Urgh, did someone steal the large PCT blaze from the terminus? People are the worst. Except for you two, you two are cool. Congrats to Sprocket on finishing up the trail.
You are my all-time favorite person to watch on UA-cam. Great personality, positive attitude and just an all-around nice person. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us. Can’t wait to watch the next video.
The ending scene (15:30), looking down on the monument from above and then up the border cleared on the mountainside beyond is spectacular. I have seen many hikers walk the last few hundred yards to the border on UA-cam, and then in celebration stand beside and then on top of the monument, but this camera shot is an original in my experience. Once again you bring an amazingly fresh perspective with your photography and narration. Very special. Congratulations.
What a beautiful video. It's bittersweet for me though, as I was one of many who got stopped just shy of the border. Such a strange experience walking for months on end towards a singular goal and location, only to be stopped so close to the end and have no control of the situation. Alas, that's life. Really hoping to make it back out there one day and do those last 80 miles. Glad Sprocket was able to get her last miles!
Stoked for Sprocket! Can’t imagine hiking from campo to rainy pass and being stopped due to circumstances out of your control like a wildfire. So cool to see you two go back and do it together! Pumped for your next hike together.❤️❤️
I'm digging your journeys Jupiter, every time I see the mountains I choke up longing to be free in the Cascades. Trail Angel Mode: If you're ever traveling thru the I-5 Corridor near Albany or passing thru Santiam Pass I'll gladly put you up in your travels, Just send me a message. Best -Chris aka Forrest.
Wow...that was not what I was expecting when I clicked on the video :) Instead of flying through the trail as usually.... this seems so relaxed and chill :)
I got to the border last year on September 2nd as it closed. We all felt heartbroken for those behind us. I went back to Oregon to finish what I had missed, only to be shut down by fires there as well. It gave me a reason to go back this year, similar to Sprocket, and I'm so grateful for that. It allowed me to do the Lionshead Closure and connect my steps fully, just in Oregon. Congrats, Sprocket! You are not alone in picking up those last miles this year. The PCT is a special part of the world.
Must've just missed you. Was in Stehekin eleven-days ago (border on 4th of July). See my name just above the "A" on the CLASS of 2023 (at Lion's Den) at 15:50 in the vid. You passed me last year in the Sierras, but we didn't see each other. Are you following me Jupiter? : )
I’m a 2023 PCT thru hiker who sadly couldn’t get the full continuous footpath (got booted by blizzards in the Sierra in June and I flipped to Canada and back to have as many steps at least as possible). I saw you both in the rain and I’m afraid I was a bit grumpy because I was soaked and wasn’t sure if it was you. I had the palante and a clear Walmart poncho for those few days of rain. God what a beautiful section, thank you for capturing it. While I now hike south to midway through the Sierra to end my original north bound hike, that monument will always feel like the end to me. A culmination of so many hopes and dreams and just the simplicity of walking. This made me cry. Congrats to Sprocket (hope spelling is correct). I was so sad to see the fires last year, and this year with the snow just frustrated I had to change directions and plans. I hope to be back to do that stretch again later this fall just to take it all in for the second time. You’re right, the PCT is home. Always will be. Thank you for your videos.
I had been wondering when this video would be coming as you had made a "cameo appearance" in another PCT hiker vlog near the intersection of the PCT and PNT several weeks ago. How wonderful that Sprocket could finish up the last leg to the momument! As always, thank you for taking us along!
Awesome! I just finished stevens pass to the border literally yesterday lol so it's cool to see you hike the parts I was just at. I wonder how many days I missed you by.
The tarp tent looks very light. But what do you do about insects and slugs? On my last camping trip it rained and by morning the mesh liner of my tent had several large slugs crawling up the outside. I wouldn't have liked them inside with me!
It's not the best shelter for all seasons, or for all trails, is probably the answer you need here! But some areas, or some times of the year it is by far the lightest shelter possible and totally safe. It's just knowing when to use it, and when to leave it at home. Beyond that there's a lot of campsite selection tricks that help alleviate insects a whole lot which I've talked about in some other videos before. That's personally how I get away with using a tarp on so many of my past hikes even when the season or trail may not call for it
Great pix of Bumble Bees A/k/a Buzz Pollinators ! Having mentioned that, the entire video sure make me wish I was 45 years younger. Thanks for sharing and making such outstanding videos.
I say this to my friends, that "live" as if they're going to be in their 20s/30s forever. Instead they sit around doing nothing but play games or watch TV, alas.
It is a very beautiful section. I've been to the monument twice, hiked all of Washington and Oregon twice. Yet I still haven't finished the trail over 3000 miles later having started in 2016 on June 14th Autumn Leaves and I were the first to sign the log book that year a day later we would be bailing out. We were way in over our heads the snow traverses were too dangerous. Five days later after nearly suffering hypothermia going back over Robinson Creek pass we were safe again and I was forever addicted to the PCT. Happy trails man love your videos you and others have taught me a lot.
Amazing video as always! 😀 My boyfriend and I are planning to do this stretch this summer in August and end in Manning Park, but I'm having a hard time understanding how long the longest water carry is (even with the water report). How long was the longest water carry that you had to do? Would be super helpful to know! 😊
Do you have the Farout app? You can see all the water sources with it, and how far apart they are. I honestly don't remember there being much of a problem with water in the northern 100 miles of the PCT. Lot's and lots of little streams and springs. I wouldn't like totally disregard paying attention, but I don't recall any issue.
Jupiter, you really have a great eye for bits of the trail and scenery and action that is interesting... very little audio, outstanding videography... I like the combo. Question: What software are you using for editing video on the trail? Or is someone else doing the edits?
No, it changes constantly through the day. Changes if I'm climbing or descending. Changes if I have a full resupply or If I'm running light! Always adjusting
@@JupiterHikes Thanks! I was playing with mine a bit while I was working on the CT this past month. It's a very comfortable pack but I was curious if you found a position you liked best
This is one of our shakedown hikes before starting the GDT, though there's a bit more to it than that :) thanks for watching!
Urgh, did someone steal the large PCT blaze from the terminus? People are the worst.
Except for you two, you two are cool. Congrats to Sprocket on finishing up the trail.
Someone did! The pcta replaced it though, the day after we were there. It had been glued down, and bolted!
Hoping Sprocket doesn't get any foot pain from walking from the angle at 12:55

