God bless you. Carrier frequency set from 6khz to 15khz( maximum value for my vfd). no more noise. although at a very low rpm there is still a humm, but I don't really use under 100rpm. Now it's time to change the fan of the vfd, a small noctua should do.
LOVE your shirt!!!! REALLY am JEALOUS of your lathe! When I was working at Hughes Aircraft, I was able to do afterhours projects on a Monarch lathe like yours, and what a machine!
Hughes aircraft.... Man are you ..... 😃 My stepdad was given a scholarship from Hughes Aircraft and worked there while too. The 10EE is a sweet machine. Hard to believe my Atlas has the same work dimensions but s 2500 pounds lighter. I hated getting brow beaten by holy than everyone's when covid kicked off. Was one of the first to take a shot at the VA and lose the mask. It was my "up yours" to those that didn't like it. Luckily here in FL, it went the way of the dodo pretty quick. Thanks for watchin. Don
Don, Another good video, I appreciate the in depth info on the VFD, still a nu-be in this world. I'm a cabinet maker and running my shop on 50hp phase converters kill's me every month to see the electric bill, want to change over, I still need to start with the Bridgeport just been busy. I found your channel looking for craftsman drill presses I also re-stored one, keep up the good work.....
It’s hard to hear because the machine makes so much noise from the drive. What I notice on some of mine, is that I get a whine that increases as the speed increases. But it’s not a problem, though just maybe slightly annoying, but I leave it alone.
Buona serata.
Good point, and i probably should have mentioned that the manual allows for given frequency settings based on the motor size/capacity allowing for this issue. I was definitely within the safe zone with this set up. Don
Excellent information. I've been hearing a high pitched whistle from my lathe for years.
Thanks, Just be sure to keep it in recommended parameters. Don

Thanx Sandi.. yes, the phase converters will kill your bill for sure. The rotary's are noisy as heck to boot. Don

YA, some of my VFD's are prey quiet. This one didn't bother too much till I took care of the mechanical noise.
Thanks for sharing
