I hate Montreal but they were about to score possibly. Tampa Bay should have gotten more penalties than recieved. two or three Tampa players started the fight to avoid a power play.

As I understand it play should have kept going until Tampa touched it.

Yes, but, he's getting a little older now...and they have Kucherov and Point, sooooo, it's not surprising. They also have Hedman and Sergachev (oh, and Vasilevskiy), all superstars, when healthy. I would say Stamkos is part of their core, which is just as important, and he is the 3rd best forward on the team.
This is how sad this league has become. Hugging a guy even when your own teammate was the cause of the "injury".

Just jumping a guy to fight him isn't going to result in that big a suspension. It would take something more dangerous, like a McSorley stick attack.
Also, what is Eyssimont's history when it comes to fines and suspensions? Not sure if he's got much to his name.

but I do agree that it wasn’t violent compared to McSorley, but it has more to do about sending a message than the violence of it itself
you can’t just blindly jump someone like that, it will give a precedent were it’s okay to take an investigator misconduct whenever one of your teammates is down even if you beat the crap of someone who wasn’t even implicated in the play, even worst considering that Eyssimont doesn’t have a single excuse since he literally saw Stamkos ran a train on Hagel
