Depositions can be scary for clients. In auto racing, they say that the race can't be won on the first turn, but it can be lost. The depositions can't win the case, but they can lose them. This is a great video to help people understand how the process works.
Great analogy, Jeff. A good deposition performance signals to the other side that the client can and will do a good job in front of the jury. An impressive depo performance by a client increases the value of the case by sending the message to the opponent that the client is prepared and will likely impress the jury.
I have a depo coming up soon. Your video was the most helpful yet! I took notes like I was back in college. I appreciated your patience in delivery of all the takeaways, as well as giving examples of ways to answer. Thank you so much.
Thank you for your advice. At my Depo the Attorney on the other side was rushing me to answer. I remember you saying to take my time. I still got a little emotional and will try to think of your words.
I am dreading mine because I loath having to give my past ten years addresses, surgeries I had, employment history, my education…I need to relax….out with the bad air, in with the good…LOL! 😆 it will be alright…your video has relaxed me. Thank you so much.
Thank you for the comment. Lawyer-speak is a very common sticking point among our clients because, in the court of law, words are the most crucial of resources. Have a blessed day.
I agree, Lawyer talk was the most compelling segment, for it helped explain why and how to Only answer the question! This video, hands down, helped me with my deposition. Thank you!
Good morning Minnesota ") I made a statement to the police that I believed the driver of my car was going 55mph. I didnt explain how i assumed that. In my deposition they'll address that. How do I answer? That I gave a simplified answer at first? I know he was going about the same speed he always does, which is right around 55, habitually. Thank you kindly
What do you say if asked if you have ever had any falls? Everyone has fallen during their lives. You can't remember every time. Then they accuse you of trying to hide something. How do you answer?
Just tell the truth. The whole truth. If you don't remember every single detail, then just say that you don't remember. People understand how memories work. Don't over think your answers. Keep them short and sweet. Let the lawyers worry about the small details of your testimony. They will make sure you're protected. Bottom line is tell the truth. Your lawyer can't save you from a lie.
I've watched a lot of depo prep videos. This is the best I've seen on youtube. Great stuff. Well done SSLT.
The best deposition preparation video I’ve seen yet! He’s comical also.
Absolutely the most informative video on depositions out there and I've watched a lot. Clear, and concise. Wish he made more videos
You are great at explaining and preparing anyone for something that non of us is prepared for even when we think we are …
