Holbein has changed their Marine Blue from PB16 to a 2-pigment mix. Their original PB16 is my favourite. Thanks for sharing! This is a wonderful comparison!
Thank you!! In this period my son is going back and forth on vacation, but it’s wonderful to spend time with him! I love turquoise too. For a long time I only used cobalt turquoise, but Phthalo is a great discovery. It’s so transparent….
Schminke and Holbein are my favorites and if you want to sketch with it that would be great. Enjoy having your son and take time I'm glad to have my oldest back home for a bit but I would have all 4 of them any day back home.
Welcome back from your vacation, Elisabetta. I hope you had a wonderful time and that your sweet dogs were relieved by your return. 😊 Thanks for sharing such a large variety of PB16s & turquoise blends. I have a love/hate relationship with Phthalos, because theyre so rich, gorgeous, and need to be used in moderation. 🤣 I prefer the green leaning Holbein Marine Blue and W&N Aqua Green. Love your mixes. 😍
Thank you dear Tracy! I understand your love /hate relationship with Phthalos…. I started with hate and I’m growing my love …. I share your taste in matters of colours, we prefer the same ones. I also know you will understand when I say that my holiday was slightly ruined by the thought of my dogs 💔…. I couldn’t wait to smell their fur (and it’s not Chanel 5 I promise 😉).
@WatercolorElisabetta Haha! So true with our dogs, too. Unscented shampoo for the full canine experience. 🤣 We are currently searching for a pet friendly beachside location so we can take the girls with us. 🌴 Enjoy your time with your family. 🥰
@RoryP22 I know Rory! I order directly from them. The problem are duties…they are crazy! I wish someone in Europe stocked them so I would know what to expect…
I have missed you! I was hoping you weren't unwell - I am happy you had time with your son and your family. I love Marine blue by Holbein too! Thank you for the comparison. :)
Yes, that Marine blue is a beauty! Yes, I do not regret prioritising my son, it’s so rare to have him at home! We have a good time together and we laugh a lot. Thank you for your lovely comment ♥️
Totally agree with your choices. The Maimerri green leaning pigment is beautiful and The Turner was very surprising and quite gorgeous. Unfortunately I have neither of these! I have The DS and the Schmincke. The Turner Phal Turq is now on my "wish list". Thanks again 😎, from Australia
@@WatercolorElisabetta My local art store, where I try and buy as much as I can from, now sell Turner so yes, it's available quite readily which is brilliant. I've only got a few but I'm slowly building up my collection. 😊 All the best 👍🏻
I think you need to re-swatch the Schmincke. I have all of my PB16s swatched together and the Schmincke is bluer than Holbein or WN, but just as strongly pigmented. To make sure, I swatched it out again and it is quite strong. Thanks for the video and enjoy time with your son😊
I will! Thank you for your suggestion. However, I think I used a fair amount of paint. I try to make fair comparisons…sometimes, when you swatch side by side, you discover new details…
I ❤ this colour, especially the PB16 versions. Thanks Elisabetta, these colours are beautiful. I have the Schmincke and Maimeri versions. They seem to overpower everything. You get lots of colour with just a tiny bit. There may be too much paint for such a small swatch. Maybe get the paint on a palette first and then swatch? It is more likely that we will paint from a palette than add paint from the tube directly on the painting. Hopefully you will find time to paint one go thosenblue seascapes that are possible with these colours. Have a great time with your son!
Thank you Berolina! I love swatching with fresh paint actually. I also use probably more paint in my sketches than most people….I have painted a little seascape in my introduction to Phthalo colours, just in case you missed it!
Yes it’s very staining but they all look staining to me! I only have a couple of tubes from Shinhan, and I feel the same as you! Same approach and similar range!
Nice to see youre video ❤. I love all Phtalo Pigments, especially if I need a colour without granulation. In my collection of colours are Aqua green from W&N and Phtalo Blue Turquoise from Daniel Smith. I love both of them. A comparison about PG7 is interesting. I have Phtalogreen from Qor and Schmincke. There is a great difference between. The QOR‘s one looks a little bit warmer and more pigmented.
Mmmh interesting what you said about PG7! Maybe my next video could be about Phthalo green…. A colour I have learned to like not long ago… Thank you for stopping by!
The Schmincke and Lukas do look more blue, no? I'm curious to see if the mixes will be more green overall... :) Fo me, i think i prefer Cobalt turquoise. I don't ge along with Schmincke's "Helio" colours...
The Schminke I find being the bluest of all. I’m curious too about the mixes!! Cobalt is also wonderful but I find they have slightly different uses…I like them both!
Sei in partenza?

Congratulations to your family on your son's honorable achievement and still respecting his mother. So happy for you.

I just bought hobein's Marine Blue this last week & it was pb16. They're website says pb16

@TracyIndy that is my dream 🏖️
Beautiful colors ❤ I would enjoy a demonstration using one of these paints as a background for a portrait 🙏
I will, stay tuned! I think I will do this demonstration for my video where I swatch the multi pigment Phthalo Turquoises. ♥️
DaVinci makes a lovely version of Phthalo Turquoise PB16 which is very close to the Maimeri version.
