Even have read a study that mushrooms shorten lifespan. Maybe it because white buttons etc suck oul and fat out of the bakingpan like sponge. I don't really know why but i wat mess mushrooms because of this study.uaed to wat a lot because taste and the ergotheine story
I used Lion's Mane for a while, in an effort to boots my testosterone. I experienced weird dreams that disturbed my sleep. However, I do consume a lot of white button mushrooms with no adverse side affects.
Watch the documentary “average Joe on the raw” it’s about a guy that had hypogonadism levels of testosterone and berating a whole food plant based diet his testosterone went to normal levels.
I don't get how we can write off vitamin and mineral supplements such as vitamin A, because they are supplements and not the real thing (thus we should consume vitamin a in whole form; but then we believe that lion's mane mushroom doesn't work even though the studies are using a likely old dried powder form of the mushroom instead of the whole form.
Not all vitamins and supplements are the same, some are fine taken in supplementation while others have added dangers of contamination or overabsorbsion. Many vitamins also are part of a huge family of phytonutrients whose magic cannot be traced down to a single element but need to be taken in their original whole food form. To summarise, some vitamins are legit and safe, others are misleading and useless and at worst dangerous.
@@jttj742 A lot of things change when drying. Certain vitamins and bacteria go up and others go down. If ergothianine is the reason for mushrooms being good, or one of the reasons, I wonder how much of it would oxidize during the drying process. Must also inquire whether the drying process involved going above 118 degrees which would cook out certain enzymes and whatnot.
This stuff, grows all over my backyard. Its funky here, in the land of Oz... A moist 0m3 preparation to be absorbable. And having a citronic PH helps greatly. All your studies, were in powder form. - your welcome
I wish Dr. Greger would do a video talking about functional medicine, I would also be interested in his take on the Ninja Creami, I have been making a lot of wfpb ice creams and am curious if the blending down of the healthy ingredients changes the nutritional value at all. Hi, do you know substances that can heal my brain from heavy drug use? I am very afraid that I will get dementia and I already have really strange symptoms like I can not speak anymore that well, and I got Restlesslegs syndrome. I took a LOT of dextromethorphan every single day because of my depression i am very addicted to dextromethorphan, and i am also heavily addicted to kratom! 😪 And the doc already told me that my brain looks older than it should for my age. It's called "White Matter Lesions" What is that? What can I do? I am still heavily addicted to Dextromethorphan, and I am very worried that it will give me dementia! Of course, i needs to stop and also with the kratom because kratom is the reason for my depression! 😪
Hey, some advice on the restless leg syndrome though.....as it may not be being caused by what you think. I had that too, but eventually I was found to have very LOW iron and a very low hemoglobin count......I was put on iron supplements to boost my very low iron stores and the restless leg syndrome went away immediately.........perhaps this drug suppresses iron absorption?
Hi, do you want to learn more about God's word the Bible? 🙂 I have studied God's word the Bible for many years. If someone here has any questions about it please feel free to write to me! 🙂👍♥️📖
Aside from a placebo effect, I felt I had a great memory boost from using Lion Mane's powder about 2 hours before bedtime. I also took a cognizin tablet at the same time. I am very happy with the outcome. I'm an actual believer.
It's pretty common knowledge that mushrooms need heat to break up the chitin, in order to free up the nutrients and medicinal components. If mushrooms are being eaten, they should be cooked. If they're being used medicinally, they should be hot water extracts of the fruiting body. These studies seem to not mention whether they're using plain old dried powdered mushrooms, or dried mushroom extracts. I wouldn't expect any kind of results if it's the former. This is why it cracks me up when I see expensive mushroom supplements that list powdered mushrooms, instead of extracts. I don't see how they could have any benefits.
@britpopification Okay, there's always the chance that I was led astray into believing something that's not true. I'm not in any shape to do more research right now, so that will have to wait until tomorrow.
The problem with the studies is that they only study the effects of one thing. That probably is their point but why not study a combination of multiple things that have worked anecdotally for problems such as Dementia and then see the effects? That's more representative of a balanced healing meal than a supplement right?
I heard it would help against depression bcaue it would inhibit BDNF. But allegedly only a specific part of the shroom would do that. What about that? An answer would be nice.
These findings would depend heavily on the quality of said supplements. For instance, most mushroom powders on the market contain the just mycelium of the mushroom, and not the more expensive fruiting body of the fungus. Did these studies use the most pricey part of the mushrooms that contains the most active components? You need to learn to look more deeply into the way these studies are actually conducted and think critically about context, not just swallow whatever final numbers they spit out unquestioningly.
Look up Russell Barkley PhD. The man is to neuroscience, what Yoda is to the Jedi. He says pretty much the same thing. Supplements, according to Barkley, are almost as effective as placebos. 🌹

I'm guessing the scientists have already figured out this quite basic point, before it then got peer reviewed

Superfoods have their limitations.
1 gram of dried lions maine mushroom is only about 9 grams fresh weight.
No you are mistaken. 95 % water so, 1g is arounf 100g
Ok 94 g lol
1 gm per day: That's about 1/2 tsp. Why such a tiny dose? Try 6 gm per day, see what happens.
"People don't take enough mushrooms!" (Terrence McKenna). 1 gramm - it is microdosing, which effect did they expect?
Mushrooms are around 95% water so no. Not microdosing
