its weird. in the movie she actually looks like a 17 year-old and in real life she is so mature and totally looks like an adult
makeup helps
Duhhh! Because she is 24 years old.
The opposite of what I said to the officer.
exactly what i was thinking!
mid 20s are when you can pass as both a teenager and an adult
“THERE IS NO ROLE OF THE TEMPEST”
I love this part , she just exploded.
It''s great how she can do an interview without trying to be funny or getting big laughs from the audience and still be a really interesting guest
Morg Pajo so true.
She just has that Irish humour that people find hilarious
true, but saoirse is funny af
I need to hire this woman to read audio books.
Jim's videos You can't afford her
hope you got a couple Ms
That's sounds like an amazing idea.
She fits Siri in Warbreaker if it ever gets a movie.
Jim's videos me too
She is Ireland's Meryl Streep. That pinnacle actress of her generation that will transcend generations. And she is also just a fine young lady as well. Much kudos to her and I hope she and the movie get lots of AA nominations.
She's no Conor McGregor! lol
shut up she's Ireland's saoirse Ronan. not everyones just a knock off version of an american
I hope she gets the AA.
Angelina Vereshchuka wat
Luca Fustagno is that a problem? You voted for a communist or a career criminal...
You can tell Stephen was taken by her poise and charm. He just smiled throughout his clip
She's a narcissist, catch the clues, pathological liar
@@alonsoramirez3554 excuse me what?
@@alonsoramirez3554 LOL i love the internet
@@alonsoramirez3554 Nah, I don't think she is.
In my experience, narcissists tend to not give too much attention to their interlocutor when they are 'having a conversation' (so to speak).
Well, that's kind of the thing about them.
They can't really 'have' a proper conversation with a sane person.
They almost always feel the need to direct (or redirect) the focus of the conversation on themselves, and quite often they do it by belittling what others have to say.
She, on the contrary, is totally invested in the conversation.
Sure, all they talk about is her film and her, but you can see that she's genuinely interested in what Stephen has to say.
And it's not the fact that she's a good actress and can therefore fake it well, 'cause she's like this in pretty much every talk show I've seen her participate in.
Obviously, these are just my two cents about it.
It could very well be that I was dealing with a particularly serious case of narcissist when I had my experience with that person.
He was even a Leo (astrologically speaking), that surely didn't help him lol.
@@renewannewithaneplease5546 Alonso is an ass. Ignore.
Stephen genuinely loves this movie. I will definitely check it out.
it was great
It is really great. First time I'd been to a theater in a few years.
FontuneTheTeller ahhhhhhhhhh yes. Fuck the first amendment and basically human individuality lmao
Jon Campos yeah that's exactly what the lady wants, boy
I've seen it. It's an astonishing film
Everytime I watch Stephen Colbert give an actress in heels a hand up the stairs and uneven flooring and he just times it by watching their feet and is actually helpful I like him even more.
Craig Ferguson was the first talk show host I can recall that did this for woman that I saw. Glad to see Stephen take the mantle though he doesn't do this for all woman.
Gracie C. 8
He used to say that it was his wife who made him to do that, and that he's sure to hear it from her whenever he forgets to do so for the female guests :)
Craig Ferguson did the same thing. It is thoughtful, endearing.
She's so pretty here. She reminds me of Cate Blanchett. Classy, elegant, smart, and talented woman.
nerd vana She's the most talented young actor of this generation. She'll be a legend in the future
oh my god they were in the same movie together! my first favorite movie of saoirse is Hanna
They starred in Hanna....together
👌👌👌
I love how there’s nothing phony about her. She’s so genuine and unpretentious.
Well she’s a good actress
@@Dan-gi6tf ??
Stephen's interest in this movie further highlights how much he struggles feigning interest with other actor guests whose work he doesn't give a shit about.
Oh c'mon, you're not excited to see Fast n Furious 25?
You're well named aren't you ? :-)
That happens to every talk show host eventually. They can't genuinely like every movie or actor being promoted. That'd be weird.
Such as.....??
Fast and Furious 25: Adult Diaper Leakage
"God will be looking down on you, judging you, Stephen!"
I really love how putting his name at the end of this sentence added 100000% Drama.
