Awesome episode and the guy who plays Jez is just incredible. Don't think I've ever seen him in anything else but he manages to be both hilarious and disturbing at the same time. "I'm only a fan, Alan... your biggest fan!"
He used to be in the British soap Emmerdale. I think it was called Emmerdale Farm when he was in it. Ian Sharrock is the actor's name. He played this role perfectly.
Think part of the reason the two Irish creators of Father Ted guest star in this episode was because they were writing and possibly shooting Father Ted in the same studio.
Probably my favourite episode. The 2 Irish guys sat at the table with Alan are the Father Ted Creators and Writers of the show Graham Linehan, and Arthur Matthews.
I think 'Alan partridge mid morning matters ' is the best thing he has done , not many episodes and they 20 mins each . Very funny as its him doing his radio show.
As has already been mentioned, the two Irish guys are Father Ted creators Arthur Mathews and Graham Linehan. You've got to check out their fantastic sketch series, Big Train. The cast included Simon Pegg.
"I’ve had some pretty late night sessions myself, yeah. In 1976 I saw ELO at the Birmingham NEC. I was there shouting with everyone else - “come back on, ELO, and carry on playing”." XD
That is a fabulous episode, your reaction to it is like watching it for the first time. The writing in this episode really shows how crass Alan is and the stalker house is a great twist.
As a non-brit there are a lot of references you won't get which is a shame because the show is so much better when you know all the z-list celebrities he keeps name dropping and other things he refers to.
Apparently the fan shrine incident happened to Stewart Lee. He told the writer Armando Ianucci about it who then appropriated the incident for Alan and didn't tell him.
@@paolom.6011 I could be wrong but I might have heard him tell that on Richard Herrings podcast RHLSTP. It's on here if you decide to check it out feel free to tell me if I'm wrong and I'll have another think

Although Lee and Herring joke that they deserve some credit for inventing Alan Partridge, since they worked on On the Hour, writing material for the new DJ character played by Steve Coogan, more of Lee and Herring are in Partridge than you would guess. In the episode To Kill a Mocking Alan (often referred to the “You’re a mentalist” episode), Partridge finds himself in an Alan Partridge shrine after inviting himself around to a fan’s house out of desperation. Peter Baynham (“who,” Lee writes, “eventually wrote the Borat movie, and then moved to Hollywood to grow his hair”) wrote this scene based on Lee’s recounting of the time he couldn’t get a hotel after a gig and was invited to a fan’s house to crash on the sofa. Lee explained that there were posters of himself on the walls, which made it creepy, but likely, there were posters of other comedians, too.
I remember this as being the first episode, I really think you should watch knowing me knowing you with Alan Partridge which is the series before this when he has his chat show
CRAZY DUDE [throttling Alan]: "Can you smell gas?" ALAN: "It's a Scotch Egg. I thought it would have broken down by now, but I think I'm slightly constipated. Surprising really, considering the circumstances."
A few year ago the BBC had an Alan Partridge online quiz where it said: Give me 10 questions. Give me 20 questions. ,or.. I am Jed Maxwell, give me 30 questions.
7:13 There’s Jed on the left there in the audience! I missed it the first time I ever saw this years ago, this was one of my favourite episodes, these 2 series of Alan Partridge are my favourite out of all the things he’s done. They’re just packed with hilarious episodes like this!
Memorable episode this. Along with the "Dan..Dan...Dan...Dan.." and the one in the mobile home discussing James Bond movies. I think the latter is from a different Alan Partridge series though. So Josh, how do you compare British comedy with American comedy?
Mate don’t worry, Partridge is something you rewatch and catch something else almost every time. I enjoy your stuff. The APU (Alan Partridge) is bountiful.
Hi dude! I think you would love this series called "Stath Lets Flats" it is probably the funniest British comedy show I have seen in a good loooong while, I guarantee you a big laugh every 10 seconds. It also won 4 BAFTAS last year including best comedy series and best lead actor in a comedy series. Hope you are well friend, much love from the UK!
Love you're reaction videos, two to try out. The best of Dave Allen, the sketches and a very short one. The sketch show , Tim Vine and Lee Mack hilarious toilet sketch.
if only afterwork knew before starting to watch this episode what kind of crazy alternate dimension he would end up in, he may have come better prepared with tissues
Anyone who gets Alan Partridge, and aren't from this country is o.k in my book, there's loads of little subtle jokes alot of people wouldn't get, like when he's getting chased but has to make sure the cars locked etc, you have to understand him and his life to get alot of the jokes as well, your getting it now, keep it up and you'll be surprised at all the other comedy's like this we have, but most people not from this country wouldn't have seen,
4:12 Dude on the right is the guy who wrote Father Ted and IT Crowd, Graham Linehan. 12:18 Missed out "No way, you're a bloody mentalist!" This and the one where he gets "injured" before a presentation are my favourite, that and the "SMELL MY CHEESE YOU MOTHER!" obviously.

They should put Josh's laugh on the NHS 🤣
One of my favourite Alan Partirdge moments is when he breathes over Lynn and the guests and they recoil! Gets me everytime!
And move and fire and move and fire and move and fire "GET BACK IN THE LIFT LYNN! RELOAD"!
This is my favourite Partridge......
He's genuinely one of the scariest characters I've seen on TV lol. Great reaction!
Best episode 🤭👌🏻
Love Bond Night too 👊🏼😬👊🏼

Too right, he plays the role perfectly here. I'm getting Pupkin and Bates vibes. Could see him taking care of Alan's ankles

I was thinking that about the Sue Cook bit. Even I've forgotten who she is and I'm from Britain.

This episode was hilarious I loved it!
You have to watch the prequel to this show, “Knowing Me, Knowing You.”
