyone on public roads. It is cheaper, quicker, well built and very solid feel, maintenance free, just tire rotation and go. Oh and the fact that there are millions on the road actually makes your insurance cheap, if you get in an accident there are a million parts everywhere, etc, its just a better option all around.

For all the people knocking on 5N there is no comparison with M3P. M3P is a daily driving sedan with performance. 5N is a track focused car. It is heavier because it is better suspension more rigid frame, better breaks and much better battery management and cooling system. Yea any electric car can go fast in straight line but when you add turns and repeated performance 5N can go lap after lap without fuss, while M3P breaks will catch fire after 1 lap and the battery will over heat, cutting power. 5N can work as a good daily driver but it also has performance and track creditials which M3P cannot match.

If youre gonna compare the froot(so practicalities) then you have to also talk about the boot, all that size and weight is for something.
Some may also prefer to have some degree of physical buttons and turn signals. Or a dash for that matter.
No matter what, if you get the 5N, you get an SUV, while the M3P is a (compact? sedan? Im not good with sized, but smaller), which means less room inside. The practicalities are simply not comparable in that, if you have zero need for room and only drive yourself around, youre not gonna need an SUV, if you’re carrying the whole family with suitcases, I doubt youre gonna prefer the M3P.
If you are talking pure price to performance though, the M3P still have brake and thermal issues on a track, so it’s not race ready ootb, so youre gonna have to do more upgrades to it(if you can fix things like battery thermals at all, I dont know). So the sticker price is misleading.

@@avis1978 So, based on what other people keep erroneously insisting about needing to use NGB with Launch Control when you really can't, I played around this weekend, and now I'm convinced that half the review channels doing launches don't even really have it in Launch Control. It's a two-step process, and just because you've cleared the first half doesn't mean you've successfully engaged it. So it's possible that they really are getting the NGB button to work, but the fact that it does means that Launch Control isn't really active.
When you press the "activate" button, that just makes it ready, not active. A small LC logo appears at the top of the screen. But then once you press the brake to the floor and then the accelerator, a big box pops up telling you it's active and to let off the brake to launch. When that box pops up, NGB does nothing. I figured out that you CAN have Launch Control active, but it still won't engage when you press the brake and the accelerator. That's likely because one of the settings doesn't comply. And if that's the case, it's possible that the NGB button might work -- although I still think that it won't. Like the Launch Control, just because you press the NGB button doesn't necessarily mean that NGB is engaged. It's only active if the countdown timer pops up.
I figured that out because I have two custom N modes, one identical to the standard one but with the sound active, and the other identical to that except that the suspension and the ESC are turned down to normal (I use that for rough roads and freeways). I can successfully press the "activate" button for the Launch Control in either mode and the LC logo pops up, but since the Launch Control requires ESC to be set to Sport or Off, if I'm in my second custom mode, pressing the brake and the accelerator won't activate it. But if I switch to my first custom mode, it works fine.
So I'm willing to bet that half the channels that think that they're using Launch Control really aren't. That would partly account for the discrepancies in the launch times.

What battery version of the model 3 is this? Those times are kind of high for the performance. They usually hit 10.9 or 11’s.

You failed to mention the tax credits on the M3P which makes it a minimum of $20k less than the 5N. In Colorado it was probably $25k cheaper. Take $12k of that and put a set of carbons on the front and it will take the 5N on a road course too. Lastly, I sat in a 5N and although I loved the seats the rest of the interior felt really cheap compared to the new M3P.
