I just like what you said 'Don't worry about getting it perfect'. Same here. Perfection is needed but don't let it stress you out.
It's a prop, It's a gun... IT'S ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS Can't wait for the wings now 👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you!
you can paint small googly eyes and then glue them onto the piece and that will make em look like rivets, they come in a lot of sizes so its super convenient to use em...hopefully this helps you in the future projects
Definitely, googley eyes work well, as long as you are okay with a soft jingling sound when you move.
I suggested you try your hand at articulated wings some years ago now! Glad to see you're doing it!!!
I know, it's always been a bit intimidating, and there are still a few bugs to work out, but I can see the potential!
@@LostWax Are you working on having the wings attach to the steampunk jetpack pattern that you have?
@@ThomasMinser No, they will need to be attached to a stronger structure. So, probably a bit of wood or something.
the gun is awesome and beautiful!
I love your comentary durring your builds, and how colourful the base is before painting, i find it very easy to follow and keep track :)
Awesome! That's totally the reason I use different colours, so it is a bit easier to follow.
Very awesome creation! I've been watching some others who make things out of foam, and your techniques and products come out looking way tighter and neater than theirs. Keep up the good work.
Ahh, what a nice compliment! Thanks for watching ❤️
@@LostWax Anytime! Love your style 😎
I don't make many prop guns, but I might have to try it out again sometime
i just have to say ur tutes are inspiring and incredibly done, ur terribly underrated!!
Thank you sooooo much!!
Fantastic Chris! Another triumph! Your props look incredible and each one shows such originality and artistry. I laughed like a drain when you stole the festive hat bowl (and now I want one... though probably impossible to get on the tiny island where I live). Can’t wait to see your wing project 😄😄😄. You still have the most calming voice I’ve ever heard too 😊.
Awww, thanks! Wow, I kinda wish I lived on a tiny island. Though, as you have already pointed out, I guess there are drawbacks.
Woah! I'm super stoked for the next project!!
I love this so much - starting mine today!! Love your creativity! I'm so glad you make your patterns available and share it with us!!
Awesome, I hope it turns out amazing!
I really like this one! so want to try it soon!!
Good to see you again and as a steampunk adict I love your videos
Thanks for watching!
Got to find time to try this one
is amazing dude, your work ozom!!!
Very awesome! Those wings will be great too!
I sure hope so:)
Super Fun!! Thanks for taking the time to make these awesome steampunk patterns...we've had a fun time as a family making these. Great way to spend time together!! Plus your videos are super fun to watch. Nice camera work on the golf course!
Now this is one of the reasons I do what I do! - I love hearing that families are working together on projects👍👍 Thanks for making my day!
Your videos are the best for so many reasons. I love this.
Thanks!!
I need this NOW, but i don't have money(and time) to make this! 😂
Awesome video bro
Congrats on the Instructables win, my daughter made the cazador.
Thank you!
Incredible!!
Just brilliant!
Thank you!
Гениально! Просто класс! Мой следующий проект. Сделаю себе такой же. :)
Darn you, Chris! I don't like steampunk, but you keep making such cool steampunk things that make me want to like it! You should see if your local craft store carries the Krylon foil metallic spray paint. It comes in silver, gold and copper, and shines and reflects just like actual metal. It's awesome! And Folk Art makes brushed metal paints for all your little bits.
Thanks for the tips, I will check for the Krylon foil paint- I would love to find a spray that actually ends up reflective! Have a super great day😁
Chris, magnificent steampunk'd Vortex gun, love it! I gutta start up again, been invloved with my EUC riding & some other projects, but that gun along with your mechanical arm, just might motivate me during the winter months.
Great video Chris 😎👍
Thanks Jack!
Love your channel!
That you!
Fantástico!!😃😃😃😃😃👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👍🏾
That gun looks awesome!! You always find Nerf guns turned into steampunk ones on the Internet; glad to see one entirely made from scratch!
(Btw, funny thing: where I work, I occasionally see a doppelgänger of yours in my customers!)
Hehe, maybe it's me!!
woowww.. perfect work...
Thanks!!
Amazing!!!
Thank you!
you need to get a Dremel rotary tool and a wood burning tool it would make this job allot easier.
I do have both of those, but I try to keep the tools I use to a minimum so that it is more accessible for the average beginner crafter.
Wow. This is just crazy.
I found myself glued to your video. Great job! One question...Do you have any feelings left in your fingers from all that hot glue? :)
Actually, since I use a glue gun with variable temp, I hardly ever burn my fingers. I keep the temp low enough so it just melts the glue. Also keeps the fumes down. It's the best 20 bucks you could spend if you are going to do much of this type of work.
Awesome
You are amazing!
You're pretty amazing yourself!
very nice work! I know i'm very late but what happened to the wing prototype?
Amazing! Is there a reason you bush on the black base paint instead of spray? Would spraying it work just as well? Looking forward to your next project.
