The NPC who upgrades your spirit summon is called Lady Roderika.
She can be found hiding in plain sight in the Roundtable Hold next to the fireplace in the main room, if she's not there she's in stormhill shack (speak to her and she teleports to the Roundtable Hold). She will not upgrade your spirit summon until you convince the blacksmith to train her.
Interact then talk with Roderika and then the Blacksmith, and repeat the process until the blacksmith is convinced. Then re-enter the area and she'll be ready.

Very easy to follow, Radahn was easy to kill so of course Royal Knight Loretta posed no problem at all, allowing me to get my MIMIC to +10 super quickly
What kind of Radahn did you fight?

Wow, thank you! I never realised I'd be able to get a maxed out version of pretty much the best spirit so early in the game, I feel like it's going to help me hugely in the future. Great guide!

@dannycrocker-uz9qf Massively, it completely carried me through my first playthrough lol. However, if you want to really enjoy the game and appreciate the bosses I would strongly recommend NOT using mimic as it allows you to steamroll most of the game's bosses (in my experience) and even when a fight is still a challenge you don't learn and enjoy the moveset to the same extent.

Great and straight to the point guide, only little flaw is that the phasing of going from point a to b was a little sped up to much and had to pause and go back a few times to not get confused. Over all amazing guide and keep up the work man 💪

I’m at level 193 with +10 Rivers of blood and +10 mimic tear and it is broken. No boss fight feels like a boss fight anymore!! Ended malenia in about a minute or less!! It’s crazy!!! I just let mimic tear fight some bosses by itself while I just watch!

Awesome guide, even a year later!
Pro tip: Equip Shabriri's Woe (draws enemy aggro) before summoning mimic. After the summon, equip something else instead. Your mimic (which has the talisman on) will draw all the aggro, freeing you up to be an absolute menace. Cheers!
Don't listen to the haters. Yes the guide was fast in speed. But people can just mute the audio and put it on 0.5x speed. Works like a charm!
Guide is great. I'll just offer one advice, there's alot more items of that in those 2 areas, so we can actually get enough for additional summon too. But yeah thanks!

Thanks for the guide! It's actually an easy path to follow, virtually no combat, however it would take so much time to realize where these items were without guidance, the game really doesn't tell you anything about locations.

Holy crap. I had this summon for a long time. Never even gave it a second thought.
I upgraded it and used it, to see what it does. It is really a second you in battle. All the power and magic included.
I took it for a spin where a lot of enemies were. He just killed anyone instantly.
It does cost a hefty HP points to summon instead of FP points.

I didn’t know about this tear until I reached malenia. I used it on her and realized I had been torturing myself with these bosses lol. This makes bosses so easy

If you destroy the giant ball in the room with mimic tear summons chest, you get a larva tear.
