I’ve given rides and helped break downs. And as a white, short woman: it is literally safety. I have to trust that person I’m giving a ride to for miles isn’t going to pull a weapon on me. If they’re in the backseat, it’s even more terrifying.
But a breakdown? I get out of my car, lock it, and then don’t get into a confined space. If the driver does try to hurt me, I have plenty of space to run and they can’t randomly grab the wheel and turn my vehicle into a 70 mph weapon.
It has to be a special person for me to pick them up - normally someone my age or older who is female. Though I will say if I saw you with Hiei behind you? You’d get a free car ride.

As long as my kids arent in the car, i alway stop to help people on the side of the road.
Be it hitchikers, breakdowns, or anything else.
I do however, live in a state with constitutional Carry, and i never leave home without my protection.
Never had to use it though, not in my car.
Still have nightmares about the time someone broke into my apartment, and threatened my kids and wife.
I wouldnt change my reaction, even if i could, but Jesus, anyone who thinks its 'easy' take to a life, has obviously never done it before.
