Episode one introduces incendiary Merseyside 3-piece The Mysterines who have been making waves on the live circuit and recently supported the next featured guest - Black Barn regular Miles Kane and Paul digs deep into his back catalogue to perform “Brushed” from the LP “Heavy Soul”.

Fair play to Paul weller for not doing a greatest hits circuit, for pushing new music and new directions not just with his own music but also using his platforms to bring exposure to newer acts.
The wholehearted love of music and all things connected shines through, nice one.

Why do you expect him to be preserved in a pic just like he was in The Jam or the Council? He has grown older and moved on. He could have become a caricature like that wanker Ozzy Osborne still trying to be the prince of fucking darkness! Spinal Tap made real
I grant you that his solo stuff can be patchy but he’s trying to different things and his last album was a masterpiece. Doing what he does best, introspective, poetic English romanticism.
People like your good self always have to knock and put down to bolster your own inadequacy.
Why don't you go and write music and show us all how it should be done or did you die in 1982 also?

Nice to see Brushed resurrected, sounding fresher than ever. I remember the Heavy Soul tour and this was played during the encore at Crawley Leisure Centre, and what a show that was too!
I think Heavy Soul often gets overlooked, but it is a great album and Brushed is a great tune
