@@janetdevlin best of luck, dates are tricky, as im sure you know. All you can really do is be honest and be upfront with your needs. Haven't had any personal experiences with former drug cartel entropronuers but did have a date mention their owi within the first 10 minutes of the date and proceed to order shots of tequila.

Well not much dating by me, but I did have this one blind date once, back in the time before social media. There was this chat thing on Teletext, where I got in contact with a girl who eventually agreed to meet me.
Turned out the girl was a 50+ yo and I was like 20 or something.... 🥴
So yeah, that was an awkward 1st and last blind date. 😅

It's primarily a dating app, you can use it to meet a prospective partner for anything.
Yeah here it’s still primarily for hook ups I’d say but less so nowadays and it’s just a general dating app. I’ve had several good matches and dated them for a while, my ex was off Tinder aswell. My best friend has just recently got together with someone from Tinder. Bumble is the more serious one here for sure but us English people are too polite for casual hook ups, we go for posh dates for afternoon tea and cake 😉😂😂

I apologize for laughing at your dating disasters but that was hilarious. I noticed a common thread running thru your stories. It seems that you were choosing what you perceived as safe dates. Then you would end up with a (I'm being nice) nut. I found that the right person comes around when you absolutely have no intention of getting into a relationship. It's the last thing you need and there they are. So stop looking for heartache doing self imposed blind dates. That person is out there and you will meet up one day when it's the last thing you ever thought would happen. It'll come, lol

Not sure if this counts but I was given bad intel one night and was told this very nice girl who I had a bit of a crush on at the time was single...no more than a few minutes into a pleasant conversation, her very, very drunk boyfriend comes up to me, says nothing and just starts staring me down for a fight 😂

Most recent date of mine; We were having drinks and a bonfire in her backyard. She ended up stepping on a nail, blood everywhere. It eventually stopped bleeding and we spent the night in. She taught me how to play Rummy and we ordered pizza, good times.

I loved your stories Janet, I didn't think the video was too long at all. Stories need context & the more detail the better for me, that said I am the same!! As far as first dates go, I've had a couple of awkward first dates, largely due to girls using subtle filters that gave a false image of what they truly looked like! It's a shame that people cannot just be themselves instead of a false impression. You're going to have a greater chance of having as successful dating experience & future dates, if you are just you & reduce that awkward surprise factor when you meet for the first time, & they're looking past you as they scan around the meeting place for their date 🤔 I've dipped out of the dating game to concentrate of travelling but sometimes, the right connection happens when you least expect it & not looking for it.... who knows, the world works in mysterious ways ! 😊

Per the dating apps, I think people meet too quickly before screening them electronically...such as asking them questions: What are they ultimately looking for....Have they ever been married..How many times have you been married...How long did your last relationship last...How long ago was your last relationship....Why did your last relationship end....How do you respond when thing go wrong? Even the best of relationships take a lot of work, so if they are not willing to take the work to answer those questions, move on. Using this process, I had a somewhat successful relationship that lasted 5 yrs.
I am so glad I am too intimidated to ask for a date 😂 besides the fact I have already decided to put Janet in the ‘Friend Zone’ but that’s for good reason. Anyway I hope you all are having a happy happy day and the world is treating you the way you deserve 🤗🤗🤗

The woman I want, the woman I can afford, and the woman I tend to attract are three very distinctly different entities. Hence my screen name; celebiz, or Celebate due to work commitments. I figure at this point I don't make enough to attract my forever woman (lol, joke toward "rehoming" the child myka adopted), I make just enough to attract women who just need money, and in this neighborhood, I'm just as likely to catch ... well, you get the point. I've never tried online dating, but as I'm graduating university (getting out into the "real world") I'm thinking of giving it a try - though probably not Tinder, it seems to be more for hookups than the more serious relationship I desire. All I hear are horror stories, which makes me more reluctant to try it - is it really that bad, or do people only tell the tragic comedies?
I've had a couple disastrous dates over the years, all from people I met in school. One in high school I took a girl I'd known for a long time to a play, though she was hooked on what must have been a very interesting book - she spent any time the play wasn't going reading her book. Later on, my freshman year of university, I took a girl from the dorm, one I'd been contemplating the whole semester (we were both very shy, awkward people) to dinner at a restaurant off-campus. She spent the entire time texting, not even trying to hide the fact that it was another guy she apparently was more interested in than me. Not sure, that could be the guy she later ended up marrying, but I ran away as fast as I could. As I'd driven us there, it was very tempting to give her some practice with the local public transit by ditching her there. Another one that comes to mind that was a semi-disaster, a lot of things went wrong, was my first date with a girl I'd been really drawn to in the dining hall. She'd just been released from a week in the hospital after a severe panic attack, and was really drugged up on anxiety meds and anti-depressants. Probably shouldn't have been out of her parents' sight (she was 19 at the time) but apparently they trusted me somehow to keep an eye on her. Meanwhile I'd come down with a really bad cold, but didn't want to cancel a first date, that felt too cowardly. Thus we both felt like absolute crap. Took her to the Denver Botanical Gardens, unaware that it was a free day - it was absolutely packed, not the serenity I was hoping for. So pretty much everything went wrong, but despite such we wound up going on many more, leading to the only real serious relationship I've ever had.

