Keep up the great work. Visiting this month and taking your videos in mind. Normally don't listen to many peoples opinions but yours have been great. 😉
Such a lot of really good advice in this video Alex! It’s so good to be cautious and it’s great that you show some of the most common places in Palma that pick pocketing happens so people can be extra cautious in those areas. Hopefully no one will need the advice about what to do if it happens but you explain it so well here. I enjoyed seeing lots of my Palma favourite places in this video too! Looks lovely there in the sunshine!
Thanks again for another interesting video. We plan on visiting Palma in August during our stay in Cala Bona. Do you plan on doing any videos on tips & interesting things to do & see in Palma?
After I made this video, I was sitting in a restaurant a few weeks ago and there was a kid crawling between the tables dipping into the bags.. So absolutely never leave a handbag on the floor!
Thanks for the useful advice! I always keep my passport in the safe in my hotel room, so it's very unlikely anyone can steal it. I have had inexpensive things stolen from me on the Copacabana Beach, Rio de Janeiro, and a beach close to Mtwara, Tanzania. Coming over in August!
Take photos of your passport and important documents including flight and hotel bookings. Email them to yourself so even if your phone is stolen you can access them from another device ,hopefully not the police station.
Another top video Alex, your so right about pick pockets they are in all major cities but a bit more prevalent in Holiday destinations especially the number one destination for holidays in Europe ie Majorca ,last year in Puerto Pollensa our second home we were chatting to a lady who was going on a trip to Palma and I happened to say to her be careful with those back packs on your back meaning pick pockets wich was met with a raised eye brow from a lady on the next table ,another scare monger who doesn't know what he's talking about to wich I replied it ,happens, I Love Majorca its our 40 th year Coming here so I am just saying be careful, I knew this other lady was talking about me to her after we said bye and have a nice day but just trying to help, later that night at the Hotel she came up to me and said you were right we had our passports and debit and credit cards stolen from our back pack in the Cathedral of all place's but fortunately no cash , I felt so sorry for her ,I said make sure if you see you know who tell her what happened she said I have and she was so rude to me she said I probably lost them they weren't stolen ,jeeezzz , be vigilant guys that's all, you can still have a fabulous holiday and be careful at the same time ,happy Holiday's 😊
Hi Mark - absolutely - it’s not scaremongering at all. I’ve heard too many stories of people having been pickpocketed that this is just a timely reminder pre summer. Always better to be safe than sorry 🤗
It's always funny to hear that nothing can be done. There's no political will to do anything about it. I don't hear you victim-blaming, but I do think the local culture implies that when this happens it's the fault of someone who has been 'careless'. I've lived in Barcelona for a decade and the idea is the same. In my opinion the least-solvable problem is child pickpockets, who really are released basically without consequence. Keep in mind that street entertainment is also a draw for thieves since it's tourists who are most likely to stop for it. Where the rosemary scheme is concerned, do not even let the person put it in your hand. A common tactic is for them to insist it's free - a gift! - then tell your forture, which they loudly demand you pay for sometimes with tears and a lot of embarrassing drama. This is expecially prevalent in Cordoba, but can happen anywhere in Spain!
Wow, thanks for your comment here. Yes, it's an interesting subject and one that's not easy to solve. And there is nothing that can be done expect to release these people back on the streets. :(
@@MallorcaUnderTheSun yes really. Seen it all the time abroad. Idiots getting their phones snatched out there hands because they walk around like easy targets

Hi Caroline! I don't want to hear of anyone getting pickpocketed this year. I may be repeating myself as we go through the summer too.

It's on the agenda Dan!
Great advice, you just need to be aware, it's awful seeing all the backpacks & bags on floor or tables. Palma still looks amazing.

Definitely best to keep the passport etc under lock and key! It's worth paying the couple of euros extra per day for.
Pickpockets are everywhere it seems.
Thanks for the video
