Hey! I hope you enjoy this video dedicated to the Obagi Nu Derm Rx system, a system that I truly love and have seen amazing first hand results for for my clients. However this system isn’t for everyone so in this video I touch on my professional findings, reality when it comes to downtime and how to manage expectations correctly to get the most out of it. If anyone has undergone this system I’d love to know how your experience was. Belle xo
I’ve been using Obagi Nu Derm for almost 6 months, my hyperpigmentation has cleared a lot but not 100%. I’ve gotten chemical peels along with the kit. I’m hoping to see more progress.
Hi! Great to hear the system is working for you. Treatment results vary depending on the protocol you are following so if you have questions about your progress I would direct those to your skincare professional as they will be keen to help you I’m sure 👍
Hi thanks for the video. I tried it for 8 months didn't change anything. actually my face got worst. I am sure its working with some people but my experience was bad. I got the full obagi nu derm system and I applied as instructed twice a day nothing changed. my face started peeling after 4 months and that was also very little. and as soon I stopped it after 8 months my face got worst. but didn't fix it. I am sure its working for other people but maybe for me didn't work at all. and its really expensive. that's my experience. I wish for whoever want to try the best. sorry my experience wasn't good doesn't mean it will be the same for the rest.

Hi Belle, I loved this video, very informative. I first used the Nu derm back in 2015 and do a cycle of it once a year being of Indian background. I’m curious about using it with a vitamin c. I have also used the elastiderm eye cream and found it gave me tiny little bumps under the eyes, can I get a little information about this. Thank you.
Hi Sanjay. Thanks for your comment. There is so much potential with the Nu Derm however I’ve definitely learnt over the years working alongside clients that following strict protocols, monitoring usage amounts and the need for regular support is what really obtains the best results. It’s definitely not a system for just a client to use unassisted as I strongly believe the true potential is locked when in partnership with a professional. Have you tried a different product within the ELASTIderm range? It may be the cream consistency is a little thick for your delicate under eye area, meaning a gel formulation may be better. It sometimes is trial and error. The Pro-C serum is something I always recommend however the % is based upon the skin type being treated. If you’d like to gain some further advice we can arrange a 1-1 zoom call so do email me at belle@glowbay.co.uk if you’d like to gain further info on that. Belle xo
Hi there. I wouldn’t recommend to do this. If you are wanting to switch out the tretinoin for retinol I would use them singly as part of a protocol that’s approved by our aesthetician. I hope that helps 😊
Hi! The system is based on a clinical study of 18-24 weeks however it is common treatment time may be longer. Client results are assessed every month and tweaks made where needed to enhance performance. I speak with clients every month to ensure we’re always on track. The main difference between Nu Derm Rx & Fx is that the Rx contains products hosting Hydroquinone 4%, and the Fx contains products hosting Arbutin 7%. The Fx can therefore be classified as ‘non prescription’ in comparison, but both can be inclusive of Tretinoin which automatically makes it prescription. Hope that makes sense a little! Further info on the systems can be found in my ‘Rx vs Fx’ video I filmed for my channel so you can check that out. Belle xo
Hi! Thanks for this. Video it’s such great information. I’ve been using the nuderm system for 4 weeks now with the 0.1% tretinoin. First few weeks I had lots of peeling, now I’m getting eczema like patches on face. Is this normal? I’ve had to take breaks to calm down these flare ups (is that counter productive)? Shall I pause the tret or the whole system all together ? Or just continue use? Many thanks!!
Hey. Thanks for your comment, I’m glad you enjoyed the video. If you’d like to email me directly at info@eternoclinic.com we can discuss this more privately. Belle xo
I have been using Obagi Nuderm system for many years. I don’t experience peeling when returning after a break in using the products. I would like to know why my skin no longer peels? Can I use the Obagi C system alongside the Obagi fx system.
Skin shedding occurs when the skin is fully stimulated by following an moderate/aggressive protocol so if shedding is not apparent it may be that your usage protocol needs to increase (use more product, more often). It’s important however to only follow protocols that are provided to you by an accredited Obagi professional, not formulated by personal choice. Differing Obagi products can be used in conjunction with one another however it’s important to understand what actives can be used synergistically. I would never leave this as a guessing game and always advise where possible if you are unsure to seek advice from an accredited professional. Belle
Hi! I can definitely help you with this however we’d need to meet at an online consultation for me to get an insight into your skin health and history. You can find the link to that in the description section to this video. I hope we chat soon! Belle xo
I’ve been using Obagi Nu derm for 4 months now and I have active acne. I use Clenziderm too to keep my spots under control.. and while my skin has cleared a lot, I still have red marks which don’t seem to calm down. I never really dealt with much hyperpigmentation but more red acne marks. I’m not sure if this system is going to give me that clear beautiful skin that I want. I have got the system from a specialist but we don’t keep in touch that regularly. So I’m kind of worried as my wedding is very soon.