My second date with a other girl, she was Polish and laugh hard and shake her hands in the air.. EVERY TIME when I make a little joke. ...

Back in my wee years I had a MeetMe, which is akin to a Tinder in some ways. I matched with this other girl, and we chatted for a bit and both decided that despite a lack of romantic connection, we were attracted to one another so we'd meet up that night and see where things lead. She wanted me to come to hers because I had a car and she didn't, the caveat being that she lived with her folks like a lot of Americans in their early twenties. Nothing too suspicious there; she said they were sleeping and wouldn't mind anyways.
Fast forward to the meeting. She lets me into the house very casually. Her mother is in her room, sat on her bed. Now bear in mind, because of the nature of our late night plans, I was not dressed to make a wholesome impression. Nevertheless, I arrived at around ten at night and her mother stayed and chatted with me for a solid four hours (my date sat quietly and looked on in relative silence). Her mother then beckoned me into the garage where I had to turn down a cigarette multiple times (I don't smoke) and she told me she was pleased that her daughter had found a nice girl to settle down with, and she was very excited to see me again. I bade her a pleasant goodnight, all the while absolutely *screaming* inside, and decided I would just give my date what I promised her and bid her goodnight as well.
In the middle of things, she goes stone cold silent. I take a breather and ask her if I'm doing alright, to which she replies, "yeah, you're doing amazing. I just remembered my grandma. She died last year."
I don't know what to do, so I get up on to the bed with her and try to comfort her. She seems annoyed at this, and a little more awkwardness later, I excuse myself. She's almost insistent that I can stay so she can return my favor but at this point it's nearly three in the morning and I just want to get back home and into bed. She texted the next day and seemed very sweet and embarrassed by her mother, so I don't wish her any ill, but it was doubtlessly the strangest "date" I've ever been on.

So that American boy may have been raised to not talk about himself, especially on a first date. I've seen that a fair bit over here. Janet darlin... asking about how the one you're on a date with views the world and getting to know things about them... that's kind of the point of dating. What could you possibly expect the other person to do on a date? There has to be a conversation... both people contributing, otherwise it's just an infomercial.

The most perfect date I ever had was meeting a lady in Christchurch. We just spent a couple of hours on bench seat at Sumner Esplanade with a thermos of tea and we just sat and talked with a nice relaxing atmosphere.
That was about ten years ago and we are best friends still but each still single really and in separate cities.
Spent many times together though. Visits at holiday weekends occasionally.

Totally fine that you didn't feel comfortable with his past and 100% fine in turning him down, but your tone in telling us about his past here was down right demeaning. Especially considering he treated you well and was honest. Would you rather guys like him were not honest? Because videos like this (especially that dude if he sees this) would largely incetivize them to lock that shit up on future dates. Why would he be honest and share his past with people if it just turn around and mock him for it later on?

That's really not a first date conversation, I'd have just been like, well thank you for sharing that, I'm scared now and I don't think we should continue ever seeing each other ever again. But as a girl that's just one of those things where you're like OK this person and me don't connect, but how can I be nice about it so I don't get murdered.
@@cheezewheel Totally feel ya, but that is at bare minimum an extremely early in the relationship bit of info. Like I said she is totally fine turning him down for it too. I was mostly commenting on the way she was presenting that info here to her extremely large audience. It was mocking and demeaning a guy who just wanted to be up front with what he rightly assumed would be important context for her. Again I only have the info she presented here to go from, but just from what she presented, the way Janet handled telling us this story is not cool at all. If that dude sees this I would be amazed if he were remotely as honest with his next date. I suppose the lesson here for him is "Don't trust new people with important information about your life. They'll just mockingly share it with the rest of the world "
