    I absolutely love the sound of EDF. Totally ear catching, and those passes are great to watch. My challenge is, I'm apparently a flight time snob. So I think I just need to get over that and just pin the throttle?

      Flying a jet requires focus and for people new to it, 5 mins could feel like 5 hours ( kinda like the first time humans have sex ) 😆

      @@CAPTAINDRONE798 I saw an orb in the sky last march as I was walking home, it was going round in circles between 2 clouds, I would say it was about 6 000 feet up, I tried to capture it on my phone but it shot into the cloud, it went like the clappers, so keep your eyes open because you don't know what's going over, and one day you might get lucky.

    Good morning Steve, this EDF looks like a winner. I love the look the gear and the sounds. I am going to get a little more serious about flying g planes and would like your honest opinion on what would be the best radio for a beginner. I have flown and owned planes before but they were what you were describing. A beginner rtf that came with a radio. I'm looking for ease of use being a beginner but also most bang for buck etc. If you could please suggest a few options. Thanks.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  8 місяців тому +2

      Currently, as of today, best beginner kit is the $199 Ranger 850 I recently reviewed. If you want your own radio and live in North America, then get a Spektrum NX6 and buy planes by flight that are Bind and Fly (everything will work together)

    Hey Captain Drone, a very great review and another great video from you, as always. This model is the one that I would love to buy, and I live in Ontario. Unfortunately, FMS US company does not ship this model to Canadian addresses because it says that “FMS EDF Jet 64mm Futura PNP is currently only available for purchase in the United States due to limited inventory.” I would be very happy if anyone could tell me how we can buy this model from Canada.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  8 місяців тому +2

      I live in Ontario as well. I talk to FMS often, and they have sent more planes to Canada which you should see at the end of next month. Do you check the Canadian website when you look for FMS planes? This is why FMS does not ship to Canada from their US and international store, because we have our own. Also, you can buy FMS products through GREAT HOBBIES in Canada. If you don’t see an FMS product you want on their website, just email them and they’ll order it for you from their distributor.

    About to pull the trigger on this one. Do you think if ESC is upgraded to 60A, it can handle 5S? I fly mostly scale (55% throttle) but like to do 1 or 2 passes at full throttle. Will 5S be a problem in those short passes?

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798

  • @ianmilroy8009
    @ianmilroy8009 8 місяців тому +1

    Hey, love your videos but have to disagree with your statement that flying an FPV drone helps with being able to fly an r/c plane. With an fpv your view is as if you are sitting in a real plane. Left is always left, up is up etc. With an r/c plane when it is coming towards you the aileron and rudder controls are reversed, when flying inverted so is the elevator. Try flying towards you inverted takes extra effort for obvious reasons...... My full size gliding instructor always said flying models is always harder for that reason and he couldn't manage it. Other than that keep up the good work. 👍

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  8 місяців тому +2

      All I can say is that I am living proof. I did have to switch my brain around to not push the right joystick forward when flying forward. In the course of one year I have gone from never flying a plane to being able to fly anything. Not only that, since I use both joysticks, I’m the only pilot at my field (of super experienced pilots) that can fly a plane very near myself from any angle at speed. So many long in the tooth pilots at my field fly with the right joystick and unfortunately at high speeds, some lose control due to too much bank & yank without corresponding rudder. When my weather warms up I’ll make a video on how I move the joysticks in flight as it is very different then the typical RC plane pilot.

      You can fly electric just stay away from the windows, particularly if you are not ripping some noisy quads. Gas motors are out. Obviously. And if after the classes are out for the day or weekends, what’s the big deal? Where I am the colder the better. If there is a ball field or sports field - the better. The idea is not to distract the students. He has a huge property there seems more than a school, football field. Some parks are very large, just stay away from others. The plane is has is relatively small. Some of the hobby gas ones are massive.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  8 місяців тому +2

      The goal in the RC hobby is to have fun and in my area of the world, people let the “grownups” have fun with RC hobby for the simple reason we don’t annoy anyone. If you can’t fly in your area it is probably because some idiot annoyed someone and a complaint was made.

    I don't think all DJI drones are or should be called beginner or just for beginners. I know a few people that have flown for years and make good money off those beginner drones.

    • @olabergvall3154
      @olabergvall3154 8 місяців тому +3

      I think Steve is referring to how you don't have to be knee deep in the RC hobby and know about different radios, receivers, flight controllers, etc etc, to just go out and pick up a dji cinematic camera drone, and included will be everything you need to just go out and put it in the air...
      Not that dji doesn't make drones suitable for professional use, because everybody knows they do. But they're not complicated just to get flying, anybody can do that. At least consumer drones up to and including the Mavic 3 series.
      Now to get the most out of your drone, and make money with it, that's a skill set in and of itself of course.

    • @xhappy425

      He meant the controls not the drone itself..

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  8 місяців тому +1

      DJI was the first successful company to offer drones ready to fly designed for beginners. Think of it this way… if you were a wedding photographer and had camera knowledge, you could by a MAVIC (any size) and be flying and filming the same day. Think of everyone who buys a DJI MAVIC drone… 80% are beginners to the drone hobby. The other 20% are repeat buyers. Most drone pilots own at least one DJI drone. As you know, the drone does all the flying for you. The only skill a pilot needs is to operate a camera while flying (that is the challenge that requires practice)… and the most difficult part is actually filming something pleasing in a fashion that is presentable for public viewing (that is where the pro pilots of DJI drones come in).

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  8 місяців тому +2

      You are correct. You require zero skills or RC Hobby knowledge to operate a DJI Drone.
