Didn't have this exact issue but it was the video I needed. I have been having issues with the bezel popping off when I open the laptop to use it. I finally decide to pop the bezel off for the first some since buying the laptop a year ago and I noticed that both of the clips that hold the display down and attach it to the hinge on the very far left and right broke completely free and were only being held on by the two pull strips and the screws were just holding the broken tabs... After watching your video I realized those clips with screw holes in them are actually part of the display itself and the entire display for me is NOT worth replacing just for clips being broken (completely fine otherwise) that will most likely break again anyway since the plastic is SO THIN (bad design)... So I just super glued the bottom edge down to the hinge. I know that's probably a bad idea but I am cheap and wanted to get it fixed quick. If it works it works :P

Great Video. My LCD slightly pops up from the bottom right making a cracking sound when I open or close the lid. Can it be fixed or is something broken from inside which holds the LCD?

I don't need to replace the entire screen on my flex 5 I just need to replace the diffuser sheets inside behind the screen. is this possible by opening up the metal boarder somehow without damaging the actual LCD so I can slide in some new diffuser sheets?? I already took out the white shiny paper but I think I might have to take the metal border off to get to the plastic sheets. Thank you for your time

I have a FLEX 5 where the screen case is pulling apart at the right hinge. It appears to be happening because the screen catches on the keyboard as I open it. The spacing is all of sudden too narrow. The left side is fine. I know there have been hinge problems with this model, but the hinge is working, it simply is no longer maintaining the proper spacing between the screen and keyboard as it opens. I can apply some pressure to the screen and/or keyboard when I open it to keep the spacing, but can't figure out why it started to happen. Any thoughts/advice? Thanks!

It sounds bent or broken. You'd have to take the panel out and see what the back casing screws look like.

@@TheNetGuy Ugh. I'm guessing that panel is held in by that same adhesive your video shows? Way above my pay grade, but may give it a try. Thanks!

question - where can I buy a replacement cable for the touchscreen? I think it got pinched after I replaced the screen, appears very fragile and possibly cut inside the wrapping. it worked fine for a month, now touch input not working. it doesn't even show up in windows drivers. I spent an hour with Lenovo tech support, but they only provided me with their EDPcableW81X1, which is NOT it. this is a 10 pin flat connector, round cable of 8 or so wires inside a black tape, that goes onto the small circut board at the bottom right of the monitor panel. then it connects to the MB under the heatsink/fan combo. I am more than capable of repairing it, I just need a part # and where to order from. thx!

i replaced my keyboard (got a new one with backlight), and my screen backlight started randomly failing from time to time. turns off, turns on, etc. until one day it never worked again. Opened my laptop backcover, and then it suddenly started working again after a few months, then after 20 mins got off again until now. any idea?

I am facing an issue with the same laptop that nobody is able to diagnose. Lenovo does not support the repair of this model in India.
The screen occasionally goes black, sometimes forming a circle that zooms in and out and makes the laptop very very laggy.
This mostly happens when browsing on the internet and opening certain websites, the screen starts to flicker and 3/4th of the screen turns black.
I tried to fac reset my laptop but it blackens out the window where I need to select options to reset it and is usually fixed once i close the settings tab.
This video is as close as I have come to my problem on the internet and the black flickering could possibly be related to a loose wire, something you looked at and I guess the problem did not repeat itself.
Would opening the laptop as a DIY at home be suggested by you?
PS: my laptop was dropped as well.

Is there a way you could fix mine, I’m not exactly sure what’s wrong with it. I know the screen is cracked but also the touchscreen and pen don’t work
Or would you possibly know what is wrong with it and how I could fix it?

Do you have an idea why replacements for flex 5 touch screens don't support touch pen? I need to replace my screen and would love to keep the pen working.