A lot of people use Plastic-Dip as a spray on base, and that works great, though it is pretty expensive. The problem with regular spray paint as a base is that it goes on so thin. The thing I like about using the brushed on acrylic, is that the brush strokes actually build a bit of texture, which helps when rubbing on the metallic paint- it makes it easier to avoid a blotchy result.
Great, except for the orange cap
Amazing! ! ! I decided to buy your pattern and make this one as my school project. Could u please tell me this weapon is from which movie or which character?
This is my own design, so it is not from any particular character. Glad you like it!!
Really nice Job my friend!!! Did you make bullets and a bandelier to hold them? Great work!!!
Thanks! Haven't made a bandolier yet, but that's a great idea!
@@LostWax that would be really cool.....and shoulder armor with spikes would look amazing too!!!!
I have never made a prop gun... But I am tempted....
I have the time but not the money same for any hobby. Have to remember to start small
Yes, even with simple tools, you can still make some great things!
Awesome! loved it.. btw I noticed you don't use rub n buff anymore.. is it because it fades away over time n acrylic is better protected? please let me know..
and very excited for the next project!
There's a couple of reasons I have switched from Rub n' Buff. The acrylic paint is basically self sealing, whereas RNB needs something over top to keep it from wearing off. Acrylic doesn't have any fumes, One pot of acrylic paint lasts almost forever, and is cheaper because of that. With RNB I would often need to add thinners as I was using it to keep it the right consistency- not necessary for acrylic. Acrylic is water clean up. I also just find it easier to apply on foam. I guess that's pretty much it, To be honest it's been a long time since I used RNB, I should probably get a tube again and see what I think after using acrylic for so long now. Really, whatever you get used to and have accessible is the best!
@@LostWax Thank you so much for explaining.. I initially started with paste waxes on my polymer clay jewelries and later realized it's not permanent and putting clear coats also somewhat ruins it for me.. may be I'll try using some acrylic paints.. :)
Keep up your great works!
@@LostWax thank Chris. I wondered about that. Time to rething my RNB.
Yay wings!!!!
😀
good videos sir
Thank you kindly!
I have tried to make props in the past, but I really don't have the skill or tools needed. However, your video is amazing, and you are so funny with your jokes! I really love how you made the prop, and you have a lot of talent! I wouldn't be able to do it myself because I am very new to cosplay. Is there a place like Etsy where I can buy this prop?
I don't sell my props, but if you have a handy friend, maybe you could convince them to make it for you:)
@@LostWax thanks anyways, and thx for the reply! Also haha you are right, I might know a few people that could help. Ty again and I love your videos, you are so funny and you are actually so good at so many things, yoy have so much talent, you should legit be making props and costumes and stuff for Marvel and stuff.
What about add a lever in front of the trigger ?
That'd be cool.
Thank you 😊 Would that be a little reckless to « customize » myself this little part of the original pattern ?
( I am a tennager and, last month, I went to my first festival, the festival « Cidre et Dragons » (I’m french) in normandy, it was an AMAZING experience, an the passion of disguise hit me, I was in a steampunk disguise and EVERYONE loved it, EVERYONE wanted to take a photo with me, even most badass guys said me « wow awesome suit, guy », even festival’s officials photographers wanted to take a photo of me, I was the most happy person in the world, and now, I search diy tutos to make à better costume for the next festival (probably in February) that’s what I was watching your video ( really good and extremely precise with and amazing result and not for a big cost 👍 ) next time, I’m gonna be the best steampunk ever 🤩
Where's part 1?
please!¡! TIM BURTON COSTUMES!¡!¡!¡!¡ 💡🙏 PLEASE!¡.. EDUARD SCISORSHANDS... etc
who watches the vids and thinks "thats cool! im gonna make that" and then forgets it was athing after lunh?
I don't like using my credit card number so i was happy when i saw the option of Paypal. Thing is... Even though i have money in my Paypal account, Paypal STILL wants me to use my credit card number. So, sorry, i'm not buying unless that changes.
Yeah, I am not sure why that seems to be the case, If you email me at lostwaxozcontact@gmail.com I can set up a PayPal invoice for you that will allow you to pay with your balance. It is a bit of a workaround, but it is the only way I have found that lets people use their PayPal balance.

How i wish you don't charge for your patterns :^(
Yeah, I hear you. But if I didn't charge, I wouldn't be able to take the 2 months of full time work it takes to design, make, film, and edit the pattern and video. BTW if you are on my mailing list, I usually give out coupon codes fro 50% off the price of newly released patterns.......
While I get where you're coming from (free templates are great for those of us on a budget) please keep in mind that it takes Chris time to come up with all of these builds, try them out, then film and edit the videos. He needs to buy supplies like foam, paint and glue. If he didn't charge for his patterns (and his prices are the same as many other prop and costume builders charge for their templates) pretty soon he wouldn't be able to afford to do any of this.
If you take the Ultimate super value deal you get all of the patterns and updates and it is really good value for money.
