Love your videos. I've been watching for over 5 years now. Just amazing stuff. I have been fishing the outside edge of grass flats for the past three or four years. It is amazing. Even with water temps in the mid-80's we can get 15-20 fish in a day. All of them are over 2 lbs. Not bad for Maryland. One other technique that works is a drop shot. Right along the outside edge of the grass. Sometimes you have to dead stick it but having a 6 inch roboworm sitting a foot or two off the bottom just makes them come unglued.

This helps to understand the reference in finding things that "look different" are really ambush points for bass. I think that concept makes bait/lure placement and retrieve more intuitive.

Another great one in the "heavy weightless" category is the Duo Realis Wriggle Stick. Has an awesome shimmy on the fall and when popped. You can wacky rig it too. I've even worked it like a fluke and had success. Very versatile and is a great jig alternative for mucky bottom areas.

This is so valuable for when the temps are high and the fish move out of the banks. Boats been in the shop for a minute and the bank is almost impossible in big water this time of year here in Iowa unless the conditions are perfect. Will definitely be using this when the boat is back

Thx for sharing, you take it from finding the fish to what kind of bait to use for every condition and how to fish the baits, is something wrong with you, lol, you you help us so much. I appreciate what you do and how you teach, easy to understand, Fishin for dummies. Lol, I bet the other pros don’t like you telling us these secrets. Maybe they’ll start teaching us completely. Not to just sell there baits. I’m 68 years old and love bass fishing and you teach me so much, maybe I’ve forgotten most of what I’ve learned. Lol thanks again! 😊

Lots of grass this year and big bass in those areas because of it. At dawn they're feeding on fry and breaking the surface to do so. Then they stop after 45 minutes when the sun gets higher, and that's it for the rest of the day. Nothing but picking the grass off your line. Chatter baits are working great for me. I start the retrieve as soon as it hits the water. buzz baits. hover riged flukes, glide baits. etc double decker sluggos on owner monster hooks

Is it best to position your boat on the grass line and cast and retrieve parallel to the line, or to position your boat shallow and cast out past the line and then bring your lure back uphill into the line in a more perpendicular fashion? I hope that makes sense. Thanks! Keep up the great content!

I love your channel and I learned a lot from you guys but I wish that you would do a little bit more on lakes that have no submerged grass or Tennessee River Chain Lake like ledges, like Table Rock Lake where I live. I'm normally able to transfer what I learned to this Lake, for example: whatever you say to do on Ledges, I just do on Main Lake/secondary points, humps and drop offs from flats if they are steep enough, but when it comes to submerged grass, I don't know how to translate to this lake. It just seems everyone talks about grass and vegetation, but there is none here..

I love the action on that Yamatanuki but the durability is terrible. I have several of them where my hook ripped through the nose of the bait before I even caught a bass. They ripped just from making long casts and in my opinion that’s unacceptable. I even tried a weightless screwlock hook but the results weren’t much better. I guess I’ll stick to the cover scat for now but they’re so expensive and hard to find the good colors. Great video, Matt!

Can I ask an off topic question. You guys constantly talk about buying all types of brands in rods, reels, etc... because you owe your viewers your honest opinions. I've been watching your videos since Matt was teaching people how to modify jigs sitting on his couch, in what appeared to be his apartment. Needless to say I'm a huge fan of your channel!
I said all of that to say, I've never even heard either of you guys mention the word "Lew's". It's no secret you guys run Shimano reels, almost exclusively and use Shimano, Loomis and Megabass rods. Do you guys feel that Lew's equipment is so subpar that you won't even mention the word on your channel, much less feature their products from time to time?
I've watched probly 95% of every one of your videos for at least the last 10-12 years. I'm not saying that you haven't featured Lew's equip in the past and i just missed that video at all. I've just always wondered what problem you guys have with Lew's!
Full disclosure: This is a guy asking that owns over 30 high end Lew's casting reels mounted on high end Dobyns Rods.
    Thanks for your time!
    Dave

    • @tacticalbassin
      @tacticalbassin  Рік тому

Hey Dave! Great question and you've definitely been with us a long time! Years ago Tim and I both bought heavily into them. We had a lot of issues. I got so tired of it I repaired and sold them all. We've dabbled here and there but rarely locked in to something that really stood out.
That said, they've still been in a few videos, as recently as March, and over the Winter I bought a bunch of new ones just to run through the line and see what has changed.
We try hard to be fair at our own expense but it takes something substantial to really grab our attention and hold it.

@@tacticalbassin Thanks for the quick response Matt! You guys are both without a doubt class acts!! I, along with thousands of people, value your opinion on things like fishing products. We all know that nothing about the sport of fishing is cheap. I've not experienced the same problems with my Lew's reels however, I don't fish nearly as much as both of you guys. I do own a few Shimano reels too. They are all fantastic reels. I realize there's the Curado series but I do wish Shimano offered more options in the $200-$275 range. It seems like most of their series reels go from +/- $150 straight to +/- $300. Say what you will about Lew's, they do offer reels in about everyone's price point.
I have no experience with Lew's rods. I get pro staff pricing with Dobyns (because of Gary's generosity and kindness) so I'm a lifelong Dobyns guy forever. I will admit that, only because of you guys, you might just find some Exprides mixed in with all those Champion Extremes in my rod locker....haha
      Thx again!

Anyone struggling on Pa. lakes? The fish management here is bad. Not talking about the Susquehanna river.

I don't get it. I don't have any more questions.
(Change) if I Perfected these techniques, I'd be like a god Okay, okay, maybe just a better angler.
    Thanks a bunch, Bud.
