I lived in the Portland metro for 4 years, so I know that she plays by her own rules, and she envies no one. I even remember seeing a license plate there that said INVNO1! One reason the food and beer scene is so good, is because Portlanders are not easily impressed, and they're also demanding foodies.

The Tap water here (in Portland) is seriously much better than most if not all big cities.

I salute you!! I Love this!!! Portland pedestrian infrastructure is amazing as well as air quality!! Texas brags about cheapest gas in our nation but fails to mention the super long boring drives everywhere and all the toll roads!! LOL.. Yeah, the BBQ is amazing in North Texas and most of Texas and perhaps cheap cost of living but if you like the ocean life and good air quality and art and culture and diversity as well if you have a liberal mindset Texas is probably not for you.. but this is my opinion living here almost 5 years now!

When houses start at 200k in houston its hard to not atleast look at the city.
We definitely are split with politics but I can say our diversity is insane. China town is an absolutely different world, the official road signs are in chinese first then english. Sa is mexican texas, austin is hippie texas, dallas is blue collar texas.
We just got great food, cheap living, kind people. Its hard to beat. We got multiple ocean cities (galveston and port a) for weekend trips and tons of camping grounds. For the price the quality of living is imo way better than any other major city.

@@micah371997 For sure.. I have visited Houston many times and I like Houston don't get me wrong aside from all the mosquitoes during the summer but the big trees and close to the ocean is cool and like you said diversity is better there in Houston although it's still Texas... LOL.. so it's like being inside a big container for me that's being run by the same political folks. Speaking of Asians I'm half Chinese Jamaican and half Italian and Polish. That said, after we had a mass shooting in Allen Texas targeting Asians called the "Allen Mall Shooting" it wasn't even one full year that has past and I'm driving along my normal 1 hour drive to take my daughter to her private school and I see a big bold bill boards neon sign on the highway showing "Allen Texas Gun Show this weekend!!" You follow me..

Palm trees aren’t even native to LA lol! California maples and oak trees are native. You couldn’t pay me to live in LA or anywhere in Texas. I live on the coast in Dana Point 70 miles south of LA. Expensive but worth it. One day I’d love to get a vacation home in Oregon it is beautiful.

Obviously, palm trees aren't native to Oregon, but you actually do see a few on the coast, and in the Willamette Valley. I've actually gone on the Portland Palm Tree Bicycle Run in the dead of winter, and I was surprised to see a few. There are small ones at Union Station, Chinatown, Waterfront Park, Providence Park, and we had a couple of them at our apartment on East Burnside.

As a native-Oregonian, who lived in Portland, for over a decade, even I disagree with you 😂
Portland can be great - but it sure as heck ain’t right now

Thanks for sharing your perspective! I agree that Portland has a lot of room for improvement, but I still think it's a great place to live. Totally fine if you disagree with that. Thanks for watching!