This girl could inhabit any personality and make it her own. I have no idea how she does it, and I think that puts her in the category of genius.
Do you see, Jimmy Fallon? This is how you do an interview!
Exactly
Uh... Jimmy Fallon is gone!
Graham Norton imo is also one of the best interviewers
What's your problem with jimmy fallon
@@isabellavetere9098 we have a bone to pick
Oh God, her voice and accent are beautiful!
Martini Dah she’s actually Irish
Martini Dah youre right. It doesn’t count to me tho since she moved to Ireland when she was 3. So i guess we’re both right😅😘
She has mix of American and Irish accent
@@rohandutta8902 No she doesn't. Her accent is 100 percent Dublin suburbs, north side.
Saoirse and Stephen are a great team.
I love this actress. Its not just her looks or her accent or even her acting(which are all incredible) but she just has an aura about her that makes it seem like shes legit glowing. I wish her continued success.
I love her eye makeup
yeah, nice way to ruin a gorgeous pair of eyes. looks like she got 2 shiners in a bar fight. can never figure out why women do this to themselves!
ashleylalala I love her voice! I guess I love Irish woman now lol add them to the list of Russian, German and African woman I am gaga over lol
I actually forgot about the middle eastern, swedish and Norwegian woman.. spanish.. Oh ok shit I just love all ethnicities LMAO
steveosworld if u watch interviews with her .....probably 99% of the time she is without makeup....... and i love her face..... and I really like this make up too
.....make up should be something fun u do from time to time..... doing it every single day and not feeling yourself without makeup is just unhealthy......... but also doing makeup often just as something fun like painting is also fine..... it depends on why people do it
Colbi Godlove as an Irish woman your one to be avoided undecided can't make up your mind
Needless to say, Saoirse's accent is one of the reason I like her so much!
Paradox Dublin accent
Saoirse Ronan is absolutely one of the most beautiful women in the world, and with the talent, brilliance and elegance to match that beauty.
She was BRILLIANT in Lady Bird. That movie is one of my all time favorites
saoirse is one of the best actresses of her time. she's truly amazing in every role she does.
Ngl my heart broke a little when he said Sacramento's boring :( until Saoirse said she loved it ayyy thats my hometown
As someone who is from Sacramento this is hands down my favorite movie of all time. I can relate to almost everything and I can’t watch it without crying. Also very nice to see some positive representation of Sacramento cause it is very beautiful
"if Laurie Metcalf does not win Best Supporting Actress then I don't know what is that award even for" BIG MOOD
"The Lovely Bones" actress. She's grown
ahhhh knew I knew her from somewhere - thank you ♥
And She's the lead in Netflix Allis Grace...love her voice
Anita Thomas she is not? that's another person
Sarah C. Nope, she is
I was answering Anita, the main actress in Alias Grace is Sarah Gadon, I watched it this weekend
Love the answer to the question "why does the movie resonate with everyone?". She sounds a smart girl!..
I once fell in love with an Irish girl named Sinéad whose accent was just this charming. Sigh.
I can’t wait to see Ladybird, I absolutely adore all of her movies. Phenomenal actress.
Apparently you can wait, the movie's been out for quite some time.
tytytytyty apparently you’re not aware that everyone on UA-cam is not from wherever you are. It comes out next year on Valentine’s Day here in Australia.
lol, ok. your fault, kangaroo.
lol, ok. I still saw Ladybird before you.
tytytytyty yeah no worries, I’m fine waiting a couple months longer for the occasional indie movie, so long as I have free health care.
Atonement and Hanna are great movies, she's excellent in them
She's even better in this one.
Asmodeus Have to see it when it comes out in my country
Also, the Grand Budapest Hotel and How I Live now. (both fantastic movies)
You got to see Brooklyn then
don't forget The Lovely Bones
I. Need. To. Know. How. She. Can. Switch. Accents. So. Seamlessly.
Lady Bird is currently my favorite film of the year.
zypher8677 really? Its that good?
mindbogglingly good
Kindness is Beauty it’s amazingly good. Have you watched it by now? What did you think?
Kindness is Beauty yes!!
Steve is like a proud dad
Greta Gerwig better get all the directing nominations!
I disagree, Lady Bird is easily the most overrated and pretentious film of 2007. Three Billboards and The Shape of Water were a million times better.
