  • I'm often looking for tractors on Craigslist, and often finding silly scams. They're pretty obvious, and kind of funny. Enjoy a chuckle.

I got to tell you, this video was much needed. I have been searching hard for a good deal on a tractor. And these "scam ads" are every corner of the US on Craigslist. However, not solely in tractor ads. When ever I look to buy anything on Craigslist, I find these scammer ads. And yes, someone mentioned in comments that the scammers are getting better on there pricing. Grrrrrr, I can't stand someone trying so hard to rip people off. My girlfriend is now excitedly searching for a tractor. And while she's searching, I continually get asked to look at the "GREAT DEAL" she just found. And absolutely how "wrong I am" is brought up, as she just doesn't believe its a scam.....Blahhhhh!!!! Thanks for clarifying to her. And to everyone who complains how fast your video is. I just woke up from a nice Monday nap. I still figured out how to stop /tart the video to read the headings. Everyone just needs to take a chill pill.

I remember that we came accross a Dallas TX ad for a Mahindra 5500 w/ loader (with one low quality picture), for 11k, the story was that the guy (who's name I think was Eric), had bought the tractor for a 2 acre land plot, because you can never have too much tractor, and found out that having a 3 ton tractor makes no sense for mowing 2 acres of grass, so he put it up. The listing had been up for a year and no one had even really looked at it, well one weekend me and my dad fly to Dallas to look at the tractor AND IT WAS REAL, the paint was really good considering it was a 10 year old tractor at this point, and it had 116 hours on it, well now its our Stumpy and it lives in SC with our other 5500, Buddy. Btw, if anyone is looking for a good solid used tractor, look at a Mahindra 5500, its a 55 engine hp tractor, cast iron frame, and it weights 2.5 TONS WITHOUT any extra weight. they are amazing tractors, and they sound great, not to mention compared to other similar tractors from the time, they are cheap.

I see this a lot. Mostly is scammers and people that don’t speak English. I contacted a guy with a 1940 Ford 2N for $600. Needed some work but ran and drove he said. He said he’d hold it for me on September 16th so I can get it September 24 at 10:30 Am. I rented a trailer for $100, had $600 on me and filled my trucks tank $60. I drove 2 hrs and when I got there he said it had sold the week before because “I didn’t show up “. We agreed on a day and time but he sold it out from under me. I was so mad. Even with a huge trailer on my truck I peeled out of his gravel driveway tearing it up.

Maybe he thought you were a scammer, first guy on the yard with cash takes it round here unless you are 3 hours away and on the way now. Maybe you could of saved yourself a loss of money and time calling the guy you know to "just make sure" he still had it and the deal was good. Yes there are idiots around to I've found them trying to sell and buy. But usually figure them out before it costs me money leaving the yard.
With selling if I'd a had $1000 for every dick that waists my time, tire kicking or calling me, I wouldn't need to sell anything I'd be rich already, by them basically paying me an entry fee lol. The favorite is guys wanting to trade crap they value more than the newer better machines you are selling and think you are going to pay them the difference of a couple thousand.. or they pull the it makes half that price at auction stunt. I know what junk makes half the price at auction, the good ones make the $10.000 I want for a field ready machine with nothing wrong or needs doing to use it. If they want them go buy it, don't bid me 5000 for mine, and not expect a counter suggestion L.O.L I haven't sold for a few years now, but my buddy has said it's not got any better with these clowns.

Did he by chance have another tractor he was willing to sell you, since the original one was no longer available?

Just a suggestion but the text isn't on long enough to read and also read the Craigslist ad and observe the pics all at the same time.

You are aware of course the first give away that it is a scam is not only the wordage but the odd ball price. Always will have a gmail contact email.

I dont see much in the way of scams. 2:22 in nz you tractor does have to be registered if it is on the road at all. Also if the tractor does 50 km per hour or more it also needs a warrent of fitness.

Can you tell us more of farm life in NZ? Who is in charge of this Warrant of fitness? Do they put on the dyno? I have subscribed to your channel. Please put on a video of this.