Your videos recently are at another level. Simply joyous. Hope to walk the PCT some day.

It was 17 miles before the border for me
Your videos always perfectly capture the simple and profound joy of experiencing nature by foot
I’d be interested to see a video where you discuss the difference between solo through hiking and through hiking with a partner.
Great job Jupiter on capturing the feelings of that last 30 miles. I loved and could feel the wind taking y’all to Canada! Happy Hiking
9:48 seeing you guys cutting veggies with that time knife gave me a good laugh.

What a beautiful composition- And so glad you are both on this amazing journey.
13:40 Beware! Now we know your passcode!!! 😈

Background music is awesome. Well edited. Well done all the way around.
Always good to see one of your videos pop up, Jupiter. Thanks. Enjoy the Great Divide. :>)
It’s great that you guys can share the difficulties and joys of through hiking together.
I gotta stop drinking while watching your vids. The emotions. I miss trail life soo much. Thanks JupiterHikes.
Congrats Jo! Glad you got to finish! Stein
We’ll take a pastry…some beautiful scenery …..and nice sharp closeups too!

Extra vibey this episode, love it! You look really happy 😄✌
I’m one who cried. Still so grateful!
Beautiful story, beautifully told and beautifully shot.
I hiked this section 50 years ago.
LEGEND! LETS START A 100 PLUS PERSON THRU HIKING GROUP!
Yeah boyyyyyy
Awe! So glad that you have a lovely partner, on this trip! What fun!!
Much luck to you and Sprocket!

The line on the map really is a line! ;-)
Nice to see that part of the trail again!
Cheers from LA.
I love Stehekin too!
I live in northwest Washington. I've done Cutthroat Pass with my girls. Beautiful area. Hoping to do Section J with the scouts next year.
Multi purpose hike - with friends, what could be better . Enjoy completing the PCT and the start and finish of GDT.

Lovely.
You've come far, Pilgrim!...
Best Jupiter video to date.
What a super-cool, and wonderful way to finish up the PCT Adventure. Very happy for you, Sprocket.
Wonderful video. I missed the last 30 miles from Hart’s Pass last year on my thru hike due to fires. Thank you for sharing. Chowdah.
benchmark video as always but better with Jo’s involvement and with landscapes almost beyond comprehension, really enjoyed it.
Was the farm open in Stehicken? The cherries were great. I went S in june/July 2021 and weas equally awesome.
You do such a great job of just letting the camera watch - very pleasing for the viewer 😊
OMG dude this video is the best one you've made ever. You are in love I can tell.
The class of 2023 thing at Lions Den broke me. It looks so different now. The canvas is completely full.
This explains why I saw a pic of you in a SOBOer's video. 👍 Nice video again.
Why didn't you hike into Canada? - the Canada PCT entry permit is back.
So nice late summer vibes! Enjoyed the info/context about that particular section of the PCT. You are of great inspiration!
great video. one of the best of yours I've seen. brings back a ton of wonderful memories.
Amazing as always. How can I find more info on sprocket’s myog packs?
Just how much happy is in that pack? Nice hike, pleased she finished. Looking forward to the Great Divide
very nice to be able to finish !!!! 😊. yes spiritual !!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the reply! That sounds reassuring, but will keep an eye on Farout for sure! 😊
very inspiratiional! Thank you two for sharing your passion.
Another beautiful experience, I watched this one twice as I remembered my last trip.
I got the alert.... life on pause for the recharge..
👍🐿👍
That right there is Art. Way to step it up, masterful editing.
❤
Congratulations Sprocket!
By far one of my favorite towns on the trail. Beautifully done man
congratz ! what a landscape it is, gorgeous
Looks like you're having a great time!
Jupiter, you really have a great eye for bits of the trail and scenery and action that is interesting... very little audio, outstanding videography... I like the combo. Question: What software are you using for editing video on the trail? Or is someone else doing the edits?
I do all the edits, and I do them post hike! I use davinci resolve
Beautiful country!
YAY SPROCKET!
Love it
Do you always keep the pack so low on your back?
No, it changes constantly through the day. Changes if I'm climbing or descending. Changes if I have a full resupply or If I'm running light! Always adjusting
@@JupiterHikes Thanks! I was playing with mine a bit while I was working on the CT this past month. It's a very comfortable pack but I was curious if you found a position you liked best
great video Jupiter but hope you changed your phone passcode after this video! 😅
How you guys walk so far?🥵
I dislike music on a nature ..sooo annoying
Why do you cover the sounds of nature with music ..unbelievable! I have to unsubscribe 😢😢
