    Combine that with the insanely good block and hit stun he has on most moves, making the parry timing very limited, so you are very much in the blender weather he uses this move or not.

      I'm pretty sure that the parry window is the same as other heavies, it's just that it's slightly harder to see the attack coming with it being a bit faster

    i saw your video on my recommended videos on yt and put it in the "Watch Later" folder, days passed and i started doing the side heavy finisher with Orochi a lot, and i hadn't watched the video til now lmao

    I feel guilty struggling against Orochi because, like, we as a community have been trained to make fun of people that struggle against Orochi, but he really is becoming my kryptonite. Those heavy finishers are super powerful. Unless I’m forgetting some, there aren’t too many 700ms heavies left, so they really feel jarring when they connect so quickly, especially if he’s externally hitting you and you catch the beginning of the hitbox. Let’s not forget the damage. I almost feel like we need another CCU lite because pretty much every hero/rework since the CCU and its following corrective patches have been pushing damage back up. 30+ was supposed to be reserved for select moves, but now it feels standard again on finisher heavies.
    I also gotta say, despite the jest in this video, storm rush is kinda problematic. It’s not the strongest move in the whole game, but brainlessly using storm rush over and over with a couple kicks sprinkled in for funsies is way too effective for the effort required to do it. I’ve even gone into the training arena to practice against it, and if I’m totally focused, I can reaction block it around half the time by watching for his animations (console). That is, of course, in a vacuum when I know storm rush and only storm rush is coming. In a real dominion match, it’s way harder. Also, blocking doesn’t exactly make you win, you just didn’t get hit that time, and he can do it again right away. Of course, if you can external him, that mitigates a lot of the threat, but that’s not always an option.

      Nah I feel that. As a Centurion main all I can say is you really have to force the Orochi to play into your game before you start to play into his. This game is super annoying and I still wonder why I play it

      you can light him outta the rush as long as he didn't land his previous attack and fullblock shuts it down pretty good as well

      @@devonrounds5583you can light him out of it even if you do get hit, so long as it’s light hitstun. You can trade with medium hitstun if you buffer the light, still making it a viable option if you got the HP advantage

      Storm rush should be a light parry, at the very least. It's too safe with the delayed indicators and undodgeable property and easily spammable for a heavy punish to feel worth it when you finally called the direction and got the timing to get a parry.

    Never gave a thought on his side heavies but I've always considered his heavy finishers as too heavy hitting and the tracking is insane too. Stormrush can at least be interruped by fast attacks so they are not giving me that much of a headache.

    This move has been making me swear for the longest time. Even in duels it is tough, since with hitstun or blockstun of the previous light and the speed of the side heavy finisher the parry timing window is tighter than with other heavies, let alone heavy finishers. Couple that with the 30 damage on a move that feels like a light finisher into storm rush and you might have more than a few broken controllers.

    Orochis zone having medium hitstun could also be seen as a problem, zone (without followup light) into stormrush cannot be interrupted by a light and forces you to make a read on where to block/parry. More so an issue on console rather than pc as it is almost a guaranteed 20 damage, but it is a pretty good move to know if you can hit the zone.

    I wasn't expecting his side heavy finisher to be a topic, I'm a Gryphon main and I usually talk about Gryphon's side heavy finisher that also deals 30 damage, have a world of a hitbox and have hyper armor (although is 800ms instead of 700ms like Orochi's side heavy finisher), I think it should be reduced to 28 damage, although the Veteran Kick / Slash should guarantee 26, it's a 2 damage exchange.
    If I could name a strong move for Orochi, it would absolutely be zone attack + dodge cancels, this move carries Orochi basically in any situation, 1v1, antigank, team fight, brawls, any.

