I used to have such problems beating mission 3, but then I saw Starship troopers and threw massive amounts of rifle infantry at the enemy. It did the trick, with severe casualties of course ;)
+- Rust - In the Allied campaign, the UN references the creation of Operations Group Echo (basically GDI) after they realize the Allies alone would not be enough to battle future threats. That and the forces fighting the Giant Ants use units that GDI fields by 1990 - a mixture of both Allied and Soviet equipment.
Played this on the PS1. It was still one of my favorite games, and the ants are one of the fondest parts because it was like a whole new campaign you didnt even know about as it was included in red alert retaliation. Ofcourse, link-up play was awesome too.
Ha these missions could certainly make people antsy . You'll never see anything as fun and silly as this in later C&C games (Though Yuri's Revenge came pretty close). Man these were great times. I actually miss the underground bunker missions; to this day still very unique in a C&C game. :)
Reading the description I would say that's why I used APC! Machinegun easily eliminate the ants and the flame doesn't do heavy damage on tanks! APC transported the civilians also! Damn the start was tough until reinforcements come! Some base with helipads on the island would've been great no matter longbow or orc but they just torturing us like that :D It's a great game! Dan Liang Have you tried fan emulations like Open RA or Red Alert 1? I haven't played them much myself, but I believe that both emphasize multiplayer. The latter I feel has a more "authentic" experience while the former made a few changes that help out dated gameplay (i.e. the build tab has it so things like infantry, buildings, vehicles, and defensive buildings each are grouped together in separate tabs like in Red Alert 2). I also remembering downloading the original Red Alert game with modern compatibility from EA's official website for free a few years back, but can't find it for some reason now.

Might be someone has a mod to decrease game speed. I prefer slower gameplay actually, it gives me enough time to micromanagement, even though AIs is quite dumb but they can do this n that in computing speed while I can't.