Hi, I’m considering of buying the FX system to treat my pigmentation, is it worth getting it or do I have to see a doctor to get a prescription for the RX one? Thanks!
Hi! That’s very hard to say without me personally consulting you but if you’d like to know the difference between the Rx and Fx systems, I have filmed a video on this that you can check out. Belle
Im just about to start tommorow I'm extremely nervous but I am under a professional skin doctor and also reading all the advice available to me online. But I'm very nervous I must say. As i have very fair skin an being the time of year it is I'm worried about going outside once I start using this. I will be covering my entire face when outside for as much protection as possible LOL. Really I will be wearing a mask sunglasses and a hat even if Iook absolutely ridiculous! Because I am very concerned about making sure I get the best out of it.
That’s fantastic you’re taking it very seriously as it is a very active system, however I’m sure under the wing of your skin professional you will be guided throughout your journey and therefore your results will be maximised. The best of luck with it! I’d love to see your before & after ☺️
I’m two and a half weeks into using the Obagi Nuderm Fx system + Obagi retinol 1% and I’m experiencing a bad flare up of rashes all over my face. They started at the beginning of week two and seem to be getting worse. Is this normal? I emailed my specialist about it and they say it’s normal, but I don’t have much confidence in them given that I’ve read the complete opposite advice online. Would really appreciate your insight. Thank you!
Hi Victoria. I would be interested to know the protocol you are following. Have you been provided with one of these? There are different ones available, provided by Obagi themselves for all their accredited practitioners to pass on to patients to follow, varying from more mild protocols, to more aggressive protocols. During the first 1-6 weeks changes are definitely seen in the skin. Normal things would be: Soreness / cracking / redness / sensitivity / skin shedding / burning sensation to name a few. It therefore isn’t too alarming to an Obagi practitioner when patients display these symptoms as it can be classified as normal. What I will say however is as you are using retinol, and not tretinoin, I would expect the skin reaction to be more subdued, as retinol cannot stimulate the skin as strongly as tretinoin. So if you are displaying signs which may be correlated to a ‘rash’, although this is sometimes hard to distinguish against the usual downtime expected (as redness/dryness is completely normal) it may be the protocol you are following is not suitable. I would be surprised if your practitioner wouldn’t want to see you for a visual assessment at this point, as this is normal practice when treating a patient on the Nu Derm system and part of the duty of care. So I hope that is arranged for you. I’ll be happy to help further if required. Belle
I’ve been using the Nu Derm system for about 3 weeks. I’m finding that the clear and exfoderm quickly absorbs into my skin. So quickly that I don’t think I get my entire face covered well. Is there anything that I can add to these products to help it spread out more instead of using more of the actual product itself? Thank you
Hi! No you mustn’t dilute any of the products. I would advise using slightly more product to ensure the surface area can be covered a little easier. Do you have remote assistance whilst on your plan? Belle xo

Hi Belle I’m a Londoner living in USA. I’ve developed hormonal melasma from Perimenopause a year ago and have been using the system for 3 months. Using all the steps you listed minus the vit c serum. My tret is 0.1 (which I was using for 5 years). I’ve not seen any changes to my skin. It’s really strange as I’ve not pealed or flaked or anything. I’m very diligent about sun exposure too. I use all the steps as per instructions, the only thing I was advised to do that’s different from your advised routine is that I apply the tret and then apply the blender. This is at night of course. Any advise you could give I would greatly appreciate. I’m at a loss :(
Hi! It’s very hard to say when the ‘peeling’ will start to subside because if you’re still actively treating the skin, the skin will continue to respond. If you feel you have reached a point you are happy with, then it would be time to plan a maintenance plan, which would be done directly with your practitioner who initially recommended the system to you, as I assume you still have an open line of communication with them? Dryness is mainly caused by the use of tretinoin & exfoderm so when maintaining results; the active usage of these two steps can be decreased. Hope that helps. Belle xo