    Was using the side heavy finishers in realistic Elim way more often then I care to admit and then landed 90% of the time just double light on the left let the heavy fly from the right it catches most dodges and dodge bashes as well as totally throwing your opponent off

    I know it’s not but the timing makes me feel like this is a direct response to me commenting on the hl vid about him not being a lost cause and comparing his state to orochis. I’ve known this move was good but I don’t often have damage on as much as I should so I didn’t know how good, that being said it’s still a relatively parryable move that shows it effectiveness in team fights yes but also in careful mindfuckeries, “am I going to gb again? I might just let this fucker go.” But ofc the attention you’ve brought to it only makes it more balanced in the sense people will look for it now when fighting an orochi so you actually might’ve just balanced blud with word of mouth alone. Also storm rush has always been an massively easy move to counter since it has no hyper armor or at least it’s very late, I gotta look again but I understand when someone is being berated with orochis entire moveset and can’t keep up fast enough to decipher a kick (to dodge) from a rush (to block). Here’s a tip guys, light interrupts!!Orichi has like no hyper armor, light him enough to stop his flow but not to get read and light parried, it varies from person to person and drastically with skill levels but it’s not difficult to figure out if you are a competent player who is making effort to get better, some guys will try to bait that interrupt out I’ve seen nova king do it idk how many times. The thing to remember is being an Orochi with a point to prove, against 4 hungry enemy’s with no concept of proper ganking, no teammates in sight, bounty/kiai, respite, slip, and fear ready to go, results in a power you will unfortunately only ever feel in a game that most of your friends stop playing ages ago, you prove your strength to no one but yourself, you play dominion and you actively seek harder fights to prove your prowess against people relaxing and you regret every instance where you clicked deathmatch and expected anything less than ‘deathmatch’. 🎉welcome to 2024 peasants🎉

    I honestly thought that they would make the damage 28 or 27 when they announced the speeding up of the attack. Don't forget that his top heavy finisher is 32 damage. The range and hitbox aren't anything to scoff at either. For a top heavy, the finisher has an amazing hotbox. Then you have the storm rush noob stomper move.

      Jiang Jun's finisher heavies from all sides do less damage than orochis, the damage definitely feels unfair comparing it to other characters.
      (JJ side heavies are 28 damage and the top heavy is 30)

    Orochis most powerful move is so broken they had to change the input. His heavy deflect was God like. Unblockable, undodgeable, all the soft feint options out of it. So amazing, they had to change its input to nothing

    Also side point I'll die on thats half related to orochi. Kia. Wtf dose it still both stun AND deplete all stam. Storming trap had its stam damage go straight to zero. It's closest comparison is a tier two that trades self immunity for potential range. It's a annoying feat to fight and is worse yet inconsistent in how it has been balanced compared to similar feats.
    Nerf it, buff stunning trap, hell if they remove the stam damage and restore the old cool down I'd call that a pretty strong win as well. Just do something.

    this game has a serious information communication problem that causes the fanbase to only be able to see, talk about or react to a move having Special Properties. it really seems like both the players and the devs have this mindset that the only things that matter about a character are the oranges, the blues & the onehitkill feats. which is a shame for me bc i really enjoy the game the best when i & my opponent are fighting eachother without relying on those -- like, actually using moves that can be blocked & parried, and getting to block & parry

    All you said is 100% true, although this move was made so exactly for these very reasons. This is exactly there as it is to make Orochi an interesting pick in 4's. Like giving zerk dodge recoveries on everything was also.
    So you kind of kicking open doors here like you did with highlander weird innputs

    Despite the Dev's best efforts to balance the game there are still so many inconsistancies. Honestly they should just revert the change to the speed and put it back to 800ms. Never really understood why they made it 700ms in the first place, such a random buff to a move that already had an insane hitbox and forward movement in the first place..
    Speaking of, here's another one that I've personally been bitching about for months: Glad's skewer still doing 38 fucking bleed damage. That's old PK triple stab levels of damage. Actually, I'm pretty sure it's currently the highest damaging move in the game (not including feats). Why has it not been nerfed yet lmao.

    orochi's forward dodge light is also very strong and an underrated part of his kit. it is enhanced, 400ms and can be dodge recovered from. it maintains advantage on your opponent on a block and an empty dodge, and gains damage on a missed block or a dodge attack. the only way to counter it is with a hard read on the move and light parry, which is already difficult because of the other strong options orochi has from forward dodge. very good move, especially when you've conditioned your opponent with his kick but dont want the passivity of an empty dodge forward

      It’s 566 not 400. But yes the move is good when put in the context of his forward dodge mixup. Although if someone makes a read to disregard the kick it’s easily differentiable from storm rush.

