It's actually stated in the original novel that because of there no air in space, all spacecraft of every kind have at least a stereo that mimic and create sound, the stereo would scan space vibration and thermal scan. The downfall of this tech is that it heavily interferes with radio transmission, making it difficult for pilot and crew members to tell what's sound is actually being heard.

They released a box set of Mobile Suit Gundam I, II, III a few years back with a new remixed soundtrack with all the wrong sound effects. It was awful. Was able to find a Japanese remaster set with original soundtrack and effects. Much better!
Most likely intentional --- Zeon views gundam as "The White Devil" and the story perspective is on the zeon side. Regardless of it paying respects to 08ms or referencing Terminator instead, I think the design works as a powerful enemy.

This legitimately sounds better than the real trailer. The OG sound effects actually sound so much more appropriate. Even the stepping at 0:16 fits right in.
So i came back to this after watching the show and let me say that you got everything spot on with the main character being a newtype and the gundam pilot being a child solider
The movie/mini-series is actually pretty good! Solid 7 or 8/10. It does what it wanted to do and does it well. I'd give it a shot. It's basically a survival horror show where Zeon is the Iraqis in 1991 or Germans in 1945, and the Feds are the Americans. It has a great sense of momentum as the Zeon forces try to retreat and regroup, and really shows the late-war Federation as that - late war, they've evolved into a relentless and methodical military juggernaut which is mulching their way through the frontlines. Like the Allies in 1945. But without being invincible, it's still a war and Zeon gets in their punches too.
this is what's making me skeptical of the new one; the sounds. i can deal with a new look but it doesn't sound like an anime, just feels like a capcom cutscene. nice job btw

@@OcGuy1 this is the problem whit you. i can watch the old series but i will alwais love TB and Hattaway more. they show more how much the animation has changed and the design more closer to what whe in real life can actualy do. btw one of the gm whas a GM Kamuf: a zaku disguised as gm. i loved that detail

This is right up there with Godzilla x Kong with Showa Era sound effects. Even though I'm not a Gundam fan, I still love this and the effort you put in for other fans.
TBF some of the Voice in the OG are good and I feel are the definitive Voice for some characters, Michael Koppsa really fits Char Aznable as he brings a Sinister undertone to the Character even when he is speaking about heroism in War.

It's actually funny - not in an insulating/ridicule way - that decades and probably half a century later, the Earth Federation would still be facing a number of Space Colony Private Military Organizations like Zeon's remnants called Mars Zeon, then the Crossbone Vanguard, the Jupiter Empire, and then the Zanscare Empire. Oh, if only Bandai Namco would make another 'Late Universal Century' Gundam spin-off standalone shows.
Well because Earth is still Earth but outer space is endless and anyone who can escape the Earthsphere influence will want independence someday. It's quite amazing that the Fed last for as long as it did

I know they wanted more gritty realism but this audio really helps it to divorce it away form the uncanny valley and definintely helps the project.
It's hilarious how much the correct audio assists the project.
It also helps to excuse the awful character animations