Eh, no. I thought it was a great movie, and very well-written, but the way it was shot and directed was by far the least interesting thing about it.
steveforprez03 good thing it wasn’t in 2007 then
Sacramento native here! I saw them filming the blue house in the fab 40's!
Are those houses in Sacramento?....I coulda swore some of them were in Modesto
pepemauricio no all the ones in the movie are from the fab 40’s
The 'fake grandma's' house?
I am from Sacramento (Well hour north. Yuba City) and I go to school outside of Chicago and it made me miss it so bad!
Sacramento native as well! I was geeking out the whole time watching the movie! It felt like such an accurate portrayal of Sacramento.
Listening to Saoirse talk from 9:12 onwards almost brought tears to my eyes remembering the film. It's a jewel
Saoirse Ronan is friggin beautiful dude. I had a crush on her back in high school when I saw The Lovely Bones and to this day she's still as classy and beautiful.
I watched the film and Stephen is 100% accurate.
What a cool young lady!! And gorgeous too!
The silence behind them speaking is just lovely and inviting and earmarks the intensity they’re speaking inside….I dig it
7:21 "you're like a character in a James Joyce novel." wow, I knew Colbert was well read, but wow.
shopworn angel
Ya he's smart. I've been watching him for many years and he knows quite a bit.
shopworn angel I agree that Colbert is very well-read and intelligent, but I feel like knowing James Joyce's writings isn't that huge of an achievement. He's one of the best-known authors in modern history. I'd be more surprised to hear that someone doesn't know of him or his work.
Lol, I don't mean to call people uncultured for not knowing him, it's just that in my personal experience, not knowing about James Joyce is like not knowing about Alfred Hitchcock. I'm not actually super familiar with either of them, but I have read/seen or at least heard of their most famous works on many occasions. I don't even like Joyce's novels, but I know them.
Pretty sure most people know of James Joyce.
Ok, chill out Professor - James Joyce is a key figure in Modernist Literature, and 'Ulysses' is possibly one of the hardest books to chew through (in my humble opinion), fair enough, most people with a basic education know that - all I was trying to point out that for a talk-show host, Colbert has an extra element of intelligence to him, 's all. For instance, I can't really see Fallon quoting Shakespeare anytime soon.
Her eyes are gorgeous so is her accent
OMG when the Toy Story 2 and Catholicism parts came she went FULL irish, It was Wonderful, never heard Saoirse on that level.
but still, like... you can't get more Irish than that phrase
Catholicism is a mental disorder.
@Shadow Assassin: Nice try. Trolling is getting old dude. Its 2017, grow up.
ernest747 and yet mental disorders and suicide and all orders of mental disorders have exploded in the last few years since the supposed diminishing of Christianity
Toy story 2? Which part?
This is the first time I have seen her interviewed. I immediately understand why Hannah was so fucking brilliant. This woman is switched on, she's an intellectual performer of her craft. I reckon' it'd be pretty fuckin' daunting to direct an actor this apparently naturally clever, let alone naturally talented. For a first time director to create a film Stephen says is one of his favourites of the year, to direct this woman, you gotta give it up for Greta Gerwig. It must have been fucking terrifying to have that responsibility as a director, with a cast like that, with an actor like this woman.
Stephen Colbert & Saoirse Ronan = Instant Awesome
She’s so well spoken... I love the way she describes the film at the end...
she’s such a beautiful soul.
She's so proud of the movie, because it was a work that everyone participated can be proud of, it's perfect.
I'm in love with her work! And her accent!
Lauryne Amanda the accent is everything
Thats us irish for you, the most charming people in the world... Come visit Ireland, you'd love it
ian bradley northern Irish too
As someone who's just a year older than her, I think she's the best actress of our generation! She does not get as much recognition as she should. She's just brilliant! Love her. She seems like such an interesting person too, I would love to just be able to grab a coffee with her.
The movie was great!
From a little girl from Atonement, she has grown into such a beautiful, extremely talented actress. Love all her films.
i love how when stephen says "Sersha" he immediately corrects himself to "Seirsha"
What an incredible talent this young woman is!!!!
i love that they're both so appreciative throughout this video! saoirse is simply extraordinarily good
She has very fascinating hand gestures.
