I listened to this song at midnight on the edge of a creek with just the full moon and the crickets for company. It blew my mind. Thank you Mr Weller!

Doing what is real to him not what people want him to do is what makes Paul Wellers music so good and made him the legend he is. Wouldn't want it any other way.

I remember my school pal, gave me an album to take to listen to...All mod cons. I was 14. I must've listened to all the jam albums...1,000s of times. He is so amazing...great voice. Genius....

I have always felt we are largely the product of the lives that touch ours … as a fifteen year old lad, I first heard a band called The Jam … since then, one of the constants in my life has been the various manifestations of Paul Weller’s music … I don’t know the geezer, but I am profoundly grateful for his life catching mine … I took possession of his new album today, True Meanings … and the beat goes on!

Same here. Agree. His music has had a very important place in my musical life for 35 years or so. A real musician- for whom writing recording & most importantlly- playing music live in front of people is a way of life.

Have to agree with Richard Auger here. Everytime I get a new Weller album and peruse the Lyrics they seem to fit what I am going through at the time or how I am feeling. This is more true as I get older. I suppose there are issues common to us all but it is good to have a soundtrack to your life. On this album he refers to losing his dad; I lost my old man last March and what he says in his songs is putting it in some kind of perspective for me. Cheers mate

From what I’ve heard of the three tracks from true meanings this could well be his best solo album to date. And that’s saying something. Respect to a true British legend .

Lynne, saw him twice in Brussels. I'm 54 now, have known him since The Jam and especially during his period with The Style Council in the eightees, that magic period (when I was still a youngster). Fantastic songwriter, perfect compositions. Has lots of grit and character, always does his own thing, and how!

What makes him even a notch above the others he can go back and revisit sounds seamlessly. One of the greatest.

"The Soul Searchers", track 1 from "True Meanings", the fourteenth studio album by English singer-songwriter Paul Weller, released on 14 September 2018. ua-cam.com/video/Bfg-VWlopq8/v-deo.html
Here's one for the searching soul in the moonight
    It's alright
Head down with a furrowed brow in the deep night
    Hey it's alright
    Every night
    Every day
    I'm trying to find
    The words to say
But I wouldn't want it any other way
    Hey hey
Sleep tight, let tomorrow bring you a new day
    It's okay
Head down, let the current take you the long way
    It's okay
    Every night
    Every day
    It's all for sale
But it's too late to pay
Still I wouldn't want it any other way
    Hey hey
So here's one for the searching soul in the moonight
    It's alright
Dream on dedicated and do what you feel like
    Hey, it's alright
    It's alright
    Every night
    Every day
    I'm a searching soul
    For searching's sake
And I wouldn't want it any other way
    Hey hey
    It's alright
    It's alright
    It's alright
    It's alright
(I wouldn't have it any other way)
(I wouldn't have it any other way)
    It's alright
    A searching soul
(I wouldn't have it any other way)
(I wouldn't have it any other way)
    It's alright
    It's alright
    It's okay
(I wouldn't have it any other way)
    A searching soul
(I wouldn't have it any other way)
It's okay (I wouldn't have it any other way)
    A searching soul
(I wouldn't have it any other way)
(I wouldn't have it any other way)
    A searching soul
Glad to know you are still searching after all these years; I look forward to seeing you live one day again (when you make it back in Tokyo) once this present COVID-19 mess has been sorted. Your music has given me pleasure since the 70s. Eternally grateful. Stay safe,

You say I am old ugly a goldigger. Cheap perfume. Second rate fashion. You asked how can you win my love. You did and I sang the most beautiful words of love to you. But you promised me you would come for me. I spring. I was so happy loving u. But you have sang spiteful song that have stabbed me through the heart I believe once you-won my love you got scared that you had me and were as you said coming to set me free with your love. The butterfly collected crucified my heart. You also after this cruelty put an image of you and with you young enough to be your granddaughter. So I know you just saw me as a fantasy but didn’t love me. I am ugly old and a fake. What breaks my heart is the cruelty of your words. I am unloving, I am cold a game seeker. You’re songs before you did this I loved. They are nothing now. You broke my heart my trust. And the thought of you kills me and I can never I feel your uncalled for spite. I did nothing to provoke this. I know you never meant a word cause as soon as I loved you you cut me to peace’s. I know we are broken.

Not trolling,Just pissed off with the Weller fans justifying the madness of spitting the greatest band that's ever lived at 24?? They may not have been than The Beatles but they were certainly better than The Beatles!! Fire and skill

Amazing track. If ONLY he could still sing with his English accent. I don't think he can do it anymore. The US voweled Weller soul voice seems immovable now. It's great on occasion but when he does his old '78-'82 Jam songs nowadays - songs with absolutely no accent other than his own Thames voweled Surrey/London accent on the original recordings - he really struggles. On this intimate acoustic based album, the US accent seems dishonest in some way. There's artifice attached when there should be absolutely none. Imagining these songs with his real accent... it could have been even more brilliant.

I feel bad to say I think True Meanings is the weakest LP in the past 10 years. It's nice and I like the songs and his voice is so good, but I don't think they're great. Wake Up the Nation is fill of absolute classics like Trees, No Tears, 7 & 3, Aim High, and I"ve loved the last 6 or so. His recent stuff is so good, I just want to here the new stuff live. Anyway, I'm glad he can't stop making great records. I look forward to the next one, which I hope won't be long. Respect