    I do think orochis damage on heavies off gb and the storm rush are too high

      He gets 22 on gb which if I remember is lower than average. Maybe you could shove storm rush down to 10 dmg from its current 12 but anything less is just horrid.

      @@ExoticDva although I think 20 damage is high I can most of the time react it’s just hard sometimes, but 20 damage and an uninterruptible bash seems a bit strong, if they nerf tiandi for it then orochi should be nerfed for it too

    Make it 800ms, fix the hitbox to not have that stupid phantom range it has, and make it 28 dmg. Then it would be fine.

    Orochi been disgusting for far too long... the heavies are lightning fast.
    He has the craziest dodge bash mixup in the game.
    Omni directional undodgeable unreactable attack that only guarantees a light on parry.
    Every single move is perfectly safe.
    He cannot be punished basically ever.
    But for months all I'm told is "JuSt gEt gOoD"🥴 He's been disgustingly busted in my opinion. He needs to be tuned down in many ways. Starting with the chain heavies and then storm rush.

    Ah yes, the natural progression of things:
    Problems for old/mid gen- Storm rush.
    New Gen/PC- Finisher heavies.
    Seriously, though, this is a good point. 700ms, 30+ damage, very wide hitbox, and safe with recovery cancels. That's just not okay, and even though Orochi players can be seen as shitty players in retrospect anyone who truly understands these mechanical dynamics is just going to be a nuisance in most team fights. I don't like it, either.

    I want to play this character more but his drip is so mid, you have like 3 good armor sets. Also everyone plays him so it just feels weird playing him. He’s very fun though and my preferred assassin out of all of them but still.

    I also think orochi has one of the best dodge attacks in the game as well. Enhanced, recovery cancels, undodgeable, and every dodge attack nets a light parry now so. I always considered it to be one of the strongest after the dodge attack update

    If they lowered the damage of the finisher heavies and remove the un-dodgeble property of storm rush. Or give us an indicator earlier, Then he'd be balanced.

    The only thing I hate about orochi is how he can dodge cancel out of everything even a whiffed bash and can even do a follow up light on a WHIFFED bash. I thought that concept of a follow up attack on a whiffed bash was supposed to be removed like we saw with valk. As a warmonger/highlander main it is really frustrating how I can make proper reads yet still get beaten due to cheesy moves or follow ups on whiffed attacks.

      He can't side dodge cancel out of a whiffed bash.
      Only zhanhu, tiandi, afrea can and they all need it removed.
      Maybe not zhanhus as his comes out a bit late so it's a little weak.

      Idk, I think recovery cancels on dodge lights are fine, especially since they are so easy to parry

      Overall any character shouldn't have the ability to Dodge cancels recovery after a dodge light
      So pirate, zerk, orochi, nobu i believe too ?
      The only exception with Tiandi i should say, since he is suppose to be the "dancer" so it make sense

      Tbh dodge canceling dodge attacks is not that offensive to me and this is coming from someone who isn't constant at feinting to parry them. Dodge attacks are not offensive, they are a defensive tool that can be stretched out. I will say I do miss having not "select all" being the only way we see dodge recoverys given though.
      My rule of thumb is the pressure of the combo leading up to the cancel or the power/utility or the finisher being balanced by a slower recovery window, a less safe dodge attack, or low post dodge pressure.
      In this frame work I'd say that Zahn, oro, and still undecided on pirate are fine, and specifically nobu dodge heavy and hidden stance I see as fine, even if some push it.
      The problem I've had is that that nuance seems to be fleeting since as of late they normally just "add recovery cancels" all of which are always very safe and located after literally every move.

    The only thing i would change is the hitbox just a bit
    Its not like that side heavy are use that much when he is the one being ganked
    It is not as good as medjay who has hyper armor
    If it had another property like undodgeable or unblockable or hyper armor then maybe you are right
    Just cause orochi now on top of the meta for now doest mean he deserves to get nerf because the ones above him got nerf too