6:26 love her charming little "knock on wood"
what i love most about saoirse ronan is that, you don't get to see how great she is in putting herself into the character's shoes alone but, you will also feel the versatility of her acting as if she was made to fit "every" role; it was like a dress with unknown sizes, yet with her it still fits nonetheless. she has the ability to mold herself to be the character as well as mold it to be hers.
She has amazing eyes!. I dont think i could ever look away.
I have never seen any of her stuff but she is adorable.
Christian Schoff Start with Hanah... Epic movie man
Or The Lovely Bones, it was also a Peter Jackson movie - so it was awesome.
Brooklyn is wonderful!
You should start from Atonement
Luis Marcadella that was her???
I love this interview, they talk about the movie from the start to finish. I can't wait it to be released in my country
oh god, I'm in love. she's gorgeous, it seems inside and out. that accent is second to none.
she's so adorable.
This is the interview I've been waiting for since watching the movie. It made me love it even more, if that was even possible.
Me gosh. This girl talking about Lady bird is making me feel warm and fuzzy.. Saoirse Ronan is now my favorite actor and I think she will continue to one of the greatest and will definitely last long because she has no social media accounts.. and that's brilliant actually. She knows how to take care of herself!
these two are a great duo!
An Irish angel
She’s literally an angel from Ireland!
Awesome interview. Colbert just let Saoise shine.
I could listen to that woman talk all day...
She's an amazing actress! So talented! 💕
"you're looking at this person, figure themselves OUUUSSSSSSS"
I fell in love with her accent.
Finally an interesting interview with unique and personalized questions adequate to her as an artist and not only as someone with a difficult name to pronounce
I LOVE HER ACCENT. She's awesome.
Me watching from Sacramento rn after Stephens comments 😭
Hey we have a lot do. Live one hour away from the ocean and one hour away from the ski resorts ! Not many places can say that!
@nicole valletta Yeah but we don't have to deal with Southern Californians
i feel like Saoirse is the definition of Classy & Cool and i love her
wow, that last minute where she talked about the humanity in this movie...wow. So true and beautiful this movie transcends all boundaries
Lady Bird was such a good film, I absolutely loved it. Some very well written scenes that brought me to tears multiple times
I first saw her in Brooklyn, immediately fell in love with her, she's so adorable and i could listen to her voice all day.
I could listen to her all day long....
She’s very classically beautiful
I've finally seen enough of her in interviews that I can pronounce her name without hesitation. Thanks Saoirse!
Colbert hating on Sacramento hurt my feelings. We're the damn capitol of CA.
Just now watched "Ladybird" and now my eyes are red and puffy from the damn tears.
Really interesting what she was saying about different people can connect with the character because all people go through the phase of trying on different identities.
I really enjoy being entertained by her. Great actress and lovely personality.
when I read that Saoirse knew why I like that film I thought: she knows that I have mom/dad issues
Her response at the end to stephens question was spot on
I relate to lady bird so much it hurts .
I had a huge crush on her accent the day I accidentally saw her making a cup'f tea video. I've been trying to collect all'f her films ever since.
I could listen to that accent all day.
She is a truly fantastic actress.
I love the comparison to a photo album
Her accent is awesome!!
I fell in love with her in City Of Ember.
whoever did her eye make up was brilliant
i cant stop watching videos of saoirse i love her and her accent 😭
She's my fave hands down!
Wtf I never knew she was Irish thats an amazing American accent she does
Alice Her mom is American, dad is Irish, she is good at both accents.
actually she's american but her parent's are from Ireland she's has both Citizenships
Her mother isn't american she's Irish. Saoirse was raised in Ireland, she considers herself Irish
Venatix_ 92 she was born in America and moved to Ireland super young. Her parents are both Irish and unless you are Native American there is no such thing as an American
I just watched Lady Bird, and I live in Sacramento. I’ve never liked living here, having grown up in a more rural setting. But this film made me fall in love with Sacramento, something I thought would have been impossible. So well done💕
Saoirse Ronan and Shailene Woodley are both such grounded and insightful people, and spectacularly talented actors. Wish they did a movie together.
She's truly wonderful, both as an actor and as a person.
