  • The Mission District of San Francisco is where it all began in 1776… even though it wasn’t know as the Mission District back then. As the Spanish Missionaries set up churches and communities around them this became one of the central points of San Francisco’s history. Today Mission Dolores is the oldest building in San Francisco and is close to the park that’s most likely to be filled on a bright sunny day in summer.
Enjoy a walk through San Francisco’s Mission District as I stroll around a small portion and share some of the Main Streets you’ll be looking to visit when heading here.

First visited in mid-1950s. Remember Coit Tower, Far East Cafe, à huge public swimming pool, and more. Our nice home in St. Helena cost my parents $20,000. The average new house was closer to $12,000. No tuition at UC or the state colleges. Only a fee of about $125 per semester.

Wow!! In St. Helena, that's such a beautiful place. I hope you enjoyed making memories with your parents there over the years. I wish education could get back to that type of affordability, it's certainly getting to an unattainable level.

Yes, The mission is always changing. My grandma grew up on 23rd and it's very different from how she used to describe it. She also lived until 97 years old too!
