    You forgot to add paint protection film on the most exposed parts as paint will get chipped, and also get a good tint job done as it will increase your range by not needing to run your AC as much, while saving your interior from being eaten by UV.

    Great video. I’d like to add something. Considering that there is not a spare tire, plan on having these 3 items handy: 1) Tire pressure gauge, 2) Portable air compressor, 3) Set of 4 lift pads. You will need #1 and #2 to maintain proper tire pressure and to inflate a flat tire with a nail in it to get you to a nearby tire store. You will need #3 once you get to the tire store so they can properly lift your car without damaging the battery.

I juice up while I’m in my office. Driving is fun now, instead of a thing that I do to get from A to B. "Any licensed electrician can install a wall connector"

    • @mesaber86
      @mesaber86 4 роки тому +21

      Problem is your insurance doesnt cover self-installs. Your house burns down and they see you got a tesla charger with no paper who installed it? They could opt for fraud (your burned your house down with purpose when you installed the tesla charger) or just inresponsible how an install should be made. Be sure your house doesnt burn mate :p
      Edit: Also 60 amp in the cable at 140 volt? Equal 35 amp on 240 volt? You wouldnt need special cables for that heat?

      @MeSaber is correct. A fire investigator will come and see the EVSE, then search permits. If a permit is required to install an EVSE in your home as it is in our county and you didn't pull a permit and get an inspection before using it, you're screwed. However, @N Hietala is also correct- it is a relatively easy self-install, and in some places, you can get an inspection done on work you do yourself. If you install EVSE yourself, do NOT skip the inspection step or you can absolutely end up without coverage if there is a fire from *any* source in your garage.

    Rather than a mesh wifi, I would recommend a powerline + wifi adaptor. This makes your internet go from the modem, through your power circuit, into a receiver plugged into power anywhere else in the house, which can then make its own wifi signal. Can be found for less than $100.

    SSD for sentry mode is awesome tip ty

  • @cowsgomoo8120
    @cowsgomoo8120 4 роки тому

    Actually the best type of storage to use for Tesla Cam and Sentry Mode is an endurance sd card. An SSD is effectively a big thumb drive in terms of the type of storage data, so it will breakdown just as easily overtime as that data type is not designed for constant writing. Get an SD card with a USB adapter for the car's port and you'll be all set.
    Note: Make sure the SD card says "Endurance" on the packaging/website. You'll see pro endurance or high endurance usually, but you are looking for that key word. Endurance SD cards have a different type of memory than standard SD cards or SSDs. This data type is designed for constant writing, but is more expensive per GB. That said, you'll save money in the long run by not having to constantly replace an SSD that goes bad.
    Thank you for taking the time to read all of this and educating yourself.

I don’t blame Tesla for this as FMC’s process can be challenging as it is designed to be Ford Dealer friendly (thereby difficult for everyone else). Unfortunately, I didn’t learn about this until I was making final delivery arrangements with Tesla. Sadly, this meant I ended up buying my Model S from a local auto dealer (which came with a whole other slew of challenges).

    Tip 7. Yes, when you go to CarMax you'll get an associate that hopes you plan on selling your car to them. They get a small amount for buying a trade in. You do realize those associates get paid for cars they move or buy, right? Just think that tip is a pretty low thing to do, only to go to Tesla to trade your vehicle in which, BTW, is generally the same amount that KBB trade in lists.

    I drive a tesla model 3 and haven't had an amazing experience tbh. Yeah there are fun features that other cars don't have, and the acceleration is insane, but there are lots of features that are very half baked. One of them is the adaptive cruise control, which sometimes suddenly really slows your car down while you should be going at a constant speed in a road with no obstructions, the autopilot requires you to not just have your hands on the steering wheel like you would expect, but to really press down on it otherwise it turns off. It also warms you with a really loud beeping tone if you come too close to a car at a speed that the car thinks is dangerous, but it really works way too soon, like you shit your pants when that happens while you know you had the situation under control. And most tesla's don't run on renewable energy, which is even worse for the environment than gas cars in a lot of cases, so maybe we should first switch to renewable energy sources and then to electric cars. But otherwise the car is fun to drive and has useful quirks and features.

      There is no case where using electricity for vehicles is worse than fossil fuels, even when coal is the primary source of power. Replacing our demand for oil with demand for electricity is the best way to help the environment.
      It's also helpful to know that you can turn off the early warning altogether if setting it at "LATE" isn't enough to stop the false alarms that bother you. Thanks for watching!

    • @TheTechofTech
      @TheTechofTech  4 роки тому

      If your connector were installed that closely to your power panel, you would've required the same flex conduit. 90 amp wire has a very high minimum wire bending space. Either you didn't go with 90 amp wire, or you didn't get your connector installed right next to your panel.

    If you have a OnePlus phone, get a OnePlus 12-volt car charger so you can get a proper 3.5-6 amp charge and not the snail pace 1-2 amps of the front USB ports. A lot of commutes will actually be able to provide your primary phone charging needs, so you almost never have to plug it in outside the car. (Of course, if you don't care about the time your phone battery spends at high voltage you can just forget car charging, charge it overnight and replace the battery when it goes bad)

    Why not? I bought a Microcenter 230 gig thumb drive and thought I could get by with it. The reads and writes to it are so much that the thumb drive burned out after a month.
    It is better to buy the smaller usb 3 samsung SSD which will have more longevity to the drive. IF you are really nerdy you can pass through the

      ...and yet the inspector remarked at what a good job it was. I allowed him to run the conduit that way as it greatly reduced the time needed to install, which greatly reduced the expense. 90 amp wire must be run very straight. You can’t bend it without reducing its ability to handle to load, so you have to make big arcs when changing direction.

They reloaded the software, which did not help, but it did stop the rear camera from working! I just could not trust this car.As others have noted, the audible blind spot warning does not work. It does also not have reverse braking or rear cross traffic alert, which should be standard on a 65 thousand dollar car. Loved it and hated it, but could not convince myself to keep it.

    Wow. You weren’t kidding about the customer service. I just ordered my Model 3 on this Wednesday. I was assigned an Inside Delivery Specialist by Friday. However, I have been given two different delivery time frames. One says my car will be ready in 2-3 weeks and the other says 8-12 weeks. I can’t get a solid DEFINITIVE answer from anyone. And it seems the more interaction I have with Tesla, the more confusing it becomes. Any tips on who I should speak to to get the right answer? And since I’ve been educated the most by your videos, I did use your referral code. Thanks.

    • @TheTechofTech

      As I said in the video, you’re going to love the car when you get it and think this is all worth it. Keep that going through your head as long as you can. Now, there are certainly experiences that are beyond what you should put up with, but as long as you are *only* experiencing the kinds of things I mention in my video, I recommend you just press on knowing the car is worth it.
      I don’t have any secret advice on who to get answers from. Nobody does. It is a problem with the company and not the individual employees you talk to. They just aren’t given either the information or the control needed to give a customer like you a good experience. I’m not saying you shouldn’t voice your disapproval, but know that Tesla’s front line employees are often caught between a rock and a hard place.
