Thank you Paul, most of these issues would not occur to me very wise. What you said about con artists selling drinks is absolutely gross, how dangerous. All the advice does apply to wherever you are so really grateful. Brilliant video x
Oooh Paul ive done the "my feet are killing me lets have a paddle",on my way home from the bars very late at night and had no idea i could get in trouble for it!! Thankyou for the excellent tips. A great vid as always x
A very informative video Paul. Having been a regular traveller since the 70's like yourself, most of these points are well known to us but many tourists would probably carry on in ignorant bliss. You have provided the travelling community with invaluable advice to help keep them safe. Well done Paul. Keep the great videos coming. They are very much appreciated.😀👍
Excellent Advice Paul.....All I ever say to travellers is 'don't leave your brains at the Airport' and Ladies keep hold of your hanbag when sitting down for a mea,l keep it over your shoulder or securely on your lap. Not on the table or over the back of your chair and the same goes for your phone.
In October we were sat at a bar near Rincon de Loix, and there was a guy in a filthy old battered van bringing so clled cocktails from theat crappy van. His mate then came and made loads more. They both came back with empty trays ! How many of those buyers ended up in hospital beggars belief. DONT buy from those scum bags ---- just DONT !
If you open Santander bank I don’t think ur be charged. We recently went to Mallorca and I forgot the satandare card so had my Monzo. I withdrew £100 euro from that bank that charge was around £7
Good advice and didnt know a couple of these points particularly not the ban on the beach from 12-7am. Good idea though, and keeps the cottagers at bay.
I've been going benidorm 30 years 3 times a year, great advice for newbies pal. But unfortunately, iv seen experienced older people who should no better. Especially older men robbed by the prostitutes near the square drunk at 3am 4am. Wallets watches necklace, all own fault
When I was over in October the best ATM rate that I found was at the Caixacallosa bank on Avenida Del Meditteraneo - can't remember exactly what it was now but it was very low compared to even more well-known banks like Santander, plus you can choose the notes to dispense - handy as you don't want to be walking round with just 50s. 🙂
Based on your Benidorm videos we went there for the first time in Oct for half term and stayed at the hotel Mercure in the Spanish part. It was great so thanks for all your advice.
Great advice i always use the wine barrel now on ur advice, leave my jewellery at home now,& they bloody p men i honestly cant understand why people still fall for this, keep my phone in my bra at all times along with my money, was in a bar just down fa the tartan bar cant remember the name of it but just outside this van was making trays & trays o drink it was disgusting just as well i don't, drink or i would have gave them a mouth full, cant wait until march siting on my balcony at the ambassador hotel watch the world go bye i come every 6 month & i can tell u ive seen it all some funny some hilarious but lately im seeing a lot of bad stuff ❤
Having listened to these, my experience of Spain, modern Greece islands, (by that I mean now not 30 years plus ago) and Turkey sounds very similar. A couple in Corfu where we went for many many years told us, that the .. (and this applies everywhere) said the young have been bought up to see tourists and holiday makers has in human, something to be swindled, conned and despised. These people who we knew were lovely genuine people, the devil is to be blamed for this in human selfish world we are in. Thank God For Jesus. X
You didn't mention it this time - though I know you have in the past - but the other thing to be aware of when the pea game isgoing on is that you are very likely to have your bag and pockets picked if you're standing watching the game. I've seen it happen to someone and when I tried to point it out the watchers came towards me in a rather menacing way! It's definitely best to just keep walking when you see the pea man about.
Thanks for this helpful video. I was aware of all of them other than the one about not going to the beach between midnight and 7 AM. I often get up for an early morning run along the beach - sometimes before 7. Am I really likely to be fined for this?
Hi Paul, Thank you for sharing this useful information with us.I think you could use some of this information in a real-life situation( like scam actor )
ATM’s don’t determine the exchange rate. Your card provider does that providing you select Euros and not Pounds or decline the exchange. They may charge you a fee for the privilege of using it. I use the ATM in the hotel and pay a fee of €5 for €200 including that €5 fee my exchange rate worked out at €1.195 for £1.
just an add on here guys....got told that if you are seen by the police crossing the road on a red light/man you are fined on the spot so dont be tempted to cross if there is no cars coming
I used to live in Benidorm,it was always a safe place. The usual scammers, obviously, they’re everywhere and always have been, but as a tourist you just had to be sensible. But it sounds like a viper’s nest now,I’m thankful I don’t live there now.Too many Brits for me.
Double drink eh its measured. By 2 ice cubes ask for your drink without ice and watch the reaction, go back shortly after and get a glass of ice cubes 😅
DO take your passport to exchange money in market :) and sadly, watch some of the bars, as they are now using the British optic to measure, ask for Spanish measure Riccos on the beach at the rincon is one to name.
@@whoknowswhere just saying what i see every year in july,me and my wife was staying in nadal hotel and walking back at 1.30am and the beach down bottom end was packed with families and some was even swimming

@whoknowswhere Not Benedorm, but loads of other, less touristy places besides living in BCN for almost 20 years. I haven't used cash since before the pandemic and there's no need as even the old €5 minimum with a card was abolished due to Covid as maybe some people couldn't or didn't want to spend a fiver if they only wanted to buy water... Had no Idea about the cash only places in Benidorm. Brit pubs for Brit tourists?
Sounds like a real shit hole, you can’t walk around on your own, got people getting robbed, can’t show you’re phone because it will get robbed, you can’t leave ya sun bed, you can get poison from dodgy drinks on the beach, and you can’t relax after a good night out, best thing to do is just give Benidorm, a miss,
Pea man and any other crowd-attracting activity have the scouts as you mentioned, but there are always some members of the group weaving through the gormless spectators and lifting wallets, phones etc. from the distracted. This happens at every tourist stop in every city or country and yet people continue to fall for it
Hi Paul, we were in Benidorm in May last year for a combined 60th and 40th. One of my friends had booked up only a week prior to the trip so his hotel was several blocks away from the main party. He got quite drunk one night and didn’t know the way to his hotel so I walked with him. On the return to my hotel alone, a scooter with two lads on decelerated and veered over towards me. I don’t drink alcohol and I’m a stocky bloke, so I stood tall and maintained a steady walk keeping my eyes on them. They accelerated away, but I’m almost certain that they were looking for an easy (drunk) target to rob. Have you heard of this happening at all? Cheers. Steve

With regard to money, open a Santander account before you leave. My husband gets €1.20 for the £1 and it’s free to use your card and withdraw money.

Changing cash? Why not just pay with a card - another good thing from the pandemic - in our almost cashless society?
Have you been to Benidorm, you will find a lot bars only take cash, and in the EU from my experience loads of places only accept cash
