I'm a hard rock, metal guy. And i secretly love this song!!! Me and my daughter used to sing this song when i used to drive her to kindergarten. It almost makes me cry when i hear it.
klaws32 same here. I’m usually listening to Megadeth or Slayer but I occasionally find myself jamming out to this, Sara Bareilles, or Ellie Goulding haha.
I feel ya. I had a taste of it as a kid. Glad I got to experience that time. Seemed like the world would always be like it was at the time. Now everything is just weird and a bit surreal
So True. No social media and people in the world know those singers and bands via only cable tv or show up in the tv show of that country but Those singers and bands can be famous in the world level and become a legend.
Crazy how one didn't appreciate something at the moment. On 1999, I would have changed the radio station. Today, I watched this old clip with open arms. I miss the 80', 90's, and early 2000's.
That was what fist attracted me to this song and band, the simplicity and raw sound of their instrumentation. The original studio version shows this off better though.
@@gregq55In this live version, her voice is more colorful and dramatic than in the studio version. You know, like the studio dumbed it down. This version is great
what was happened to us? music is an expression of our humanity, and if these tunes and melodies were hits 25 years ago, we have certainly turned into a very different kind of human beings if we listened to the hits that the younger generations are producing. There is no sweetness, there is not innocence, there is less humanity nowadays in the songs. Could we be spiraling down into an era of decay?
This song makes me realise that I really do love 90s music, It's got such a creative, energetic vibe about it, I just love it and to me this song captures that feel perfectly.
One of the most innocent-looking, gorgeous faces in the history of pop music. And I'm 69 years old and have seen a LOT of women singers in my life. I think I like it so much because it was one of my daughter's favorite songs when she was in Jr. High.
The 90s was a very special time I remember I felt the special energy when I was in the 90s it was so real things were more deeper especially emotions and talent
Such a fine song. A HIT SONG in it's own! Love it. Very classy for eons! This is how to write a classic. Take note of how the structure leads to a sense of a back-and-fourth theme. it's infectious. A HIT!
LYRICS Kiss me out of the bearded barley Nightly, beside the green, green grass Swing, swing, swing the spinning step You'll wear those shoes and I will wear that dress Oh, kiss me beneath the milky twilight Lead me out on the moonlit floor Lift you open hand Strike up the band, and make the fireflies dance silvermoon's sparkling So kiss me Kiss me down by the broken tree house Swing me, upon its hanging tire Bring, bring, bring your flowered hat We'll take the trail marked on your father's map Oh, kiss me beneath the milky twilight Lead me out on the moonlit floor Lift you open hand Strike up the band, and make the fireflies dance silvermoon's sparkling So kiss me kiss me beneath the milky twilight Lead me out on the moonlit floor Lift you open hand Strike up the band, and make the fireflies dance silvermoon's sparkling So kiss me So kiss me So kiss me So kiss me
All these songs that were played on tv and movies when I was growing up. Even if I hated the movie or the genre of music. The songs always stuck with me and the older I get the more fond of them I become. I really miss the era when every movie had a hit soundtrack with it and and sometimes a music video featuring the actors from the movie.
I love how she isn't afraid to don the song the way she feels it...I can see how she let's her emotional feeling for the song come to the top and manifest outwardly through her physical gestures...in my opinion and experience any Human doing anything, has the ability to rise to a higher level with emotional content...I think Bruce Lee is the first Human I actually heard communicate such a point
I was born in 1996, I've grown to love emo and rock songs of the late 90s and early 2000s but this kind of songs like kiss me, stay of lisa loeb, etc, have a sweet place in my heart always.
This is one of the greatest ver made, it's seemingly simple because of her smooth as hell vocals and that's what you focus on initially because her voice is so beautiful and the story she is telling in magical. And then you listen to the music in the background which is really just making love to her beautiful voice and has so many incredible chord changes. It's hypnotic.
Although i primarily listen to gospel music, jazz and orchestra music, I absolutely adore this song. There's so much going on and all of it gels together beautifully to tell the story.
Interesting, nostalgia for the 90’s as a hopeful time. They usually coincide with everyone’s’ college years and early adulthood. Simpler time. Fewer responsibilities. Not yet aware of our own limitations.
Just amazing and genius this song. I love it more every time I hear it. It's March 2022 heard these people when they came out with these, but have never known who they were or seen them.

