- Progressive metal masters NE OBLIVISCARIS are now sharing the official music video for 'Equus,' taken from their new album, 'Exul!' The band comments on the video's powerful message:
"'Equus' is dedicated to the lives lost during the lethal bushfires that scarred Australia in 2019-2020. Alongside the people who died or were affected, many millions if not billions of animals were killed or displaced from their natural habitats, the enormity of this is something that will never be forgotten, and should not be ignored. It is also a warning that the world we live in is changing from the damage we as a species have contributed to. Within this video, the dancer represents a scorched Mother Earth, from horror to humanity, ever in tune with the heart and flow of the song (and world), and ultimately aware of the inevitable and ever growing destructive cycle we are in."

The bass player for neo is it. It's like the head of the battering ram. Ive always believed that bass guitar is underrated and under used in most band. Neo seems to be one of the few that gets it.
You should listen to "Devour me Collosus part 2". The bass in that song is stellar.

@actualminotaur there's alot of extreme metal bands with amazing bassists, it just seems like they are ignored and not given spotlight in mainstream bands. The great thing about neo is that you've always been able to hear the bass guitar really clearly in the mix

I listen to a lot of metal, but very little Death metal (Extreme metal) or Progressive metal. I connect entirely on how a song or band makes me feel. I can say with all honesty that this song is "perfect". Take two genres I don't usually vibe with and somehow still make a song so epic and so perfect that I can't not feel something everytime I listen. I'm not ashamed to admit as a grow man that I have shed many tears listening to this masterpiece. I've been listening to metal for over 40 years and I would put this song in my top 10 in a heartbeat. The rawness and rage of the Death metal vocals, the melancholy beauty of the violins, the pure beauty of the clean vocals. Every aspect of the guitars fits perfectly in the song from the rhythm to the amazing solo. The bass fits in with the guitar and drums perfectly and is masterfully played. The drums are the first thing that grabbed my attention in the song and accompany the other instruments and vocals flawlessly. The musicianship is incredible and every instrument and vocal part is interwoven to make this song a masterpiece.

Forget Not was the first NeO song I ever heard. It became my most favourite song of all time because of how it got all emotions out of me over the song. I never thought any song could come close to that in terms bringing out those emotions... but these bastards did it again. The last half of this song makes me want to burst into tears, in a good way. The emotions I feel... I honestly can't describe them. It is as though something inside me explodes with light and I bathe in its glory. The light is so bright that I am blinded by it and yet... I see everything.
I could have been born (or not at all) at any given moment in history but the fact that I was born in a time coinciding with NeO makes me feel like I am the luckiest person alive.

First it was Cygnus (old bassist) who was booted years ago, which at the time was already a huge loss because he has such a unique style and his contributions to the songwriting in the first albums were insanely good. I would say the same about Dan.... will be interesting to see who they find to replace him.
@@motopolak The difference with Dan compared to Cygnus is that Dan chose to leave and is still on good terms with all of Ne O. Cygnus got kicked out because of the domestic violence allegations..

Yes, cult classic, every song with meaning. What I feel is personal loss, in Tim's voice. Essence drawing from so many roots. There is something here speaking of old age and abandonment. I am halfway through the video and I cannot get enough of it

I am unbelievably pissed that UA-cam had the gall to interrupt this work of art with an abrupt ad. That aside, listening to this was an absolute joy. A gorgeous and captivating song, from the very start to the very last second. The only complaint I have is that I wish the heavier portions of the instrumental were just slightly louder/punchier, everything else, every single other aspect, basically perfect. Got straight up chills during the ending. Fucking awesome. Best part of the song for sure, and finishing strong is always a good way to elevate a song to another level, and provide a really complete experience. Started strong, finished ten times stronger. Nailed that execution. Y'all are off to a fantastic start if this song is any indication of what else we're in store for on Exul, or even if it's different but of the same quality. Paying attention to all the different faces in this video and all the names and roles in the credits, it really is a statement on the ambition on display here. Few to no other bands are doing things at this level in terms of collaborative reach and orchestral grandeur that I can see, in terms of modern band formats and Metal. Awesome to see.

Since my mother's death, I've struggled to cry or feel anything. Her death broke me as a person; shamefully, it hardened me. And when I listened to this song towards the end, my eyes started to tear up. It's the closest I've got to crying in almost ten years. I was blown away by this song. I found myself getting lost in this. I can't tell you how shocked I was this song made me feel like this. I experienced a wave of emotions, goosebumps, I could feel the pain and sorrow, the emotion. This is a work of art.
This single most definitely has soul to it. You can feel and hear the emotions in Tim’s voice. This song feel so personal and meaningful. Definitely brought tears to my eyes. What a masterpiece.

After listening to every single Ne Obliviscaris album multiple times I had extremely high expectations, and this song somehow managed to surpass EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM. NeO showing once again why they are my favourite metal band, combining incredible messages with some of the best progressive metal out there 💖

What on earth? I've never heard anything like this in my life. This band is incredible!
I'm fortunate I was never affected by the Australian bushfires. Though I did see a lot of smoke, like heavy fog, during the 2019-2020 bushfires. Couldn't stay outside for long because the air was toxic. And I also remember living more up in the bush area around 2006, and one time I remember my family and I drove around town and the whole sky was dark with smoke. It looked like it was night even though it was day. That was really scary and something that remained in my memory.

Nothing short of a masterpiece. There is a lot going on but every instrument and voice is perfectly balanced.
Dont think I have seen and heard such emotion in any song. The pain, regret, sadness and loss over what should never have happened. You feel and visualize it all, the people, the animals screaming and grieving for their loved ones as they are then taken. This builds in feelings until you feel they cant be contained, while at the same time the intensity of what happened drains you emotionally. Everything is changing, people building only on the ruination, control, and the ending of what we were charged with at the beginning of time; The gaurdianship of planet earth, known then as paradise! This band plays it all in my heart and mind. Ne Obliviscaris! Thank You.

I remember since I was a child, my dream was to live in Australia. I don't know why but I craved it, every movie, music, newspaper article, anything about Australia got me excited. Maybe subconsciously I belong to Australia and I am a part of it. Maybe one day my dream will come true and I will be able to live there for a while.
I was happy to see them live on tour with ihsahn in 2018 in Poland, great performance.
Great video, you can hear the progress of both singers, Tim's vibrato is getting better and better, great neoclassical guitar solo, the whole song is a masterpiece and of course, the song itself is about very important thing. I'm glad that such a great band sang about it.