@caveman Versace oh yes definitely Enya! Nostalgic moments and great vibe fantasies just listening to her music👍👌
Awww....thats awesomen dude! I like this song too, man. Its one of those songs that you kinda hate to admit.
The 90's seem like a Utopia now.
Yep nothing but COVIDs and other awful bullS@#t . . .
Yes suh!
Well, then you would have no UA-cam to write such comment.
@@typingcat that's not a bad thing

same here mate
Nostalgia...such a bittersweet feeling.
Because you were young
Not me fam. This was my jam when it came out. Blasted it with no shame even though everyone else used to cringe lmao. Still my song today.
This is my haircut during lockdown after my wife watching UA-cam tutorial of how to cut hair.

@Big Smoke do you always believe the genders posted online? Do you think I am a dog typing?
I got a good laugh from your comment. Very witty!
I'm having that cut this weekend...
Aren't you lucky! Her's would have cost a fortune and you got yours for nothing.
One of the best love songs ever written!
That accordion hits!!
The performance and instrumentation are so simple, yet so strong... Just lovely.
That was what fist attracted me to this song and band, the simplicity and raw sound of their instrumentation. The original studio version shows this off better though.
Instrumentals
its that old country sound with the accordian and the strumming so perfect
Really like this live performance, she's such a good live singer.
I was surprised she song it that well. I thought it was all studio engineered?
Her name's Leigh Nash. She was excellent.
I totally agree with you, man

She's beguiling.
Beautiful understated Bass line on this. Perfect.
Agreed!!!!
My playlist is nothing but groovy baselines no matter the era genre artist This song has a spot no doubt.
The bass is so good in this song!

We take time for granted. When this song came out all I wanted was my independence and to be a grown up. I would give anything to relive my youth

It really is such a huge mix of musical styles.
‘Here and Now’ by Letters to Cleo really encapsulates that vibe too.
I always say the 90’s were the best. The music, the fashion, (not the baggie pants, what were we thinking) the movies. It was beautiful.
The song that encapsulated the romantic existential angst of the late 90’s! Not a bad way to usher in the beginning of the new millennium!
The year _1999_ was truly the pinnacle of western civilization.
I feel like that is very true. I was born in 97 and never experienced the 90's but most music I listen to came out in the late 90's.
And it went all downhill from there...

I’m still convinced she’s singing this song to me, specifically.
nah to me
Lol for real why do I swoon when I hear this song
That might be accurate, if she wasn't singing it to me.

These are actually genius lyrics when you really think about it!
No need to even think.. they’re brilliant!!🧡
the lyrics is geniusly natural. It was like a poetry and make you visually experience the whole song. Damn I hope there is still a song like this
Seriously!? Nobodies saying how dreamy and adorable she is!? 😍

exactly... why every newer generation of people like the music is worse then the one before it !
I’d be cynical of nostalgia but I get it. I remember sitting in a hot car waiting in the public library parking lot and listening to this
I think that this is probably their best performance I've ever heard, so far...
Yeah, it was great!
That is because they had a major TV network do the staging, lighting, setup, audio/visual and coaching. It is very well done.
2020. I am Russian and I am sitting here listening to this and recollecting all the great memories of my teenage years I had with this song.

99 was the best year of my life. 17 years old, beautiful girl, dancing & drinking every weekend - care free.
She is aging so beautifully. Just saw a fairly recent short vid. She looked stunning!
This was a cross over hit. Not only did it play on pop stations, but it also was played on Christian radio as well.
Cause she was a Christian artist

So whimsical and full of promise. Something sorely lacking in “today’s music”
